Sarah & Aaron’s Rustic Vintage Wedding

Sarah & Aaron were married at the bride's Grandparent's farm in Lake Ariel, PA. "Our wedding could not have been done as well as it was without the selfless help of our family and friends," the bride told me. "People were always volunteering their time to help us out in any way they could. And in that way our wedding day was not just about me and Aaron, but a celebration of our friends and family as well. Our community not only came around us in support of our marriage the day of the wedding, but were also a big part in making it the beautiful day that it was!" Their rustic vintage theme was set by the venue, but continued with the DIY elements the couple put into their day like the fabric garlands and tin can lanterns. "We didn't want one of those cookie cutter weddings that you go to a store to pick out and purchase every little thing. No printed napkins, no machined decorations--we wanted a hand and a heart to create our wedding instead, " Sarah continued.

A Temperley dress, a skull handbag and a groom in Vivienne Westwood? Oh yeah, this is my kind of wedding! Claire & Joe's wedding was held at Rhinefield House Hotel in the New Forest and was beautifully captured by photographer Lisa Devlin. Quite frankly this wedding is made for these pages, and so I'm more than a little bit thrilled to share it with you today. "We knew we didn’t want to look like every other bride and groom and wanted to be ourselves," the bride told me. "We took our inspiration from the 1930’s and although it wasn’t a theme it had a definite feel. One of the most important things for me as a make up artist was how to wear my make up which I did myself on the day. I love a strong rock n roll lip so I went for a dark 30s look using MAC Current lip liner all over with MAC Ruby Woo lipstick on top."

The theme for Darren & Naomi's romantic wedding was Vintage Circus. "We wanted a day packed full of fun, totally relaxed and whenever anyone thought back on it they would smile," the groom told me. "The theme was a total surprise for all 200+ that were invited, with the first clue being as we walked down the aisle together as man and wife, and Entry of the Gladiators (the traditional circus theme tune!) was played by the organist."

Katie & Michael glamorous 1920's wedding was held at East Close in the New Forest. The couple knew it was the venue for them as soon as they saw it - they didn't even look elsewhere! Katie's beautiful vintage dress came from Fur Coat No Knickers and she wore it with a marabou feather shrug from Queens and Bowl. The groom looked just as dapper with his bespoke King and Allen suit. Michael even sourced his own vintage buttons for his outfit from Button Queen and a haberdashers in Brighton. His vintage pocket watch was a gift from Katie.

Mark and Maryanne had their garden tea party wedding in Maryanne's parents house in West Chiltington.The vintage vibe of the day with carried throughout with DIY, classic vintage and country garden ideas. The bride's dress which was original vintage from The Vintage Wedding Dress Company. "I found a beautiful 1950's dress that I had customised" the bride explained. "It originally came with a lace cape, but my fab seamstress turned the cape into sleeves and added a bit of sparkle with some old glass buttons that I found from a little junk shop in Sussex." With this she wore Emmy Shoes, a customised vintage veil (made from a 1940's hat) jewellery made from original vintage piece and bag from the 1950's.

Tory & Joel’s Two-Day Vintage & Rock n Roll Wedding

Tory & Joel's two-day wedding makes my heart sing. These two totally different days worked so brilliantly for the couple. Both had a vintage and Rock n Roll vibe and I'm utterly thrilled to share them both with you today. The couple were married at Marylebone Town Hall, London in an intimate ceremony on Friday 27th May. Tory wore a vintage dress by Armstrong Vintage and Joel wore a suit from Next . The couple chose not to have their reception directly after as they were dreaming of eloping, and having the ceremony separate to the reception party gave them this feeling without upsetting their family and friends! "Part of us wanted to run away together and have a romantic eloping story to re-tell but in reality we both wanted our parents and siblings there at the ceremony," the bride told me. "It turned out to be exactly what we wanted: incredibly romantic, very intimate and with our nearest and dearest there to squeeze our hands when things got a bit emotional." The reception was held on the 29th at West End Farm, Bedfordshire and certainly had the Rock n Roll vibe. The bride wore a second vintage dress from Love Miss Daisy and the event was a detail-perfect party for all their friends and family.

Lori & Tom’s Casual n Cool Vegas Wedding

Lori & Tom were married in Las Vegas in a casual and laid back wedding. They kept their day simple and significant to them, as Lori explains, “We live in London and met at Coachella music festival in 2007. We wanted intimate (we were thinking 35 people, we ended up with 54!) and casual, a bit different and more of a party than a wedding. No ice sculptures, receiving lines, or head tables. We just wanted to have a big party with our family and close friends. My family live in Vancouver and Tom’s family in England, so we decided that if guests were going to travel, then why not make it a big holiday in Vegas? And to top it all off, in meant we could go to Coachella with our closest friends before the wedding — bringing everything full circle.”

You may have seen Andrew's own wedding around blog-land as it was photographed by the awesome Emma Case. Inspired by his own wedding experience, Andrew wanted to try his hand at wedding photography himself...and can I be so bold as to say, for a first attempt he pretty much nailed it! One to watch? I think so! He explained, "Meeting Emma had a huge impact on me. I've always felt quite a creative person and used to be able to channel that through music and film making. That just seemed to fizzle out through my mid twenties and left a massive void in my life. I never took time to fill it. When I met Emma she inspired me to pick up my camera and find a totally new passion. I've not looked back. I am so grateful to her and we still keep in regular contact. I find weddings and couples the most amazing thing to photograph as there is nothing but love and positivity in every frame. I am completely engulfed now and have taken the leap of faith to see if I can follow my own photography path."

Raven wanted some carnival themed bridal portraits and so she asked William of Famous William Company to shoot them for her. "She had a blast and was all smiles even though the weather was blazing hot that day," William told me. "The carnival was located outside of Atlanta, Georgia. She wore a 1950's vintage wedding dress and for her something blue for the photos she had blue converse trainers."

Solvig & Diego’s Miami Rooftop Portraits

Solvig & Diego were married on the rooftop of the modern 500 Brickell building in downtown Miami. They had a very low key wedding but their friend and photographer Amanda was there to capture these beautiful portraits of them just after the ceremony. Their 1950's look was inspired by their favourite movie, The Notebook, and the modern and urban location provided an interesting contrast to their vintage styling.

This morning's shoot was set up by photographers We Heart Pictures to showcase the types of brides they want to shoot. "Hector and I fly to Jersey often for client meetings as we shoot weddings in the Channel Islands," photographer Charlie told me. "I took the opportunity to make the most of our trip and the stunning location and heckled people into getting up at 8am on Easter Sunday to join us in St Catherine’s Woods. We wanted it to be fun so packed a picnic, chandelier, flags, bunting, balloons, bubbles, masks, several meters of fabric and threw in a couple of wedding dresses as you do!"

Isobel & Dave's incredible vintage-inspired budget wedding gives me butterflies! I am so excited about sharing all the beautiful personal touches that they put into their day. The whole wedding is a testament to the fact that you don't need to spend a fortune to have your perfect wedding. "The two things we had in our heads from the start were; that we didn't have a very big budget and that we wanted our wedding to reflect us," Isobel told me. "We started by approaching it as a really big party where we’d just happen to get married. The important things for us were that our favourite people were there, our favourite music was playing, and everyone would have fun! We aren’t particularly conventional and there was never any question of following rules or doing things because we ‘should’. I didn't buy a single bridal magazine or visit any bridal shops during the whole process! Rock n Roll Bride and DIY Bride were my only ‘go to’ blogs for inspiration and ideas! We just did things because we wanted to (if we could afford it)! With the little touches – the badges, the teapots as vases, teacups full of sweets, the birdcage for cards and messages, the photo booth (definitely a Rock n Roll Bride idea-steal!), and the bunting – I think we created a wedding that was fun, unique, and best of all, exactly what we’d imagined."

Shelby & Bliss wanted their engagement shoot to take place in a tattoo parlour because Bliss is tattoo mad! "The inspiration for the shoot came mostly from Bliss's amazing tattoos," Shelby told me. "The tattoo parlor we shot in is where he gets his tattoo's done. When I was in there with him we thought how cool it would be to do our engagment session in the parlor. We love the "Sailor Jerry" feel of the shop and decided to capture that between the two of us. Our photographer Jeremiah did an amazing job capturing it all! We love him and we love the pictures!"

This shoot was set up to promote some of their latest vintage wedding dresses. "We take a different approach to weddings," shop owner Lisa told me. "You won’t find any champagne flutes, harassed shop assistants or queues for the changing room here. Instead, we’ll help you get the dress you really want, either by customising one of our unique vintage pieces, or creating it for you from scratch. Following on from yesterday's beautiful shoot from Lara Jade, I wanted to share some more mouth-watering Spring inspiration, this time from photographer Yuna Leonard. This shoot was set up by Yuma to show some of the aspects of Spring that inspire her and her photography, "I am so fascinated with cherry blossom, candy, all the pretty flowers, the Spring smell… a vintage dress + western boots + candy looking balloons is my favorite spring combination!" she wrote.

That 70’s Show – A Retro Flower-Child Bridal Shoot

The 1970's are well and truly BACK. I don't know about you but I'm seeing the styling of this decade everywhere at the moment - from the rails of the high street to the lookbooks of the high end. Even kitsch 70's décor is back in vogue (apparently...not sure about the whole avocado bathroom thing making a comeback ...) So needless to say, I didn't expect it to be long until someone brought this iconic styling into a bridal shoot. Photographer Catherine of Lily & Frank Photography and florist Steph from Fairy Nuff Flowers worked together to bring this concept together. They set out their goals from the outset as they were keen to make this shoot stand out from the crowd. They wanted the flowers to take centre stage to the styling, to echo the 'flower-child' movement of the 70's I'd suppose, so they make a conscious decision not to use any jewellery or hair accessories on the models. They were also very keen to make it a retro style, rather than the oh-s0-popular vintage styling of the moment - therefore bold pops of colour and strong statement pieces moved to the forefront. Finally, an obvious British feel was imperative as was a vibe of laid-back, fun and alternative-ness.

I put a little teaser shot from Sarah & Justin's beautiful wedding on my facebook fan page a few weeks ago, and within about 3 minutes it had received about 40 'likes' which pretty much convinced me (like I didn't know already) that you guys are going to totally heart this one. The elegant New York wedding took place at Bridgewaters Restaurant, New York. The theme for the wedding was an evolving one, and one that really reflected what the bride & groom loved in their daily lives, as well as being complementary to the scenery around them.

So the big day is tomorrow. As I've said previously, I'm not doing a huge homage to the royal wedding on the blog (there's enough royal wedding fever elsewhere thank you very much!) however this shoot, inspired by the event, really caught my eye this week. I love it for it's slight sex pistols/1970's punk edge.Cool Britannia indeed! The shoot took place in Regent's Park, London last week. Bride Noelle hand made her vintage-inspired floaty dress. "We decided to do this cherish the dress shoot with a Great British theme, just in time to celebrate the royal wedding," photographer Rebecca told me. "We also tied in a fairytale them as the royal wedding is set to be a true British fairytale. Noelle also brought along her pet Pug percy for the shoot, who was just adorable and loved rolling around on the British flag."
