Medieval Banquet Wedding

March 10, 2015

Ross and Gem were married at the Medieval Banquet Hall at the Park Hall Hotel, which set the theme for the day. "Our inspiration came from our love of ‘old’ England", began the bride. "We adore its majesty and history. We weren't particularly taken by the ‘average’ wedding with pastel colours, white linen, paper straws and sugared almonds, ans we wanted something people would remember. I also wanted to do loads of DIY in the run up. We spent a lot of time making sure that everyone would be entertained throughout. Not many weddings have fire eaters and King Arthur as the toastmaster!

Happy Sunday one and all. I got back from my Vegas trip yesterday afternoon and I'm up early and raring to get back to work. I don't know about you, but as much as I love to travel, I almost love to come home even more. Getting back into your routine after a week of excess is quite the simple pleasure! I'll be writing a much more detailed post all about my trip stateside soon (I have some epic Vegas recommendations for those of you that might be getting married or honeymooning there) but for now I wanted to close the week with yet another beautiful wedding.

Assassynation

February 18, 2015

Lindsay and Steve originally planned to elope in Las Vegas, but when the bride fell pregnant those plans had to change! "We had booked our wedding ceremony and flights to Vegas to get married in October 2014, followed by a UK Day of the Dead themed reception a week later", Lindsay began. "A week after we did this, I found out I was pregnant! Cue cancelling of the Vegas plans and, shotgun wedding in London, and the nicknaming of bump as B.V (Baby Vegas)! We brought our plans forwards to August and, fortunately, all of our other suppliers were super accommodating and we were able to move all our UK plans forward without a hitch."

My Beautiful Bride

February 13, 2015

Dani and Mark mat three years ago at Balham Bowls Club in south London. So when it came to choosing a venue for their October wedding, nowhere else could have been more perfect! "The night we met I was quite hungover and was out for a friend’s birthday, Mark was out for some drinks with his friend (and best man) Paul. Depending on who tells the story, I apparently gave Mark ‘the eye’ as he walked into the pub, which prompted him to start talking to me later in the evening, OR (my version) I don’t remember looking at Mark as he came in and wondered why he was staring at me all night. Either way, he bought me a rum and coke and we were inseparable ever since."

With the surname 'Button', Lauren and Nick had to have some cute button details in their October wedding! The day took place in Hackney, East London, where they live. "The inspiration for our wedding was our location", wrote the bride. "We started with an idea for a traditional East End wedding, a church service followed by a ‘knees-up’ in a local boozer. Nick’s parents got married in the same church in Haggerston so that was really special. All of our other ideas started to form around this really."

Ali and Gem are both into the arts, so having their wedding at the groom's place of work, The Royal Shakespeare Theatre was the perfect choice! They wanted a wedding that reflected both of them and avoided tradition and trends at all costs! The groom actually sent me the most amazing email while they were planning their wedding (which I couldn't help but share!) so it really is a thrill to see how their wedding turned out!

Being big foodies, Billy & Laura knew they wanted to serve up an amazing feast at their wedding. But they wanted to do it in their own way, so a Full English Breakfast it was! "Overall we just wanted our wedding to be the best party anyone had ever been to", wrote the bride. "We wanted great food, music and laughter. We definitely wanted our food to be different as we’d attended 8 or 9 weddings the year before and had (albeit very tasty) the same meal over and over."
