I've heard way too many stories from people who've had to postpone or even cancel getting married simply because they couldn't afford it. That makes me so very sad. Of course the amount you spend has less than zero indication on how awesome your marriage will be, but if you have little or no savings, even a completely budget wedding can be out of the question.Read more...

When Freixenet, the Spanish cava producers, got in touch to ask if I wanted to have a party on them, and share the results on my blog, I nearly fell off my chair. Talk about my dream job! Then they told me they also wanted to include the chance for my readers to win enough cava to keep their wedding rocking well into the wee hours and I almost did a backflip!Read more...

Ahh the great British hen do... the chance for brides-to-be and their friends to blow off some pre-wedding steam, get royally sozzled and (most likely) cause a bit of harmless chaos in the process. I've always been a bit of a party girl, so far from something I frown upon, I can totally see the appeal of all of the above. In fact I totally did all of the above for my own!Read more...

I love a good proposal story. From viral videos of guys doing the most romantic and over the top gestures, right down to hearing that they just decided to get hitched over breakfast in bed one morning. However sometimes, even more than that, I love listening to a couple tell the story of how they first met, especially when they don't agree! "No, you pursued me!", "Whatever, it was you that eventually asked me out!" Although I don't always include it in the real weddings that I feature, I always ask everyone I interview for this blog those two questions. Firstly because it really helps to set up the story of their love, and usually helps to explain why they wanted to do certain things for their wedding, but mostly because I'm just a bit nosy!Read more...

Since 1933 they have been designing wedding attire for brides of all tastes, styles and budgets. I wouI wouldn't call myself particularly artistic. I love to write and I'm not bad at taking the odd photograph, but anything more fiddly and I'm all fingers and thumbs! So when Rachel Jeffrey got in touch asking if Gareth and I would like to visit her studio to make some rings, I was slightly apprehensive.Read more...

When I was engaged and started looking for wedding shoes I was quite frankly horrified at what was passing as acceptable footwear for brides. Gross, cream, satin monstrosities that cost £500? No thank you very much.Read more...

Festival weddings were big in 2012, huge in fact. Then 2013 rolled around and the idea exploded with more tents, tipis and rock concert weddings filling my inbox than ever before. And from the comments and emails that I still get from you guys on a daily basis, I think it's safe for me to say that this idea really isn't going anywhere for 2014 brides and grooms. It seems that more of you than ever are channelling your inner festival-goer and planning a wedding to reflect that.Read more...
