Well then you my dear are in luck because that's exactly what I have for you today! Soya and Skip met in a rock club in Lincoln and after just a year of dating she proposed on 29th February! "From the beginning we knew we didn't want a traditional wedding", the bride began. "They are lovely and all, but they can really lack personality. We used things that we love to decorate. My favourite part of the whole day was the ceremony. It was emotional but with lots of light-hearted laughs. Our readings and vows summed us both up perfectly. Sharon and Huw didn't really wanted to have a wedding theme but through just picking things they liked they ended up with a wedding that reflected their love of music and of London. "When we started to plan the wedding we were adamant that we were not going to have a theme but I think we ended up with a London one", Sharon began. Rachel and Neil were married at Derwentwater Youth Hostel in April. Having a small budget of just £5000 didn't stop this couple going all out though. The bride wore two dresses, the rooms were was filled with amazingly creative décor ideas and they even had a bouncy castle! I was rather over-excited when I laid eyes on Helen and Andy's Lake District wedding, shot by the amazing Neil Douglas Photography. I mean what could be more incredible than getting wedding day portraits like these in a setting like that!? Hats off to the photographer of course, but also to the awesome couple for not being afraid to potentially get a little wet or muddy. I'd love to see more brave couples like this please, who's with me? The wedding was held in Buttermere, with the ceremony in a local church and the reception in a tipi in Buttermere field. The couple didn't have a huge budget and opted to DIY and thrift a lot. Helen wore a dress which she bought off eBay for £100 and customised with her grandmother's vintage fur (a last minute edition due to the weather).Read more...

Chloe and Hamish were married in London in April. They wanted their wedding to be fun, silly and totally non-traditional. They were thrilled at how everything went down, starting with their ceremony at Hackney Town Hall. "Hamish is obviously not Hamish's given name, and it hasn't been legally changed", began Chloe. "The registrar was happy to refer to her as Hamish throughout the ceremony, but had to use the given name once. I won't say what it is, but it doesn't suit her at all and it always makes me laugh. I thought I'd probably have to suppress a grin, but when the moment came I absolutely collapsed in fits of laughter and couldn't compose myself, which set all the guests off too. Natalie & Paul chose to marry on the same day as the groom's parents. Having lost his mother a few years previous, having the wedding on such a significant date meant a lot to the family. Beth and Drew met at university where they were both in the film society club. They wanted the theme of their March wedding to reflect the way they met but not in a really obvious way. They inserted subtle film references such as the readings, their photo booth, their music choices and the table numbers. Their quirky Alice in Wonderland theme was beautifully incorporated throughout, from the stationery and paper goods to the high tea style catering and even the bride's two fabulous mini top hats! I am always so incredibly inspired when I see weddings where the budget was small. Far from it seeming like the couple had to make compromises, the ones I get to share always seem to prove that a small budget doesn't have to mean a budget-looking wedding. In my opinion it is actually often the weddings with the smaller budgets that seem to have the most heart, the most personal details and the most inspiring ideas.Read more...

Lorna & Dave were married in Southend in April. Their ceremony took place at The Culture Centre, right on the pier, and their reception was at Ocean Beach, a restaurant on the beach. "The theme for our wedding was British seaside with a touch of vintage", wrote Lorna. "The beautiful blue sky and sunshine really made the day that extra bit special. It was amazing! I'm not really supposed to have favourites, but Betty might just be one of the most beautiful and radiant brides I've ever seen... I am totally smitten with her 1940s vintage lace dress (bought on eBay for £40!) and that adorable white faux flower crown and simple bouquet combo. Total perfection. There was no doubt in my mind that I had to share this wedding with you. My heart skipped a beat as I clapped eyes on the beautiful Sarah and her stunning movie starlet-esque red wedding dress from The Couture Company and I flicked through Toast of Leeds' photographs holding my breath. What an utterly beeeeeeeautiful wedding. "Our venue was Buckland Hall in the Brecon Beacons National Park, a country house in the Welsh mountains, that we could personalise and make our own for a long weekend", Sarah began. "We had free reign of the house and grounds, which we decorated with family photos and personal belongings that we've collected during our time together. Sixty of our guests stayed on the night of our wedding and close family the night before. Dan & Charlotte had a two-day wedding celebration in Wales. They started off planning just the Saturday wedding by the beach with a pagan blessing, as this was what Charlotte really wanted. However they soon realised that legally, and for family reasons, they would need to have another ceremony with a registrar present, in a venue sanctioned for wedding ceremonies. "I did view having to have both ceremonies as a bit of a compromise", Charlotte explained, "But rather than just doing the legal bit in a quick service on our own in a registry office or something, we set about finding somewhere just as beautiful for that part and made it into it's own distinctive day. We also really wanted our wedding to last a bit longer than the usual one day which is why we split it into two. I would advise anyone planning their wedding to think about spinning things out a bit! Emma & Trevor's farmhouse wedding took place in February. Donington Park Farmhouse, an amazing space in Derbyshire, was really what set the theme of the day. The couple wanted the décor they chose to suit the surroundings, and so the wedding evolved into a rustic inspired theme. I'm not going to lie, I'm a little freaked out by this shoot... in fact I'm damn right scared. I don't think I'd like to get stuck in a dark alley with this pair as lovely as I bet they are when they're not covered in fake blood. Amy & Paul went all out with this post-wedding shoot - murder, fake blood, suicide and all! Warning: this baby is not for the faint hearted. "I'm a vintage events organiser so the vintage vibe was a natural way to go", began the bride. "We’re both big 50s & 60s fans so we tried to combine the two in terms of the fashion but we didn't want a fancy dress wedding.
