Unpretentious & Family-Focused DIY Wedding in Anglesey: Anna & Adam

I'm not gonna lie, I've been looking forward to featuring Anna and Adam's wedding for a while. Anna is a wedding photographer herself, and I'm a big fan of her work, so I knew her own wedding would be something special. The wedding was 100% DIY. They picked a venue that wasn't specifically for weddings, but meant a great deal for them. They didn't want to spend a lot of money, so did most things as frugally as possible. Their main concern was that the day involved all the special people in their lives. The wedding took place by the sea in Anglesey in May. "We didn't have a wedding theme as such", began Anna, "we just wanted it to be colourful, relaxed, fun, full of laughs, unpretentious, family-focused and very much DIY and personalised to us and the people and things we love. We wanted everyone there to feel special and comfortable and get involved as much as they wanted to. Lots of weddings focus just on the bride and groom, but to us it was also very much a day about our wonderful group of friends and family. We’re both incredibly close to them and it was really important to us to celebrate the fact that we weren't just coming together as a couple, but also as part of a precious larger community."

Somerset Festival Wedding: Rachel and Luke

November 5, 2014

Rachel and Luke were married in a field at Fernhill Farm in Somerset. They had their ceremony outside and their reception and after party in she sheep shearing barn! "Our legal ceremony was very low key at a registry office in Bristol the day before the wedding so we could have a personal ceremony at the wedding venue", began the bride. "We asked our friend Doug Francisco, Ringmaster of the The Invisible Circus, to guide our unofficial vows."

My Beautiful Bride

October 28, 2014

There are some weddings I see which (forgive me, I know this is terribly unpatriotic) I instantly think, "damn, that's SO COOL, it can't be a British wedding". It's nice to be completely wrong though, especially with this wedding. In fact "SO COOL" doesn't even cover it a little bit... April and Dennis are off the richter scale! The Dutch/Kiwi groom and his American bride met in Amsterdam while they were both travelling around Europe. Long story short, they fell in love and settled in London. They were hitched on the roof of Rockwell House, a studio space in east London that comes complete with epic views of the capital's skyline.

Michael and Gordon were married in Brighton. This super stylish pair both wore two amazing outfits each - Michael's both from Burberry and Gordon's, Reiss. They wanted their wedding to be laid back and fun for their guests and themselves. They had just 40 people there and did things that made them really happy. That included funfair rides at the end of Brighton Pier and a romantic sky message!

October 18, 2014

You might think that there's nothing more traditional in English weddings than a country garden setting, but Abby and Hoi's big day was anything but quaint! They took the traditional elements and turned them on their head. From the bride's short polka dot dress and purple hair, to the Hello Kitty cake and the vintage ice cream cart for dessert, this was a wedding that was quintessentially 'them'.

Retro Inspired London Golf Club Wedding: Ria & Nicky

Kissing Gate

October 11, 2014

Two brides, two gorgeous dresses and two sides of bridesmaids! Ria and Nicky wanted a wedding that screamed 'them'! That meant they threw caution to the wind, and tradition out of the window. "I’m friends with Nicky’s sister so we met on a few social occasions, such as parties, concerts and completing a London to Brighton race", began Ria. "However we finally developed a fancy to each other when a group of us went to Proms in the Park in 2011. I was technically ‘straight’ at the point I met Nicky, so she had no idea I liked her! Since that night we have been inseparable and the rest as they say is history."
