October 16, 2013

Tim and Scarlett were married on 8th August, their five year anniversary. They had a church ceremony followed by a tea party reception in the gardens of Baxby Manor, a gorgeous 705 year old Manor house. "We knew that we wanted somewhere beautiful, and Baxby ticked all the boxes", Scarlett began. "It even came with a glamping site down the lane for all our guests to stay over! Baxby isn't a wedding venue, just a luxury holiday letting, but the owners were amazing and let us create a beautiful day there, as if it were our own house."

October 14, 2013

Cassandra and Howard were married at The Roost in Dalston, London, a photographic studio and shooting location. Because it wasn't a traditional wedding venue it meant their whole day was really chilled out and non-traditional, but also that they could completely plan it the way they wanted. "We’d had a really small and intimate wedding ceremony in Cornwall with just our immediate families so we wanted to throw a vintage wedding tea party for friends and relatives here in London", began the bride. "The Roost was an amazing find. It's a former Victorian pub in deepest, darkest Dalston converted into a four floor photographic and film shoot location. My heart skipped a beat the first time we viewed it. It was perfect. I just loved the eclectic vintage vibe and ‘out there’ style of the place. From the gorgeous House Of Hackney wallpapers, to the giant props, old film posters and quirky paintings on the wall. We were just blown away."

Salvador Dali Inspired Surrealist Wedding: Demi & Steven

September 17, 2013

Between them, Demi and Steven have degrees is art history, psychology and education so they wanted their wedding to reflect these passions. Initially they thought about having a pop art inspired day as the bride loves Andy Warhol but they then decided they actually wanted something slightly vintage and with an old Hollywood feel. "It seemed only natural that we have a surrealist inspired wedding as we are fascinated by the subconscious and bizarre", wrote Demi. "Surrealism is about desire, frenzy, and unconscious drives. This seemed very appropriate to our relationship. I also like the irony of the intense misogyny of surrealism mingled with the fact that a woman planned everything."

Roxy and Daniel's ceremony took place in Daniel's parents' neighbourhood, Bourland Field Estates, in Cresson, TX. It also just happens to be an airport neighbourhood! The streets are runways and everyone has massive garages to house their planes. The couple chose yellow as the main colour in their wedding so what could have been more perfect than a brilliant yellow plane that was lent by their neighbour for the photos!?

September 6, 2013

Ellie and Ed wanted their June wedding to not only reflect them - their likes and loves - but to be a fun day for everyone, full of DIY details. The day started with an emotional ceremony at Aldenham School, Elstree and the reception was in tipis on Buckettsland Farm, Well End. "We said the whole way through the planning process that we didn't have a theme but looking back it was essentially junk and glitter", began the bride. "If you ever saw our flat, you would know that we’re not matchy-matchy people in the slightest. I love tack and have a big collection of oddities, plus I have an obsession with the stars and the moon and anything glittery, so I always knew they would end up making an appearance."

September 5, 2013

Garrett and Joelle's June wedding was held at Epikos Church and Turner Hall Ballroom in Milwaukee. The day had a vintage and steampunk theme and was full of emotional and special moments. "Garrett wrote me a really special note and a poem that I read in the morning. I love that we got photos of that moment because it was really emotional", Joelle wrote. "One of my favorite moments though was when we prayed together before the wedding and held hands on either side of a door. That was a really amazing moment and reminded us of why we were getting married in the first place."

I'm a little bit sad that September means it's nearly the end of Summer - waaah! I'm definitely not ready for it to be over just yet. Insane Italian Vintage Circus Wedding: Michelangelo & Francilla

Maison Pestea

September 3, 2013

Unlike so many Italian weddings that they'd been to before, Michelangelo and Francilla wanted a day that was big, ridiculous and most of all fun! They went for a vintage circus theme, and oh boy, they really did go all out on the theme! Francilla told me all about it, "In Italy it’s quite impossible to have a different wedding and not do everything traditionally. It’s so hard to get away from the 'rules' that everyone says you have to obey, but we worked hard to make sure we did! We would have never been happy to marry in this way, and luckily our families knew it!"

September 2, 2013

Amy and Steve got engaged while on a road trip around America and so an American themed wedding seemed like the most perfect option for them! These guys didn't go for a subtle homage though, they went all out! "Our wedding was a little slice of American pie", Amy began. "We got engaged two years ago on a road trip around the southern states of America. Steve got down on one knee over a BBQ of ribs and beer in the mountains of Virginia. It was the perfect setting and was amongst many aspects of that trip that made it one of our most memorable journeys together."

Mid-Century Tabernacle Wedding: Fiona & David

August 30, 2013

Fiona and David's Kent wedding was influenced by the style of the 1940s through to the 1960s. "I think the whole day was defined by it really being a reflection of us as a couple", Fiona said. "We really didn't want an identikit, faceless, corporate feel. Also, we wanted it to be as relaxed as possible. We didn't want anyone to stand on ceremony or feel uncomfortable. We just wanted all the people closest to us there and to eat, drink, dance and have a lot of fun."
