I know I say this a lot but eeek I am so excited to share Vince & Amanda's wedding. I have been lusting over it ever since Lisa of Ophelia Photography showed me a sneaky peak and the full wedding certainly lives up to my hype! The candy coloured wedding took place at Minoru Chapel and UBC Boathouse in Vancouver and Amanda's dress was handmade by her Mother - how rad is that!? Lisa you rock my flipping world girl. Thanks so much for sharing these with Rock n Roll Bride. I heart you!

Kind of A Big Deal

Kat

October 16, 2009

So I may have written a massive article about how fab Erica Berger is just a two days ago, but when she showed me these photographs and told me the couple found her through Rock n Roll Bride...well I wasn't going to say no to sharing these little beauties was I!? Leigh & Corbett are kind of a big deal (was that a line from Anchorman?hehe). He is the co-creature of the "Saw" franchise and she is an actress and was in The Young & The Restless - I have famous readers don't ya know?! Apparently they love me and went nuts when they saw Erica's work on my blog. I'm a little bit over-excited about that. Woooooo. Oh. And their wedding absolutely rocked. Thanks Erica, Leigh & Corbett...love you too!

I Saw a Shooting Star on my Wedding Night

Kat

Do you remember Anna & Ryan's Old Fashioned Love Affair wedding? Well, Mysi & Craig, the photographers of that soiree sent me their very own wedding - they got hitched a few weeks after! Mysi & Craig got married at a lodge in the middle of nowhere, near her parent's house in Illinois. They made a lot of the details - throwing themselves wholeheartedly into the DIY! They created their own programs to look like newspapers and got their invites printed onto handkerchiefs, the design of which was by the amazing etsy artist Heather Jenny.

Retrospective

Newlywed's Bianca & Sean got married in Cape Town (where they have now lived for 10 years) at a gorgeous restaurant called Pure at Hout Bay Manor. The wedding was based on a vintage/retrospective theme. The Bridesmaids all chose their own sleek black dresses and the boys wore skinny ties and sharp black suits. Bianca looked every bit the vintage princess in a custom made silver satin and lace wedding gown made by local couturier Cindy Bam and a vintage 1920s hat and veil.

Surprise! We’re Getting Married…Right Now!

Kat

October 13, 2009

As many of you will be more than aware, I am a ridiculously massive fan on Noa of Feather Love Photography and so it would seem is the whole of blog land! I have seen her photographs being featured all over the shop which makes me even more grateful that she still wants little me to feature her work. Meegan & Jean-Loius held their engagement party at their parents house..or what the 150 guests thought was an engagement party! The couple had other sneaky plans and half way through the evening, went and get changed into their full wedding gear to surprise their gathered family and friends with a wedding! How ACE is that?! Meghan didn't even tell her best friends who she surprised by saying "Oh hey by the way we're getting married right now...and you are my bridesmaids!" Go check out the rest of these photos on Noa's blog like now! Noa - I'm blown away as ever... Credit: Feather Love Photography

A Blue-tiful Mess

Kat

October 10, 2009

As soon as I laid eyes on this beautiful bride in her STUNNING blue dress I knew I had to share and after speaking to Chloe herself and getting all the hot gossip and details from the day, well I couldn't resist but to post these immediately. Take it away Chloe... We got married at Junior Ranks Mess on the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and didn't actually have a theme - I am far too eclectic to pick a just one and definitely even less likely to find one my hubby would have agreed with! I basically chose everything I liked and knew it wouldn't match but it would make sense to everyone who knew Kevin & I, because we are both such open and free people. We chose blue as a color but did not limit it to any particular shade or tone, and the result was a beautiful mess of all colors of blue imaginable - it was a huge hit with the wedding party and guests and took so much stress out of planning (who wants to have to order swatches?) Decor was came to under $100 - I hand folded 200 tissue pompoms to hang, hand folded 300 paper cherry blossoms for bouquets, centrepieces and ceremony decor and Kevin hung 300 blue and white balloons. Even the candles and vases were dollar store and I don't have any leftover because people went crazy for them and brought them all home! We did everything possible it seems to drive my traditional in laws crazy - we asked for money instead of gifts, we served hor d'hoeuves instead of a dinner, I had a bridesman, I designed a dress to showcase my ink when my father in law suggested I get a turtleneck gown to hide them (seriously!) Oh, and Kevin insisted on rocking the ceremony and marched in there to Sweet Child O Mine by VitaminStringQuartet, and we rocked right out of there to Dance,Dance by VitaminStringQuartet. I tried on traditional gowns but looked like I was playing dress up, so in the end I ordered my dream dress - I saw it on Project Runway season 1 years back and said "that will be my dress" (the white dress). I found a great seamstress on etsy AtelierTami in Greece, who made it for $120! It was exactly what I wanted - plain. I have enough skin decoration and planned on accessorizing on top of that! I got my blue, reception dress from Sarah Seven also on etsy. I had a beautiful birdcage veil made by another etsy artisan, 5eizen and got my shoes from Betsey Johnson (Vixen) but I added the shoe ruffles myself which I made. and Kevin bought his outfit at a skateboarding shop for under $100. My bridesmaids/men chose their own outfits, I told them blue and white and something you will wear again. I wanted them to look like themselves, since I chose them because I love them as they are. I want to give a shout out to all these amazing etsy sellers that I used: White Gown by AtelierTami Blue, reception dress by Sarah Seven Birdcage Veil by 5eizen Gloves by Creonodo Shrug by LolaShowGirl Bouquet by YandeBridal Corsages, Boutonnieres and pompoms by CocoCupcakes Earrings by SweetLobe Thanks to the lovely Chloe & Kevin for sharing their blue-tiful (!) day with us! Latin Lovers

Kat

October 9, 2009

Will & Aine had a Latin/ rock n roll wedding with gorgeous vintage touches in Santa Cruz. The term 'vintage' is thrown around a lot when it comes to weddings but looking at Aine's stunning...and I mean stunning...dress handmade by a friend and matching hairpiece, what other world could I use? The lace, the cameo, the cut...it's swoonworthy stuff! Will is a musician and plays in a Samba band so the day had a very Latin feel - from the bright colours (I adore orange and pink together!), the details and the music - it was a real eclectic mix of styles but it worked perfectly. Thanks so much to Gabrielle for sending me the exclusive first look at this stunning wedding. If you need more then go check out her blog and the slideshow! Credit: Gabrielle Fox Photography

A Day Dreamy, Whimsical Picnic Wedding

Kat

October 7, 2009

Jenna & Michael had a fabulously quirky, kiiky and personally rockin' wedding two weeks ago and the every lovely Love Me Do photography were there to capture the entire thing. The couple put a lot of work into the day with DIY projects a-plenty. "We wanted our wedding to be very classic looking, but still have a whimsical picnic, day dreamy kind of day feeling” the couple explained and they certainly acheived this goal with ideas such as the wishing tree - handmade bird silhouettes pinned into flocks and hung from the branches - which was used instead of a guestbook and the funky chocolate mouschases that certainly made for some great pictures and were provided by Pink, White, Brown. Jenna looked the perfect rock n roll bride in her Alvina Valenta dress and hairpeice from Liaison on Etsy. The bridesmaids dresses were the stunning Vivien Leigh dress by Siri in which they all looks quite the rockabilly princesses! Like these images? Well if you are about to book your wedding photographer then STOP. Hold on a few days and wait until I launch my next contest on Monday... I am terrible at keeping secrets it would seem but it may just be my best ever. Eeek...My lips are sealed. Thanks to Carina & Amanda as always for the gorgeousness and to Jenna & Mike for all the wonderful details. Credit: Love Me Do Photography

Country Garden

Kat

October 7, 2009

When reader Kate sent me a sneak peak of her wedding a few month's ago I knew it would be perfect Rock n Roll Bride material - especially after I laid eyes on her Candy Anthony dress! and Christian Louboutin shoes (a steal and brilliant find from Ebay!) As the the groom, Phil, hails from Wales the wedding had a distinctively Welsh theme and took place in Herefordshire on the Welsh border. The day was filled with personal quirky details and although the wedding may not have been as crazy or offbeat as the ones Kate had lusted after when planning her day, it certainly had the British 'cool' thing down. The reception took place at The Chase Hotel where the couple had a cheese cake (as in a cake made of actual cheese) made by Truffles Delicatessen,a personalised cake topper (dressed to match the couple's outfits) homemade welsh cakes baked by Kate and her great aunt. Thanks so much to Kate & Phil for sharing their gorgeous Welsh day with us....congratulations! Credit: Whole Picture

Green – The New Red?

Kat

October 5, 2009

I think this year green may be the new colour de jour for rock n roll brides. I have been sent a couple of gorgeous green girlies recently...do I see a new trend emerging? You will probably remember Amy from her stunning bridals that I shared recently. Well photographer Brandi was nice enough to send me the full wedding to report. I am crazy about the florals (I'll probably never tire of peacock feather bouquets!), the bridesmaid's and groomsmen's awesome purple combos which looks fab against Amy... and still of course, her shoes! Enjoy my lovelies...and special thanks to Brandi for sending these to me. I will be sharing some more green dress brides soon! Credit: Brandi Thompson Photography

Personal & Vintage Touches

Kat

October 4, 2009

I really do love sharing weddings from the UK. Southampton based Az sent me Julia & Simon's quintessentially vintage English wedding and I just love it. The personal touches like the individually personalised beer bottles and the vintage finds such as the tea sets which the couple spent months scouring charity shops for all made their day perfect. Thanks so much to Az for sending these in. I look forward to seeing much more of you in future! Credit: Lemontree Photography

October 1, 2009

Holy moly I have certainly hit the ground running today, it;s not even 11am and this is my third post of the day so far! I'm sure you can see why the mass posting is necessary though, I couldn't let these little babies sit in my inbox untouched for long surely. The 'Jactonio' (Jaclyn & Antonio) wedding is more than just a little bit rad. It took place in New York and was a day full of warmth, tattoos, rock music and of course lurrrve. Thanks to the ever awesome Matt for sharing! Rock on... oh and ps...that record player? It's the cake! Credit: Matthew Miller Photography

Glamorous. Intimate. Chic

Kat

September 30, 2009

A City Hall ceremony doesn't have to mean a quicky wedding. Herdah & Jonathan had a pretty damn glamorous but intimate and chic wedding at San Francisco's City Hall followed by an even more glamorous but similarly unconventional reception at E&O Trading Company. Hardah wore a dress by Lian Carlo Couture and shoes by Kate Spade. The beautiful flowers and suculents were put together by Herdah's best friends and bridesmaids, the cupcakes were from Kara's Cupcakes . Stunning. Thanks to the ever wonderful Caroline & Dan for sending these to Moi Credit: Tinywater Photography
