Lauren and Dean wanted their wedding to be a big party for everyone, but mostly one that they'd really love to go to! They handmade pretty much everything ("I think I burned off my fingertips with hot glue over those few months" Lauren laughed) and hosted it on a private properly in Granville, MA.Read more...
Pretty Days

No matter how many weddings I feature, or how many cool, quirky and original décor and details I see, it is always the simple and emotional, small weddings, that really slay me. Elopements, intimate ceremonies, the great outdoors. Anna and Jarrah did exactly this, travelling from their home in Australia to a beach in France, with just their parents and very best friends in attendance.Read more...

Deanna and Mike were married in an art gallery in Calgary and their reception was in their favourite pub. They wanted their day to be fun for themselves and their guests so they kept things relatively simple, with minimal decorations, and just focused on the stuff that really mattered to them.Read more...

As soon as I saw Sara's incredible rainbow dress I just knew I had to feature this wedding. I mean, goodness, any bride that rocks a dress like that is guaranteed to have an amazing wedding. I wasn't wrong! The day was held at Camp Kinkora in Montreal where the bride used to go to summer camp as a kid.Read more...

Evan and Catherine were married at the iconic Phoenix Hotel in San Francisco and their reception was at the super cool Chambers Eat + Drink. They wanted a wedding that was edgy yet elegant - just like them! The venues they chose really helped to set that mood. "After a long search for wedding venues, we were feeling uninspired", Catherine began. "Pricey and cookie cutter was the theme for most of the spaces we looked at. We needed to find a place that inspired not only us but our guests."Read more...

Sandra and Kristijonas were married in Lithuania, at Jalta, an alternative restaurant in Vilnius. From the outside it looks like a wooden house, they serve food made from locally sourced ingredients and they have a DJ in a greenhouse (which is actually where they had their ceremony!) The tree-lined terrace garden was the perfect setting for their laid back and cosy reception.Read more...

Abigail and Lisa's wedding was eco, natural and laid back. Held at Wise Wedding Venue in Kent they did the majority of the décor themselves, or at the very least put their own personal spin on everything. Both girls opted for non-traditional wedding day outfits, and wore two suits each throughout the celebrations. To fit with the natural and eco wedding idea they had wooden rings made from paddock wood by Simply Wood Rings based in Chicago.Read more...

Ian and Jacqui were married in a 150 year old chapel called The Chantry, located between the south downs and High Weald in East Sussex. Right from the start of their planning they knew they wanted a village hall for their reception and chose Alciston and Selmeston Village Hall. They wanted a blank canvas that they could put their own stamp on.Read more...

When wedding photographer Anna Hardy told me that she just shot a wedding where the bride wore the Vivienne Westwood wedding dress from the first Sex and the City movie, I was excited, damn excited. As someone who not only owns the entire box set of SATC but pretty much watched in a week straight when I got it, I couldn't wait to see how a real bride looked in this iconic gown. And the answer? FIERCE.Read more...

Lara and Gav were married in Lara's parent's back garden. They set up a marquee and decorated it with collected and borrowed items from friends and junk shops. "The garden was beyond perfect despite the rain", explained the bride. "It has been lovingly created and maintained by my parents since they moved in 15 years ago. It has always played host to whimsical parties, and lent itself brilliantly to the occasion."Read more...

Agnes and Liam's Balham Bowls Club wedding was full of budget-friendly DIY details. "We did everything we could to not have a theme - if we liked something, we used it, regardless if it went with anything else or not!" the bride began. "We said from the outset that we wanted everything to be a joint decision, and Liam to be as involved as me in our choices."Read more...

Unbelievably, Myles and Cait spent just $2000 on their incredibly detailed Maine wedding. Held at PLD Auction Barn in Mechanic Falls, the wedding was thrifty and gorgeous. Cait wore a dress made up of two summer dresses from oasap.com, $8 shoes from Goodwill and borrowed jewellery. Myles' outfit was also thrifted from Goodwill stores.Read more...

The submission I received for Jessica and David's wedding began "If Wes Anderson was a wedding planner..." so instantly my interest was sparked. The Philadelphia wedding was a quirky Southern BBQ with retro touches. "I never knew what to say when people asked what the theme was", explained the bride. "I'd reply with 'It's a wedding... isn't that the theme?' I guess it was more about the color and the mood we wanted to create. I love retro fashion and I also love all those farm/ garden weddings all over wedding blogs. I also had our budget in mind and keeping in the budget helped make a lot of decisions about said theme... so maybe we can call it a budget retro summer garden party!"Read more...

Abbie and Daniel were married at The Paintworks in Bristol, a converted industrial building in the city's creative quarter. They didn't set out to have a theme but the bride's outfit was quite 50s, they served fish n chips and had an ice cream tricycle for desert, and they had a DJ who played only 90s music - so I guess you could say the wedding was all the things they liked!Read more...
