Quirky Details & An Old Fashioned Knees Up

Kat

December 15, 2009

It's official. I am actually starting to finally believe that the UK is catching up to America in the style stakes. When this wedding winged it's way to me from the West Midlands (that's a bit up north for my American readers!) I knew straight away that sharing it would make me a very happy blogger indeed. Katie & Matt had a very personal and private wedding with on 25 of their closest friends and family at The Moat House in Staffordshire. It was a right old party full of music, booze (of course) and lots and lots of dancing! Katie looked quite the Rock n Roll princess in her Ian Stuart 'Mae' dress and her Benjamin Roberts shoes. Matt looked just as stylish in his suit by Reiss. What made this wedding even better and more personal was that a friend of the family did the flowers and Katie's sister's best friend made the cake. Love it! Thanks to Lee for sharing this fabulous wedding with us Rock n Rollers today!

Marylebone Lovers

Kat

December 14, 2009

Wooo more UK fabulousness people - this time with a kick ASS engagement shoot shot in Marylebone, London. For me, Emily & Callum epitomise London cool. Casual, funky, stylish and quirky - just the way I like it! Emily describes herself as a rock chick with a passion for vintage glamour, so I wanted to do something a bit different for them. We shot at night in a grungy car-park and the park next door, I still had to use a bench though! Thanks to Andy for sharing. Come on the UK!

Red Heels & Wheat Bouquets

Kat

December 13, 2009

I featured Mary's killer bridal session earlier this year - the aviators, gun and cigar really did it for me - so as always I've been eagerly awaiting for her wedding to Opie and I'm certainly not disappointed. I'm so exited that photographer Jenna wanted to share these with us: On her big day Mary not only rocked finger waves (vintage chic oh lala), a consignment shop wedding dress, a DIY wheat bouquet and red heels, but she and her beloved, Opie, had a wedding pie instead of wedding cake, saw each other before the ceremony (yay!), gave homemade truffles to their guests (and their photographer as well, which doubles their coolness factor in my book), and served hamburgers as their wedding dinner. Thanks to the every sweet, lovely and cool Jenna for sharing these today

An Extra Special, Stylish & Quirky British Wedding

Kat

December 11, 2009

The UK is seriously on fire this week and I've got another fantastic British wedding so share with you. However this one is extra extra special as Sally & Peter actually found their photographer, Kate, through Rock n Roll Bride! Woo to the Hoo! Kate talked all about Sally & Peter and their wonderfully eclectic day on her own blog: I am in actual love with Sally's purple shrug and woolen gloves. What a ridiculously stylish and wonderfully quirky couple. I love it all! Thanks to Kate for sharing this wedding and I am so happy that in a small way I was a part of it! Credit: Depict Photography

Rustic, Vintage, Romance

Kat

December 9, 2009

The second UK wedding of the day is Clare & Dean's classically beautiful rustic, vintagey romantic wedding. They employed the talents of my good friend Penny Merricks of Tigerlily Weddings to plan their day to perfection. Didn't she do a fabulous job? "I made all the invites that featured vintage lovebird stamps and 'to have and to hold' ribbon from Cox & Cox" Clare told me. "Also I handmade the luggage tags for place cards with same vintage bird stamps and ribbon. I asked friends and family to collect glass jam jars for months, and we covered them with lace and ribbon for tea-light holders. A designer friend of ours also made the booklet that contained the history of the barn, order of ceremony, pictures of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days, the menu and the last page contained a quiz about us both... also using the same vintage love bird stamps." Even though the couple wed in the UK, the bride bought her dress at David's Bridal in Dallas (hello exchange rate!) Her shrug was from Cornelia James and her shoes were Peto by Rainbow Couture. Clare's vintage style matching pearl and diamante necklace, bracelet and earrings by Dulcie Angel and her diamante hair clip instead of a tiara fwas rom Glitzy Secrets. Thanks to Penny, Julie, Clare & Dean for sharing this beautiful British wedding with us today.

Sweet Tooth

Kat

December 2, 2009

I actually featured newbie photographer Shannon McLaughlin's own wedding waaaay back in February - many of you may recognise her as Mrs Candy Corn from Wedding Bee. Well, like many of us recent brides, the thought of giving up all things wedding once she'd tied the knot was too much to bear so she decided to venture into wedding photography herself...and oh how pleased we are that she did! She has only had her professional camera for a little over a month and look how awesome she is already! The recently engaged Veronika & Bryan acted as models for this shoot. Veronika owns her own vintage shop called Sweet Tooth Vintage through the fabulous Etsy so she had lots of amazing outfits to wear. I am also loving the various props and locations used for this shoot - an environmental centre in Philadelphia, the couple's own home (including their insane number of pets!) and a cuuuute tandem bike! A Huge Rock n Roll thank you ro Shannon for sharing her work and this amazing couple. I am so excited to see more of her in future! ps go check out her blog - it's super duper cute! Vintage Vegas

Kat

December 2, 2009

A change of plans didn't seem to hinder Amanda & Jim's vintage Vegas photo shoot. They originally planned to have their shoot at the Neon Graveyard (where the old Vegas neon signs go to retire) but due to construction work they had to rethink their ideas. Instead they opted for a whistle-stop tour of the city, stopping at many of the historic, iconic and hilarious (silly sunglasses stand!) sites to take some snaps. Thanks to Kristen for sharing Credit: Kristen Joy Photography

Cowboys & Indians

December 1, 2009

I'm pretty sure none of the adjectives flying around my head as I look at these images can do justice to this ridiculously, spectacularly, awesomely, fantastically, edgy and wicked shoot! Alma & David got married in New Orleans and had a cowboys & indians style wedding! The pair actually acted as models in a workshop for 25 photographers who want to learn new techniques and to photograph a couple as cool as they are. I'm sooo excited that photographer Belen sent her shots to me to feature - thanks so much chick! Credit: Gerber + Scarpelli Weddings

Old Hollywood, Mexican Punk Rock!

Kat

November 30, 2009

Summer & Christopher's wedding took place in July in a cemetery/mausoleum where the bride's mother works at their beautiful 1920's era chapel - certainly made for some awesome shots huh!? Summer told me: "It didn't bother us that the chapel had a mausoleum inside of it. It's not that we were being purposely macabre, but we both have an understanding of the cycle of life, and felt that it would be beautiful, appropriate, and romantic, to have our wedding in a place which encompassed beauty and history. It was also a nice tribute to my mom, who brought me up with the understanding that death is just another part of life"

November 29, 2009

We love Axioo at Rock n Roll Bride HQ...and apparently so do you. You've gone nuts over their darling and sweet videos and innovative and adorable photo shoots. I can't say I blame you, not with prettiness like this on show...and the giant Chanel bag pictures are almost too much to bear! The guys are traveling around the world over the next few months so be sure to get in touch if you want to be captured by them. You can see where they are going and when on their blog. Thanks David and the team for sharing as always! Credit: Axioo

Indie Rock

Kat

November 23, 2009

Hello again you gorgeous creatures, I hope you didn't miss me too much this weekend (although I was pretty rubbish at staying away - my phone kept me up to date quite nicely with Twitter and Facebook!) I'm starting this week off with a bang, firstly with the adorably indie Leanne & Nate and their beyond perfect engagement session. Photographer Noa has really been making waves in blog land over the last few months and as always it is my absolute pleasure to share this session that she sent me. As always thanks Noa. You rock my world! People, hold on to your knickers and pop back here in a few hours to find out your three finalists for the Erica Berger Trash the Dress contest. In the words of Dermot O'Leary "They'll need your votes!" (I understand that only makes sense if you're in the UK but oh well!) Credit: FeatherLove Photography

Glamorous Art Deco

Kat

November 20, 2009

Jill & Andrew knew they wanted an Art Deco style wedding as soon as they got engaged. Jill in particular really looked the part in her Priscilla of Boston dress, gorgeous custom birdcage veil from Unveiled Bridal Designs, stunning necklace by Ranjana Khan and customised J Crew shoes. Jill told me all about their day: Andrew and I both love the Art Deco period of art, fashion and music. From the first moment he proposed with an estate amethyst rose gold ring from the 1940s (Louisiana), we knew our wedding would be vintage inspired. We love black and ivory and used these colors to create our classic wedding story. Peacock feathers, swing music, and birdcage veils for the belles of the bride all set the stage for our soiree. We fell in love with Savannah because of the ornate iron work, stunning mansions, Southern & European charm and historic standing. Savannah itself represents both of our roots, myself being from Georgia, and Andrew from England. The Mansion provided the perfect backdrop. Both being foodies, we chose tiers of artisan cheese to create our wedding cake from Murray's in New York City.
