Nordica

April 16, 2014

Marissa and Lauren were married in the gardens of St. Anne's Academy in Victoria, British Columbia. They wanted their wedding to be intimate and frugal, except when it came to their photographs. They knew those had to be incredible so they booked the AMAZING Nordica Photography who flew over from Stockholm to shoot the day. The made the picnic baskets themselves, including almond stuffed figs which were grown, dried and made by Marissa's grandmother in Portugal. The flowers were bought from a local market - Marissa's bouquet cost $3.99! They also made all the décor themselves.

Kirsten and Gareth were marred at Wagner Cove in Central Park. They decided to skip the big wedding, choosing to say "I do" while on holiday in the USA. Kirsten's incredible blue dress was from Temperley London. "We met in 2008 at a mutual friend's birthday party and went on our first date to a sushi train a couple of months later", explained Kirsten. "Gareth tried to impress me by eating a packet of wasabi, without knowing about its eye-wateringly spicy effects."

Although a worry for a lot of brides and grooms, rain on your wedding day isn't the worst thing that can happen. Although you might be a bit damp (and hey, if you're in the UK you're probably quite used to being in a permanent state of saturation) I promise you your wedding will still be wonderful - even if the whole thing is outdoors! Yes, Aaron and Vicky planned for their entire summer wedding to take place on Willow Farm, Vicky's family home.

April 10, 2014

This is definitely a wedding I wish I was at. Louisa and Richie sure do know how to throw one hell of a party! The styling for the celebration was really centred around their venue - the basement of Shoreditch Town Hall called The Ditch. An unusual choice maybe (and one with no natural light!) but it fit perfectly with what the couple wanted. Louisa's dress was designed by Catherine Deane. She wore Badgley Mischka and her veil was vintage.

April 6, 2014

Jane and Andrew were married in Lissanoure Castle in Loughguile, Northern Ireland. Their day was eclectic from the start which began with the most unusual, but weirdly perfect, inspiration! "Jane found a couple of starting points for the visual style of the wedding early on", Andrew explained. "Firstly this photo of Gram Parsons wearing his amazing white cowboy suit with bold coloured leaves and flowers, and an Alice Temperley dress called the Long Eliah Flower Show Dress. Things evolved a long way from there. We used Pinterest to develop ideas with Jane's sisters and our lovely designer friend Kat Flint. In the end we had a lovely jumble of different bold colours, with some white and neutral tones from brown paper and hessian."

An usual wedding theme perhaps, but Antanas and Kristina knew exactly what they wanted for their Lithuanian wedding. "The first part of our theme was cherries", explained the bride. "Two red ripe cherries joined together, what better symbol of partnership? Red also means strong and passionate love. The sweetness symbolises happiness and the joined top symbolised commitment and togetherness. It became our logo for all of our stationary and guest favors. It was the background detail for the whole event."

April 3, 2014

If the thought of being the centre of attention on your wedding day fills you with nervous dread, then let me open up a world of new possibilities for you. Cat and Paul did things to suit them - completely. Not being a girly, girl or ever wearing dresses, two weeks before the wedding the bride decided to go with what made her feel comfortable. That meant wearing jeans, and not doing a 'grand entrance'. She didn't walk down the aisle at all, in fact there was no aisle. She and Paul greeted their guests together as they arrived.

Science and History Themed Museum Wedding: David & David

April 1, 2014

David and David met online in 2006. They chatted for a few days and then had their first date at a local tapas restaurant. They both studied at the University of Manchester, so they chose the Museum at the university for their wedding venue. It is an amazing Victorian gothic building, and whilst they didn't really want a 'theme' per-say, there was definitely a scientific and national history thread running throughout the celebration.
