One Damn Cool Wedding

Kat

July 1, 2009

That is the only way I can describe this wedding. I am swooning as I type away. Jenny & Johnny are way too stylish and way too cool, their hair ROCKS (I wish I had the balls for a cut like Jenny's - mohawks are hot!) and of course their tattoos look awesome (Jenny is a hairdresser and Johnny is a tattoo artist, can you tell!?) In fact I don't think their is anything I don't like about this wedding - Jenny's vintage dress = gorgeous, the flower girl = cute (dress from etsy) the ring ninja (oh yes, no ring bearers here) = beyond wicked. One of my favourite details had got to be their unique guest 'book', an original piece art work designed by Johnny of the two of them, that each guest signed. The couple tied the knot in Rosa Parks Circle in downtown Grand Rapids. There had never been a wedding held here before as it is usually used for concerts and festivals in the summer and as an ice rink in winter. For more, be sure to check out photographer Jill's blog and the couple's slideshow eeek! Thank you so much to Jill for sending me these, you have made my month!

Theological

A scholoristic wedding with a Best Girl rocking it in a top hat is something to be shared. Sharon & Dan definitely went all out to make sure their wedding was truly original, even so far has having the one of a kind 1925 Studebakeras their wedding transport. They also had a theologian conduct their ceremony which was written with the work of Lord Byron, William Morris and Walt Whitma in mind. If you want to know more about this highly intellectual wedding, check out the Groom's Blog! Credit: Studio J

Garden Rose

Kat

June 30, 2009

I have something to say and it may be shocking to some of you...I don't 'get' Martha Stewart...what is they fascination? I'm just as crafty as the next geek but something about her repulses me just a little bit. Maybe it's because the first time I ever heard of her was when she went to jail (I'm in the UK, not Mars by the way) or because whenever I catch her on Wedding TV (yes I am that sad...) I feel inclined to run away. I mean, she's not very rock n roll is she? However, I just saw this wedding on her ridiculously kitch (although it pains me to know it's not even in an ironic way) wedding website, and despite the source this wedding is so uber gorgeous that I have to share the love. John & Lily married in Lily's parent's back garden which had great sentimental value for the couple. Lily's beautiful bouquet was made of bridal garden roses, dahlias, orchids, lily of the valley, jasmine, sweetpeas, and scented geranium, all tied together with a cute blue ribbon. She also ordered some custom Liberty fabric clutches for her Bridesmaids, each designed to fit the individual girl's personality. Clicky here for more images and info, and let me know - am I the only wedding obsessive that doesn't love the Stewart?

An Inspired Choice

Photographers Craig & Chanelle Segerius-Bruce met Andy & Kim way back in 2007 in South Africa, when they (the photographers) were on their own honeymoon. The wedding took place at Parley Manor in Dorset and Kim wore a Benjamin Roberts dress. My favourite of all these images, has to be the Jeff Newsom-inspired swirly light shot..mean, moody and very very cool. I am doing a photo shoot with Chanelle soon..I am very excited about it as the concept we have come up with is quite different to what you might be seeing everywhere else right now...hint: I'm getting all crafty with black tulle!

A Vintage Masterpiece

If Ginny & Ed's vintage wedding isn't featured on every wedding blog out there I will eat my..well, hat. Does photographer Josh Goleman get the best clients or what?! Remember these guys for example? Yep...amazing! Although my automatic reaction is usually to be against the idea of asking guests to dress as per the theme of your wedding, I have to admit the effect of everyone vintaged-up together is phenomonal to say the least. I am literally dying of excitement to share these!

Outdoorsy, Shabby Chic Gorgeousness

Kat

June 26, 2009

I am slightly reluctant to say this is one of my favourite, rustic, outdoorsy, shabby chic weddings ever as I seem to be saying things like that a lot..but I kinda can't help it. I adore every single details about this wedding, from the cute (almost kitch!) Mr&Mrs balloons to the Bride's stunning dress and shoes (shoes from Nordstrom, details on the dress to come once the couple get back from Honeymoon!) These will be popular with you all I'm sure of it. Sarah Yates you rocked this photography, thanks so much for all the sharing!

Kat

June 24, 2009

Okey dokey I think this most be the last post for today because I appear to have gone a little overboard in the old blogging department plus I am secretly hoping the hubby will be taking me out on a date tonight! These are an amazing set to round the day off with however as I got the cutest email accompanying the submission from Bride-to-be Soila Elena, who said: Hello Kat Let me start off by saying I'm your biggest blog stalker. I recently had my bridal session done with the coolest Angela D Photography- I told her what I wanted and showed her some of your posts and we went to work- I'll be married soon and so I asked her not to post any with my face and she did a great job! I hope you like them -because I loved them and it was because of you, so thank you very much. Now come on, am I gonna really say no to that!? See you all tomorrow you gorgeous creatures, and if you're in California, be sure to enter the Tinywater Photography contest!

A Seriously Amazing Wedding!

Kat

June 24, 2009

So you thought their Jess & Dana's engagement's were amazing right? Well check their wedding out. Ahhhh I am in love and lust all at the same time! The Groom's crazy cool suit was made from a vintage pattern and the couple said they were going for "a mix-mash of styles with a vintage feel" which I have to say totally works. Why on Earth do you have to stick on one theme?! The Bride didn't wear a wedding dress, she picked it up from her favourite shop in Australia. A ridiculously huge thank you to photographer/videographer extraordinaire Hailey Bartholonew of You Can't Be Serious. I am forever if your wedding debt!

Utterly Sweet Weddings

Kat

June 24, 2009

I have a couple of gorgeous sets from Sweet Monday Photography to share with you today, starting with the stunning, rustic wedding of Naama & Greg. What drew me to this wedding straight away was Naama's beautifully simple and cute dress but what kept me going through all the photographs was all the gorgeous little details they put into their day. The couple were married at Heritage Square Museum in Los Angeles and Neema got her dress from Ebay, oh yes! It was a real family affair with all the flowers coming from her Mum's garden and her sister Melissa makingall the stationary. The couple also put all the favours and table numbers together themselves. The result is a completely gorgeous DIY soiree!

Fashion Envy

I am jealous, elated and over-excited all at the same time after discovering Piksi's flickr stream. Have you ever seen a girl with such an amazingly polished style? The 60's vibe is perfect for her pixie cute look, I would go crazy if I was to find a wedding in the same style. Imagine Bridesmaids in some outfits like these...<> Some of my fashion highlights of her gorgeous clothes (that I want to steal) include - her adorable heart bag from Minna Parikka, the cream, ruffle-topped dress by IVANAhelsinki and the swing, pleated grey coat from H&M...man, my wardrobe is so dull!

A Low-Key Party

Kat

June 20, 2009

Jess & Mike were really excited about having a really low-key party where their friends from all over and families could all be together and that's exactly what they delivered. The wedding was all in one place at the Valley Green Inn up in Fairmount Park in Philadelphia. It was a quick outdoor ceremony officiated by Jess' uncle. The couple chose not to have rings and opted for a very simplistic approach to their flower, using little bundles of wild flowers for the bouquets. Jess made her own gorgeous red dress out of a vintage evening gown and also made all the decorations inside the restaurant which included tin can lanterns, string lights and a garland hung from the ceiling. Jess and Mike weren't too concerned with lots of family groups, but more with photos of everyone hanging out and having a good time. Colin Leaman came along to assist the main photographer Amanda and set up a little photo booth area for which Jess brought along tons of hats and wigs and other props for her guests to use in the funny photos. As an added touch, the couple requested friends and family write down three songs that they would love to hear at the wedding on their invitation replies so that evertbody got to hear something they liked at the reception

Rock n Roll Bride In Print.

Kat

June 18, 2009

So about 6 months ago I received an email from Wedding Ideas Magazine saying our wedding had been submitted to them as a Real Wedding feature by our photographers English Rose and would we be happy for them to share them. Being the huge poser that I am, of course I said yes. So I picked up a copy of the magazine today and although some of the photographs they chose I don't really like (I think my face looks huge in the pain photograph for example!) and the article is beyond a cheese-fest, it is a little bit exciting to be in print...and can you believe they even called me a Rock Chick...maybe they knew...
