Aynhoe Park might be one of the weirdest and most wonderful wedding venues in the UK... because it's stuffed (boom boom!) full of taxidermy! Everywhere you look the walls are adorned with animals. They even have a full sized giraffe being held up by balloons! Rosie and James wanted somewhere unusual to host their alternative wedding and Aynhoe Park was just perfect.Read more...

The incredible wedding of Robin and Jeannine took place at Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens in August. "As a queer couple (gay, female identified Jeannine and gender/queer, trans identified Robin) we found it important to craft our wedding and the many details on our own so that it didn't fall into a too traditional event that we ourselves didn't fit into", they told me. "We used and encouraged gender-neutral language, used as many recycled materials as possible, and put our hearts and energy into all the aspects of what turned out to be an incredible day. Jeannine literally took the summer off from teaching for the first time ever and approached wedding planning in the same manner that she might develop curricula for her students. Loving all things retro, Lucy and Michael always knew that would be the theme of her wedding. When it came to actually planning their big day though, they wanted it to be unique so they threw in some colourful Mexican influences for good measure! They had a mariachi band, their decoration was colourful and they even served a Mexican inspired buffet feast! The groom's love of The Beatles couldn't be ignored, so the bride walked down the aisle to one of their sings and their tables were named after Beatles albums.Read more...

There must be something in the water because I've now featured three brides with blue hair in the past week. Well, it is the best hair colour after all! The reason I fell in love with this wedding has nothing to do with Kaylee's tresses though, and everything to do with the fact that they had the most kick ass day, on a minuscule budget. I love sharing weddings like this because they prove that it is completely possible to have an awesome wedding without spending a fortune. You just have to prioritise what you really want (in Kaylee and Jake's case their only big expense was the photography) and be smart about where you get everything else. Berlin is probably one of the coolest places I've ever been. There's this crazy juxtaposition of the old, overgrown and almost derelict looking architecture, with a really unique arty and creative vibe. I often get asked what the most alternative wedding I've ever featured is. As while there are some that always stick out in my mind (killer Vegas elopement, bride in a coffin, surprise ceremony!) that's not really what Rock n Roll Bride is about. Yes, I love the crazy, unique stuff, but I equally adore the cute little weddings where it's clear the couple have put their heart and soul into it, and planned a wedding that truly reflects them. Anna and Jack wanted a fun wedding with a party atmosphere. So they hired their venue, Inshriach House, for the entire week, and stayed there in the run up with some of their guests. John and Lucy were married at Larmer Tree Gardens in Wiltshire in September. They chose it because it had the pretty outside space that they wanted, and they were able to say their vows outside (which isn't always possible in the UK!) in their covered pavilion. "We are both artists, I paint and John is a photographer, and we are both deeply inspired by nature", said Lucy. "I am also borderline obsessed with the vision of an enchanted forest so we wanted our wedding to feel like a blurry childhood memory of a place that was so beautiful and fantastical that you're not sure whether it was real or not. We fell in love with Larmer Tree Gardens the minute we clapped eyes on it.
