A Vintage Camera-Inspired Shoot

Kat

March 11, 2011

Photographer Tiffany Wayne and wedding blogger Brenda of Brenda's Wedding Blog got together to set up a beautiful vintage camera themed shoot to celebrate their love of all things vintage, photography and weddings! I am honoured that they've chosen Rock n Roll Bride to share their beautiful work! The colour scheme for this shoot was peach, brown, black and cream and featured many DIY projects in order to provide some DIY wedding inspiration. Tiffany and Brenda both got stuck into various DIY projects including the camera chocolate mold dessert favours (such a cute idea!), the floral arrangements - (they picked wild flowers from the side of the road), the cupcake film sleeves(they used real film to create cupcake holders), the candy bar bags that read “A Picture Perfect Ending - Sweet Dreams”, the roll of film for guests to take away (tied with charm “To Love and to Cherish”) and the veil created from tulle and a feather, purchased from a local fabric store.

Offbeat & Alternative Floral Inspiration

Kat

March 10, 2011

"We had the idea for a Rock n Roll themed stylized wedding shoot and one of our former client was perfect for it!" explained photographer Jessica. "MJ is a local tattoo artist and amazing painter. We set up in an apple orchard on a fall day and had a mix of vintage glass, flowers, instruments and an old radio from the 1930's. The shoot was styled by our assistant and partner-in-crime Brooke Biette and flowers were provided by the amazing Judy Bourgeois of Flora Fauna. The bottom of the bouquet even had a record that was melted down to go around it."

Recapture Designs – Re-Styled Vintage Dresses

Kat

March 1, 2011

This beautiful photo shoot sent over by Deborah Huber Photography was put together to showcase some of the designs sold by Oakland-based Recapture Designs (who do ship internationally!) They say, "Recapture specializes in re-styling vintage gowns for the modern bride. Most gowns are made with precious materials and laces that are difficult to find in today’s market. My goal is to re-create a dress to fit and flatter your figure and your style while preserving the beauty and integrity of the materials. With a wide variety of gowns from Victorian to the 1970′s, a bride is able to choose a design and style that is unique to her personality and her figure."

The Luxury Wedding Showcase

Kat

February 25, 2011

Everyone loves sweeties right? Well Rock n Roll Bride favourite (and provider of the sweetie table at the Rock n Roll Party in April...eeek!) Hannah of Sweet Dream Events sent over this vintage-inspired shoot she was a part of. The idea for the shoot was to promote a new bridal show she is involved in...and from the look of these images, the show is sure to be a good one. "This is what happens when a group of talented women get together to create a wedding fayre with a difference," Hannah told me. "Hannah (Sweet Dream Events), Carrie (Carrie Bugg Photography) and Natalie (Exquisite Bridal) met when they decided that the personal touch was severely lacking in the wedding industry in their area. And so, The Luxury Wedding Showcase was born. This shoot was to give those wishing to attend an insight into all their talents."

A Most Curious Wedding Fair – April 16th 2011

Kat

February 7, 2011

Rebecca started her business, A Most Curious Party, whilst she planned her 2008 wedding (It was a beauty! I blogged it here.) Her vintage styling company has gone from strength to strength in the last couple of years, however now she's going one step further and planning a bridal show with a difference! She explains, "I was totally disheartened by the barren landscape of boring wedding suppliers on offer to do my husband-to-be and I justice on our big day. Since then things have utterly changed for the better and there are so many great designer, makers, florists, vintage dress companies, photographers, stationers, you name it, on the scene who have changed the face of the wedding industry, not to mention the bloggers like the one only Kat from the one and only Rock n Roll Bride whose influence is immeasurable. Similarly, now, there are vintage wedding fairs popping up around the country and this can also, only be a good thing. But I still feel we can go one further people! The experts putting together vintage wedding fairs are doing a grand job and full respect to them, but maybe, just maybe vintage isn’t enough."

Katie & Olivia’s Natural Beauty

Kat

January 26, 2011

Today's first feature actually isn't wedding-related at all, but I just loved it so much that I had to share it anyway. Sisters Katie & Olivia's shoot took place at the home of photographer, and friend of their family, Lee Anne Havens of Flower Child Photography. The idea for the shoot was inspired by the girls' natural beauty and a desire from Lee Anne to create something unique. "It took me a long time to decide how and where to do this shoot, and in the end I settled on just doing everything at my home studio and made some crazy "costumes" for them," explained Lee Anne.

A Groovy Kinda Love – The 1960’s are BACK!

Kat

January 21, 2011

"The idea for a 60's inspired shoot came about after I noticed we’re seeing lots and lots of vintage 1950's style about and I figured it was about time the 1960's gave it a run for its money," explained photographer Shelly. "I had a vision of a pink bowler hat and from there, everything else fell into place." Shelly invited planner Kelly (of Boho Weddings) and Asher to model for her. "I knew I wanted mini dresses in a Mary Quant style and Debbie over at Danielle Lara Couture created these two especially for the shoot. When I went to collect them, I ended up picking up a couple of others at the same time – I just couldn’t help myself!"

A Quirky, British, Cupcakey Kinda Day

Kat

January 17, 2011

Oh I do love a pretty & retro photo shoot to brighten up a Monday morning and this fabulous one, sent over my Bethan of Haywood Jones Photography, fits the bill perfecto! "The main aim of this shoot was to achieve a real vintage glamour look and feel," began photographer Bethan. "We wanted a big slice of silver screen elegance with a large portion of delicious cupcakes on the side! My Pretty Little Things specialise in making veils and fascinators which hark through the eras of the 20's right through to the 50's and approached me to organise a vintage themed session. When organising the shoot, I contacted Queenies Cupcakes who have a shop in Ironbridge right around the corner to me, to see if we could use them as a location for part of the day. They were absolutely brilliant and we all had a good nibble on the cupcakes while we were there, work is so hard sometimes!"

A Dia De Los Muertos, Punk Rock Wedding Shoot

Kat

January 14, 2011

This awesome punk inspired wedding was actually a faux-wedding - a photo shoot set up by stylist & blogger Lauren of Every Last Detail and photographer's Jeff & Anna Katherine of K&K Photography. They wanted to showcase some awesome alternative wedding styling and they certainly achieved that. I am totally smitten and almost a little upset that it isn't a real wedding - this looks like the kind of party I want to go to!

Gorgeous Vintage Bouquets from DC Bouquets

Kat

January 10, 2011

I love it when a great idea comes together - especially when in some small way Rock n Roll Bride can help! The fabulous (and she sooo is!) Debs of DC Bouquets was browsing her favourite wedding blog (yes, yours truly's) one day back in April 2010 and she came across a photographer local to her in South Yorkshire, Dolly Photography. She loved her style and so contacted her to see if she would be up for photographing some of her latest vintage bouquet designs.

Beautiful Winter Floral Decor Ideas

Kat

December 23, 2010

I was only sent these gorgeous images yesterday, but I simply had to share them with you before Christmas as they really got me in the mood! Put together by florist Emily Thompson Flowers and the fabulous photographer Levi Stolove, the aim of the shoot was to showcase some brand new, gorgeous and unique winter decor ideas. The location used was Emily's beautiful shop in Brooklyn. How stunning would a winter wedding decorated like this be? I don't know about you, but I'm feeling super festive right now!

Pixel & Hank Handmade Bridal Accessories

Kat

September 27, 2010

Photo shoots are one of my favourite ways to promote...well...anything (we all know I've done it enough!) So when this shoot, put together by etsy seller, Pixel & Hank, to showcase her gorgeous handmade accessories landed in my inbox I was sold. "All pieces are designed and handcrafted by me" designer Daisy told me. "I create fabric boutonnieres, funky veils and accessories. My products are different because they offer a twist on what is expected without being to outrageous."

Messing About on the River with Joanne Fleming Designs

Kat

September 13, 2010

I wanted to start this sunny and bright Monday morning with a bit of dress 'porn' for you all. Who doesn't adore looking at pastel colours, short hems and gorgeous attention to detail - all perfectly modelled by a stunning rockabilly-esque model? Exactly. The dresses are all designed and made by Brighton based, Rock n Roll Bride favourite Joanne Fleming. They are (in order of appearance) Clothilde, Audrey and Pieretta. Joanne also made the pretty damn stunning headpiece to go with the Pieretta dress. I am a particular fan of this dress in fact - made from metallic silk organza, it has the wonderful quality of tarnishing slightly over time, so the dress starts to look properly vintage very quickly.

A Really Dramatic Impact

Kat

July 20, 2010

As a pale chick with brightly coloured hair myself, I felt an instant affinity to Cheyenne's photo shoot. Photographer Sarah wanted to contrast with something dark and almost gothic is style as she knew this would create a really dramatic impact. "The black lipstick was definitely my starting point for the rest of the styling. Our first outfit was the lace trimmed bodysuit with the patterned tights and long coat. We shot in the late afternoon, but it was still over 100 degrees here (LA), she was a real trooper. I thought that this would be an interesting approach to a boudoir session with a bride not into the traditional lacy panty pics. I hope I find a bride who would be down for it! ha. All of the outfits were from my vintage and thrifted collection of pieces."
