Homemade Farm Wedding: Nree & Adrian

Nree and Adrian were married on a Friday afternoon in February. Their farm venue set the tone and theme for the day, which they accessorised with homemade yellow details. "Our wedding was summery, relaxed, vintage and handmade", wrote the bride. "Our main objective was to keep the cost down! So styling and hand making everything was a top priority (also something that I LOVED doing). We wanted to be super relaxed and for our guest feeling relaxed on our special day, so having the wedding at Gum Gully was perfect. The sun was shining, the birds were signing and all we could smell was that sweet country air."

I find it so interesting to see how different the same venue can look depending on the wedding. I've featured a wedding at the amazing Victoria Baths in Manchester before, but apart from the obvious similarities (like the big empty swimming pool!) it could be a totally different venue. Lynsey and Greg added lots of greenery and overgrown foliage to the mix, creating a completely different vibe from the cute, quirky and colourful wedding I've shared from here before.

Lynne and Danielle were married in a marquee on Hengest Farm in Surrey. The wedding took place in May but as we all know, the British weather is anything but predicable and they had hailstones! Although they had to make some last minute changes, it didn't put too much of a dampener on the day, they still threw an almighty party and had the best time ever.

Anne and Ionut were married in Bucharest, Romania. Their ceremony was at Visarion Church and the reception, Domenii Plaza Hotel. "Our wedding was based on us", wrote the bride, "classic, funny, yummy, happy, not ordinary nor extraordinary... We didn't follow what we 'should do' instead we followed our hearts. We wanted to have fun at our wedding, so this was the only theme really!"

Hannah and Kristie were married at Quonquont Farm in Whately, MA. Their laid back May celebration was one that perfectly reflected them as a couple. "Kristie's from Virginia and I'm a New England girl through-and-through", explained Hannah, "so we wanted to find a happy balance that would allow all our friends and family to feel comfortable and have a good time. Elegant, rustic, authentic, quirky, and comfortable were all words we threw around during the planning process."

Kiran and Josh had a two-day wedding on the 3rd and 4th of May. Their main aim was to throw a celebration that felt very 'them' and for everyone to have a great time. Big weddings can often cost a lot, but even with their two day event, this savvy couple only spent £8500! They called in favours, DIYed a LOT and made some clever and unusual choices in order to save money. Everything from the flowers, the cake, the DJ and the stationery were either DIYed by the couple or donated by friends.

" I struggled to begin with to decide what to do and how to do it", began the bride. "I read a lot of magazines and blogs but it wasn't until I found Rock n Roll Bride that I realised that it really didn't matter what everyone else was doing, we should do what represents us best. So we did what made us happy, didn't worry about tradition so much and did things that weren't so ‘wedding’. I kept my hair short (I always thought I’d grow it), I kept it coloured (blue) and we wrote our own vows that made everyone laugh as they really reflected us."

"We didn't really have a theme or colours that matched", Erika wrote. Marina and Darren were married at The Prince Albert pub in Camden. Their day was simple but elegant and beautiful. The bride read the term 'rustic luxe' in a bridal magazine and that seemed to fit them perfectly! "Our wedding was full of beautiful rustic touches, like the flowers and picnic baskets, mixed in with a bit of 1920s glamour to give it a luxurious feel," she explained. "Birds played a small part, as we had become a pair of Finches! We wanted the overall day to feel relaxed and the evening to be like a bloody good night out!"

Mike and Manda got engaged in Vegas, so it was only natural that they go back to actually get married too. They wanted a fun and laid back day with no stress at all. They kept things pretty simple and just had fun with it! "Because we had been to Vegas previously we knew how crazy, carefree and fun it was", Manda explained. "We wanted the same ideologies for our wedding so this was the perfect place for us to tie the knot. The whole day exceeded our expectations. We had time to reflect later on in the evening, whilst sitting back in our hotel room looking over the dancing neons on the strip drinking vodka. I think we suddenly realised we had just got married in Vegas - that was quite a defining moment. It was such a significant, romantic and awesome feeling in which everything just connected."
