Adventure Instead

January 25, 2020

Chris and Kate knew even before they got engaged that they didn’t want a big wedding; instead they wanted a day focused on them and their love, and to rid themselves of all the stress and craziness that comes with wedding planning! When Kate’s mum sadly passed a few weeks before she and Chris were due to get wed, it made them really take stock on what was important, and they ended up cancelling most things they had planned and just went with what felt right.

Worried about rain on your wedding day? Well, don't! Not only is it something you literally can not control, but Ashley and Andrew's day proves that stereotypical 'bad' weather can make for the most beautiful images and special moments. Clare Robinson

January 21, 2020

They chose a local village hall for their September wedding. This not only meant Bronia and Joe had a lovely blank canvas to decorate however they liked, but it was a really affordable option (£500 to have it from Friday morning to Sunday!) The groom wanted a really big wedding, but the bride wanted to elope, in the end they met in the middle (ahhh, the secret to a happy marriage right?!) and had something medium sized but relaxed and informal.

January 20, 2020

Amy and Darren used traditional weddings they’d been to together to influence what they didn’t want from their own big day! Instead, they wanted their wedding to be fun and to feel like one big party. As they’re both big music lovers, they focused on their shared interest and the bands they’d seen together to theme the decor. Throw in wedding outfits that reflected their personalities, instead of things they ‘should’ wear, and you’ve got yourself a very Rock n Roll Bride worthy wedding where the couple ignored tradition where it didn’t suit them, and ran with ideas that made it personal to them!

Both big music fans, Broden and Marnie met at a Jezabels gig in Brisbane. They bonded quickly, geeking out over their mutual music taste, and after exchanging thousands of messaged post-gig, they became a couple. They didn't officially get engaged in the traditional sense. They were apart for a few months (Marnie in London and Broden in Australia) and one night during a marathon five-hour Skype call they just kind of mutually decided that they should get married. Instead of an engagement ring for either of them, they got matching mallard duck tattoos on their chests.

January 16, 2020

Sophie’s time working in the funeral industry has taught her that true love shines brighter than ever in our darkest hours. Therefore when it came to planning her wedding to Tim, there was only one theme that felt fitting to them. “Funerals capture your story and reflect our true feelings, so for us it was the perfect theme for our special day. January 15, 2020

Emily and Craig have been to a LOT of weddings over the last few years - 33 in five years, to be precise - so knew they wanted to do something completely different to what they’d experienced before. As music is a massive part of both of their lives so it was super important to them that it play a big role in their wedding day, too. They wanted the wedding to feel like a music festival with a contemporary twist - less wellies and haybales, more Berlin industrial with street art, greenery and warehouse vibes.. Oh and a massive party to boot!

January 14, 2020

Liam and Tara’s September wedding was inspired one thing; their journey together. Meeting at 17 and being each other’s first loves, they’ve had a rocky road to get to where they now are and so wanted to celebrate not only the things that they like together, but also as individuals. This translated as a fun, geeky mismatch of inspirations; comic books, unicorns, Disney, Alice in Wonderland… the list goes on!

Kat

Victoria Baker

January 13, 2020

Their relaxed and colourful day was held at Donnelly River Village in South West Australia. Erin chose a mustard wedding dress and Glen, a smart casual combo of brown trousers and a matching mustard bow tie. The August wedding (which is winter down under remember!) played homage to the season with a colour palette of burnt orange, mustard and burgundy, particularly in the flowers. As a florist, having lots of beautiful arrangements was a must for this bride!

Michelle Lynn Weddings

January 6, 2020

As we kick of 2020, I'm not sure I can think of a more perfect feature than this roaring 1920s themed vow renewal! And OMG is she a beauty! We feature quite a few vow renewals, but not often those of LGBTQ couples, so I was super excited to hear all about Kaitlin and Stephanie's love story. The day began life as a styled shoot, but they decided to renew their vows for real. They were married in Paris originally so wanted nods to this throughout too.
