A power cut the morning of the wedding might be most couple's worst nightmare, but Tyler and Jodi embraced it! The wedding was held at a private beach house in Malibu and the lack of power actually made their wedding even more special. Sure, they they had to get a bit creative with some aspects, such as the bride having to air-dry her hair, serving a BBQ for the meal and having no entertainment or music, but it really worked out so well! Jamie and Mat's intimate wedding was held by the marina in Carins, a tropical paradise in the north of Queensland. Their ceremony was right by the water, and their reception was held at Salt House restaurant. "We met while I was working at the Cairns night markets airbrushing hats", began the bride. "I noticed Mat walk into the markets and prayed he didn't come to my booth as I was covered in paint... but over he came to order some hats. I stumbled through conversation with him, discovering we were both originally from the small rural town. It was definitely lust at first sight! Marina & Phil wanted a small and intimate destination wedding in Maui. They love to travel and adore the water so a ceremony at Ali'i Kula Lavender Farm followed by an after dinner boat cruise was perfect! "We love the outdoors", Marina wrote. "In particular, we love picnics with a great view. That's what we ended up doing - a wonderful picnic on a mountain on a tropical island. We laugh that we could not decide whether to get married on a mountain or on a tropical island, so did both. Shooting a bride in water is nothing new, but there was just something about this Lady in the Lake inspired shoot that spoke to me. I love the bride's beautiful blue, green and purple mermaid hair (obviously) and the simple yet edgy styling ideas are pretty damn awesome aren't they? Tenille & Christian were married at Maritime Museum in Fremantle, West Australia. The venue totally set the tone for their vintage nautical themed wedding. "I found working with our theme to be quite easy", explained Tenille. "The colour scheme worked and it was easy to pinpoint and find things to match our theme. If you have Photoshop and some time to be creative then you can save loads of money doing things like menus and table names yourself. I also highly recommend a cocktail party wedding as guests get to mingle and no one is stuck at a table. For their November wedding, Adriana & Daniel were keen to inject as much of both their cultures (Brazilian & British) into the day as possible. The event was held at Iate Clube de Búzios, a yacht club in Rio de Janeiro. The bride designed her own dress and used handmade lace from Renda Renascença with the help of dressmaker Inês Uemura. The inspiration behind this beautiful Californian wedding, sent over to me by Jerry Yoon Photography, was the ocean. The couple, who met through a mutual friend in Philadelphia and them moved to California, had visited The Monterey Bay Aquarium during their first year living together. "I loved it," the bride told me " the intense blues and greens when you looked down in the water, to the contrasting sand and beaten rocks. I love the ocean and anything relating to it. During that visit, I took a bunch of Polaroid photos at the museum and our walks around Monterey and Pacific Grove. Years later, when we were looking for a location for our wedding, I came across those original Polaroids of Lovers Point Park, and I instantly knew this is where we were getting married."Read more...

"My inspiration for this shoot came from the bride her name is Alison and she has a pet bunny as well as a cupcake tattoo on her wrist," photographer Tab McCausland told me. "So when I started to plan doing my first trash the dress photography class I didn't want it to be just a boring setting. Sooooo we went all out cake, hats, tea pots, a little tuxedo for the bunny, little caterpillar, table set up the works! I put a little teaser shot from Sarah & Justin's beautiful wedding on my facebook fan page a few weeks ago, and within about 3 minutes it had received about 40 'likes' which pretty much convinced me (like I didn't know already) that you guys are going to totally heart this one. The elegant New York wedding took place at Bridgewaters Restaurant, New York. Mary & Sam were married in a private bay in Picton, New Zealand. Their biggest challenge for their wedding was that they lovingly (and painstakingly) restored a 70 foot boat to transport their guests from the ceremony site to their reception at Herzog Winery! "Working to restore a non-functioning 70-foot launch so we could transport our guests was... well, it was Rock n Roll in fact that we had no sleep, too much to do, and had to call in our amazing family to bail us out! Lori & Nick were married in Hawaii in November and weren't 100% happy with their professional photographs. While they were lovely, they didn’t have any pictures of Lori getting ready, and very few pictures that broke any boundaries. Lori loved her dress, and she really wanted to have some more shots taken that she could really treasure, "That’s when they found me," explained photographer Sarah Maren. "We got together at the lovely Citizen Hotel in downtown Sacramento where Lori and her Mom had spent a girls night. We were able to get pictures of Lori’s Mom helping her get dressed (something she missed out on doing at the actual wedding because she was busy setting up the ceremony space.) We then braved the cold and rain and rocked out an incredible portrait session of this beautiful couple. We ended things under the freeway with Lori lying next to a drainage grate.
