Charlie and Mark had a pretty unconventional, NSFW engagement shoot (which is actually one of my favourites we've ever published!) so, unsurprisingly, their September wedding shunned tradition too. They decided that they wanted a bohemian inspired by with elements of Peaky Blinders and Wes Anderson. They did lots of DIY projects to make their day feel really special and personal. In particular they arranged all the flowers and created all the paper goods (invites, table plan, order of the day etc).

Karen and Dean were married in the ruins of Ettington Park's chapel in October. Their day had a gothic theme which was reflected in the bride's choice of black wedding dress (made by The Couture Company), their Black Cherry Cake Company cake and all the decorations. They used skeletons, trailing ivy, dramatic candelabras with black candles and purple and black flowers.

They met at an alternative bar in Camden, "Not the most romantic setting. Samantha and Mike were married in August and they had a few different priorities. They wanted to ensure that they didn't overspend (they rigidly stuck to their £11,000 budget), and they wanted the day to feel like them. They were hitched at Southwick D-Day Memorial Hall, which isn't a licensed wedding venue (so they did the legal bit a few days before) meaning they had a lot of freedom to do what they wanted on the day itself and it only cost them £750 to hire it for the whole weekend!

Robyn and Ash were legally married in Vegas at the Chapel of the Flowers but they wanted to host a big party when they got back to Yorkshire for all their family and friends. The party had a really low key, retro and kitsch vibe, hosted at their local community centre. The flowers came from a local flower market, the cakes were from various supermarkets and the stationery was made by the bride. Instead of a fancy meal they served wood-fired pizza and the night ended with - who else? - an Elvis impersonator!

For their winter wedding, Trixie and Sam were inspired by the resident pigs at their venue, South Farm in Cambridgeshire. As soon as they found out about them they decided that they had to incorporate them into the theme of the day. All the tables were named after different species with their own facts on the table markers. They added a tattoo/ rockabilly element with their choice of cake, place settings and the temporary tattoo station which was a huge hit with the guests.

Like many couples, Angela and Robin didn’t really have a theme in mind for their wedding - until they stepped back and realised what they had created once all their different elements came together!
