Lover’s Day Out

Kat

October 24, 2009

The gorgeous and ever lovely Josephine Sicad sent these over to me yesterday telling me the story of the engagement session of Yvon & Moyo. Remember her own engagement session that I featured a while back - Nobody Can Be Uncheered by a Balloon? (her own words) Well this one is just as glorious! The idea was 'A Lover's Day' a day in the life so to speak. I literally drooled as I checked these out. You will too! Thanks to the amazing Josephine for sending these over. It is always a joy to receive a n over excitable email from you! Credit: Josephine Sicad Photography

Emotional & Theatrical

Kat

October 23, 2009

Classy, elegant, retro. These are the words that came to me as soon as I saw Rebecca & Justin's 1950s inspired engagement session. The shoot took place at The Ritz Ybor in downtown Tampa, a venue which perfectly reflected photographer Alicia's vision for the session. Rebecca's polka dot dress was from PinUp Girl Clothing and Justin looked the part in his trilby hat (which retails at $75 but he picked up for $6!) and waistcoat combo. Thanks to Alica for sharing these wonderful images with us

Rock n Roll Perfect

Kat

October 22, 2009

It doesn't get more Rock n Roll perfect than this! Sommer & Dan's wedding took place in an old mill is Somerset, New Jersey which is owned by Dan's parents. The bride wore a 1950s prom dress from Ebay and snakeskin Kate Spade shoes. The groom rocked it in a custom suit with spiderweb lining and the bridesmaids looked the part in leopard print shoes. To top off the day, Bruce, the family pet rooster, served as ring bearer and apparently he did a great job! Thanks to Siobhan for sharing this awesome wedding with us...Ooooh I adore my readers! Lady Diana

The awesome Marianne Taylor (who shot my pinky, punky princess shoot) just sent me a selection of her most recent engagement sessions and Sam & Adam's jumped out at me right away. Not only have I got a unhealthy obsession with toy cameras right now (they used a Diana camera as a prop) but the couple are just to damn right funky for words. I am loving Mr. Whippy ice cream, the light up heart shaped display, the neon back lights and of course the fact that these images are quintessential London baby! Thanks to the ever gorgeous Marianne for sending these over. Credit: Marianne Taylor Photography

Beautiful You

October 21, 2009

I have to be honest, when I received an email from Evelyn Eslava asking if I wanted to share a photo shoot featuring vintage dresses and horses I wasn't immediately blown away...I'm not the outdoors type should we say! But when she sent the images through yesterday, boy was I proven wrong? I am in love! Top secret news: Myself and my gorgeous hubby Gareth are doing a photo shoot this week (eek how exciting!) and we will most certainly be using these as inspiration - in fact I have already emailed this shoot to our photographer to check out. If only I can pull off that effortlessly chic vintage look myself...hum... Thanks to Evelyn for sending these over and to the models Lianna, Lydia & Lauren for being too gorgeous for words

Slurpee Bride

Kat

October 17, 2009

Is it just me or doe s Rachel look a lot like the gorgeous Anna Friel?! Off topic slightly but I just had to thrown that out there. The idea for this shoot came from the bride herself. She had always been a huge fan of Tori Amos and so told photographer Duston Todd that around the time that her idol got married, and in reference to her song 'Jackie's Strength', she was quoted to have said "There’s one side of me that could very easily have ended up at the 7-Eleven sitting outside drinking a Slurpee in my wedding dress and just missing the whole thing. And then there’s the other one that did make it to the church. So, this song is about the one that drank the Slurpee. She’s still out there somewhere.” So that's what they did - they shot outside a 7-Eleven with a slurpee. Cute and elegant all at the same time. Thanks to Duston for sending these over. Le swoon. I know I say this a lot but eeek I am so excited to share Vince & Amanda's wedding. I have been lusting over it ever since Lisa of Ophelia Photography showed me a sneaky peak and the full wedding certainly lives up to my hype! The candy coloured wedding took place at Minoru Chapel and UBC Boathouse in Vancouver and Amanda's dress was handmade by her Mother - how rad is that!? Lisa you rock my flipping world girl. Thanks so much for sharing these with Rock n Roll Bride. I heart you!

Kind of A Big Deal

Kat

October 16, 2009

So I may have written a massive article about how fab Erica Berger is just a two days ago, but when she showed me these photographs and told me the couple found her through Rock n Roll Bride...well I wasn't going to say no to sharing these little beauties was I!? Leigh & Corbett are kind of a big deal (was that a line from Anchorman?hehe). He is the co-creature of the "Saw" franchise and she is an actress and was in The Young & The Restless - I have famous readers don't ya know?! Apparently they love me and went nuts when they saw Erica's work on my blog. I'm a little bit over-excited about that. Woooooo. Oh. And their wedding absolutely rocked. Thanks Erica, Leigh & Corbett...love you too!

I Saw a Shooting Star on my Wedding Night

Kat

October 15, 2009

Do you remember Anna & Ryan's Old Fashioned Love Affair wedding? Well, Mysi & Craig, the photographers of that soiree sent me their very own wedding - they got hitched a few weeks after! Mysi & Craig got married at a lodge in the middle of nowhere, near her parent's house in Illinois. They made a lot of the details - throwing themselves wholeheartedly into the DIY! They created their own programs to look like newspapers and got their invites printed onto handkerchiefs, the design of which was by the amazing etsy artist Heather Jenny.

Retrospective

Newlywed's Bianca & Sean got married in Cape Town (where they have now lived for 10 years) at a gorgeous restaurant called Pure at Hout Bay Manor. The wedding was based on a vintage/retrospective theme. The Bridesmaids all chose their own sleek black dresses and the boys wore skinny ties and sharp black suits. Bianca looked every bit the vintage princess in a custom made silver satin and lace wedding gown made by local couturier Cindy Bam and a vintage 1920s hat and veil.

Latin Lovers

Kat

October 9, 2009

Will & Aine had a Latin/ rock n roll wedding with gorgeous vintage touches in Santa Cruz. The term 'vintage' is thrown around a lot when it comes to weddings but looking at Aine's stunning...and I mean stunning...dress handmade by a friend and matching hairpiece, what other world could I use? The lace, the cameo, the cut...it's swoonworthy stuff! Will is a musician and plays in a Samba band so the day had a very Latin feel - from the bright colours (I adore orange and pink together!), the details and the music - it was a real eclectic mix of styles but it worked perfectly. Thanks so much to Gabrielle for sending me the exclusive first look at this stunning wedding. If you need more then go check out her blog and the slideshow! Credit: Gabrielle Fox Photography

WIN ♥ A Gorgeous One of a Kind Brooch from WristieLove

Kat

October 8, 2009

Let me introduce you to WristieLove, an online store selling beautiful organic, vintage or repurposed jewellery pieces that have that mix of intrigue and curious design down to a tee. Owner Sana describes her little shop as Your source for Wedding & Everyday Casual Pretty which perfectly sums up her ethos. This lass from California has always been put on edge by over-formality and she’s right you know, I wouldn’t limited these pieces to just your wedding day – in fact I wish I could wear one everyday! I think anyone can be well dressed and look 'pretty' if they OWN their style, casual or not. She told me I specialize in one of a kind accessories and metalwork. This includes etched copper tags, corsages, brooches and bags that feature curious and sometimes quirky design elements. All of my pieces are hand crafted incorporating organic, vintage (eco in its original form) or repurposed materials.

Country Garden

Kat

October 7, 2009

When reader Kate sent me a sneak peak of her wedding a few month's ago I knew it would be perfect Rock n Roll Bride material - especially after I laid eyes on her Candy Anthony dress! and Christian Louboutin shoes (a steal and brilliant find from Ebay!) As the the groom, Phil, hails from Wales the wedding had a distinctively Welsh theme and took place in Herefordshire on the Welsh border. The day was filled with personal quirky details and although the wedding may not have been as crazy or offbeat as the ones Kate had lusted after when planning her day, it certainly had the British 'cool' thing down. The reception took place at The Chase Hotel where the couple had a cheese cake (as in a cake made of actual cheese) made by Truffles Delicatessen,a personalised cake topper (dressed to match the couple's outfits) homemade welsh cakes baked by Kate and her great aunt. Thanks so much to Kate & Phil for sharing their gorgeous Welsh day with us....congratulations! Credit: Whole Picture
