I'm filing this under 'engagement' because I'd love to think someone will be inspired by these for their own engagement shoot. So, technically this isn't a wedding-related photo shoot at all, but when Chris & Dani of Chris Barber Media headed up to Scotland last week, they ended up taking some pretty damn stunning images. and well, I just HAD to share them. When photographer's Kel & Mar turned up at Richard & Josephine's hotel room they were brimming over with ideas and excitement for their engagement shoot. However, after seeing the chaos of the room all the ideas were scrapped in favour of a much more 'real' photo shoot location. Jennifer & Ian's vintage garden engagement shoot is just so British - I love it! The slightly damp weather, the funky patterned wellies, the wheelbarrow and the greenhouse... I'm very much looking forward to seeing this couple's vintage themed Scottish wedding in May and I hope photographer Fjona will be sending the images straight over to me afterwards - think VW van, Scottish tablet in jam jars, old fashioned luggage labels and more wellies. Follwing the popularlity of the 80's themed engagement shoot I featured on Tuesday, I wanted to share Emma & Micheal's cabin crew themed session sent over by the wonderful Julia Boggio (who also shot my Vintage Boudoir session.) When Emma told Julia her idea about doing her pre-wedding shoot in the Virgin Atlantic rig, she jumped at the chance! "After all, Daniel Craig had been filmed in the rig for one of the Bond films and where Daniel goes, well, I go." Julia told me. With Emma living in the UK and Micheal in the US, Virgin Atlantic played a huge role in their relationship so far - ferrying them both back and forth across the pond. "Emma contacted Virgin about her idea and they were more than happy to oblige. " Julia continued "They love a good love story! The Virgin Atlantic rig, or Miss Rigorous, as she is named, is used mostly for training purposes at VA. It's an entire interior of a Virgin plane. Because the rig is quite dark and the lighting is suitable for an airplane, not a photo shoot, I had to come to the party equipped with loads of Broncolor lighting, colour gels, and an assistant. Emma rented an old style hostess outfit and Michael played the role of lusty Business Class passenger. We had a great deal of fun and I'm really looking forward to their wedding later this summer."Read more...

What's not to love about this shoot? Alex & Kaori's downtown LA engagement session was the perfect expression of who they are as a couple - lovers of LA and fashion (they are both designers.) I will never stop loving the Vivienne Westwood Lady Dragon shoes (I have them in yellow & black) and Alex's fabulous red & white checked shirt and black bow tie combo. Not looking for the traditional engagement session, Melissa & Colin went to Rhys Albrecht for an original concept...and he came up a treat! "I pitched 2 ideas to them." Rhys explained "First, an 80's inspired squash court shoot with knee socks, headbands and short shorts. Second, and this is a direct quote from my initial pitch to them, "a modern twist on the classic après-ski look. I'm picturing ski boots, tights, long johns, touqes, skis, parkas, etc. With bold colors. Like, if you could imagine Vogue merged with Nylon Magazine to do a "How to Glam Up Your Après-Ski" issue." Fashion designer Kelly & her fiance, Martin's engagement is a total joy of faux fur, retro chic! Their amazing-sounding Halloween themed wedding will be taking place in October this year and after Kelly told me she's not only making her bridesmaid dresses but her own wedding dress I was literally already chomping at the bit to see the results! Bonnie & Cabe's Santa Barbara engagement session is the perfect prequel to their wedding, also in Santa Barbara, this summer. However when the couple first told photographer Paul they wanted their engagement session to be at their apartment and favorite local spots, he was actually kind of worried that the photos would turn out less dynamic and exciting to what he usually likes to shoot. He needn't have worried!
