Lacey-Lee channelled Priscilla Presley for her bridal look. Her dress was an original vintage number which she had reworked to the exact style she wanted. I utterly adore Ruth & Oliver's beautiful orchard wedding! In fact as soon as photographer Abbye told me about the details I knew I'd be loving it. "When I first met up with Ruth to talk about her wedding she brought along a huge glass jam jar. Jessica & Karl got married in the city of Stockholm, Sweden, in the Södermalm region to be precise, which is apparently one of the coolest urban areas of the country. The wedding had a distinctly blue theme which perfectly reflected the countries nature. "Blue is as Swedish as it gets with it being the dominant colour in the flag" photographers Cole & Jakob told me "and a lot of that has to do with the importance of the ocean to the countries culture. Even the archipelago that Stockholm is built amongst is surrounded by the blue of the sea, and that colour was an underlying theme through the planing of this wedding." Jessica wore a dress by Design by Marja Collection with a beautiful handmade hairpiece by Percy Handmade and a flawless hair net made by Tied and Feathered. I have quite literally died and gone to vintage wedding heaven. This is one of those shoots, that as soon as I saw just one little sneak peak, I emailed the photographer right. that. second to demand to be able to feature them! The ever lovely Lisa of Ophelia Photography was of course more than willing to allow me to have my way with these, and boy am I excited to share. All you lovers of vintage fare are going to go just gaga. Perched on top of stone angel in a Vintage Wedding Gown and a crown of baby pink flowers, Corrie is slipping, almost falling. But that doesn’t compromise her poise; she tries a funny face (very Audrey Hepburn)surprise and a cool couture profile as she lengthens her leg just so. I hold my breath and click my camera following her lead, she is pure magic. When I purchased a Vintage Wedding Gown from GT Antiquesin Port Alberni BC, a few months ago I was instantly overwhelmed with visions of ethereal, romantic, and beautiful images. I conceptualized a beautiful young women who belonged in another world, from a distant time. I knew that the gown would fit perfectly on one of my favourite muses Miss Corrie Flint. Corrie is the type of model that truly evokes a character, and she is not afraid to “go there” and take risks. It is always such an amazing experience to photograph her. I've featured Indian weddings before, mainly because I am crazy-obsessed with bright colours and who does it better?! However with this wedding I am infatuated with a different side - the personal touches, the uncomplicated feeling and the desaturated colours used to photograph all that beautiful henna. I know I say this a lot but eeek I am so excited to share Vince & Amanda's wedding. I have been lusting over it ever since Lisa of Ophelia Photography showed me a sneaky peak and the full wedding certainly lives up to my hype! The candy coloured wedding took place at Minoru Chapel and UBC Boathouse in Vancouver and Amanda's dress was handmade by her Mother - how rad is that!? Lisa you rock my flipping world girl. As photographers, Emmy & Aaron are more comfortable being behind the camera then in front, but for their one year anniversary (this week!) they decided they deserved some gorgeous photographs of their own! Emmy told me the whole story: When we took a little anniversary trip to a cabin on Cowichan Lake (Vancouver Island BC Canada) I pulled my dress, by Demetrios, out of the closet and took it with us. We had a great little cabin on the beach and there were some other perfectly decayed old buildings on the property including this great lime green shed. The owner expressed some concern that we were making photos in front of "the biggest eyesore on the property". I think that old shed is perfect!. We met over a conversation about our shared love of photography. Pretty soon we also loved each other and now we love making photographs together. We can't believe how lucky we are that we found each other and that we both have the same passion. I don't let him shoot me that often - I like being behind the camera as much as he does - but putting that dress on tends to let you become somebody else for a while. Doesn't hurt that its my hot hubby behind the camera! Everyone should do this on their anniversary – let those dresses out of the closet girls you look fabulous in them and they want to be seen! Glamour. Pure unadulterated glamour. From the gorgeous Bride and her girls all in their stunning custom made hairpieces from Heather Mandin to the Groom and his boys arriving at Grouse Mountain (the Peak of Vancouver) in a helicopter, the whole day just screams magnificence! It goes without saying that the locations is spectacular, but it's the ridiculous fun they look like they had that does it for me.
