Sleepy Hollow(een) Wedding

Kat

November 6, 2009

I don't get to feature enough gothic style weddings so when Carmel & Drynn's rustic yet opulent gothic affair landed on my desk I jumped at the chance to share these. The Bride told me... I found my dress at Gothic Wedding Dresses and our flowers were done by Punch Portland. The inspiration for our theme was based on Tim Burton-esque Sleepy Hollow, classic Victorian but with a dark feel. We are kind of "darker" individuals so we wanted that reflected but wanted to do it in a classy tasteful way. We didn't want to scare our guests too much! We picked Drynn's hat up at a vintage store the feather piece & my headpieces were done by Cricket Quills. Thanks to Carmel & Drynn for sharing their day with us

Perfectly Sweet

Kat

November 4, 2009

Carnival weddings always make me smile. Jenna & Tommy's wedding is no different. I thought I'd share another wedding with you that I did this summer. The bride's last name was Morrissey which made me instantly think of The Smiths (one of my most favorite bands ever). Jenna and Tommy were married in Providence, RI in Roger Williams Park. Their inspiration was that of a 1950's carnival complete with carousel, penny candy and popcorn. The bride stole away during the reception to change into a pink vintage dress to surprise her new husband. Their first dance? "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" by The Smiths. Perfectly sweet. Thanks to Olivia for sharing this and making me smile (again - she shoot the Married by a Moose wedding!)

Remember Keith & Rachel's screamingly (yes I did just make that word up) awesome engagement session? well oh oh oh here comes the wedding! Yeeeeey...baby I love them - the dress, the tattoos, the succulents, the lanterns, the location (they got married under the same tree that they had their engagement shoot at), the cupcakes and the simple and beautiful yellow flower in her hair. Yes, I think I'm pretty much crazy about these! Thanks to the ever delightful Corin for sending these over and to Keith & Rachel for being just way too cool Credit: Corin Jones Photography

I'm sure many of you have been waiting with baited breath to see these - hell, I know I have been dying to get these out! It's worth the wait though I assure you. Carly & James tied the knot at a winery in Sanger, CA. Her dress was an authentic vintage tutu style dress and feathery veil and James didn't even want to shave on the day - he rocked it though right!? So without further ado...prepare to be blown away by greatness. A Rock n Roll Bride classic if ever I've seen one. Again, thanks to Dani for sharing these...I feel so lucky to be the blog to bring them to you!

I have been lusting over it ever since Lisa of Ophelia Photography showed me a sneaky peak and the full wedding certainly lives up to my hype! The candy coloured wedding took place at Minoru Chapel and UBC Boathouse in Vancouver and Amanda's dress was handmade by her Mother - how rad is that!? Lisa you rock my flipping world girl. Surprise! We’re Getting Married…Right Now!

Kat

October 13, 2009

As many of you will be more than aware, I am a ridiculously massive fan on Noa of Feather Love Photography and so it would seem is the whole of blog land! I have seen her photographs being featured all over the shop which makes me even more grateful that she still wants little me to feature her work. Meegan & Jean-Loius held their engagement party at their parents house..or what the 150 guests thought was an engagement party! The couple had other sneaky plans and half way through the evening, went and get changed into their full wedding gear to surprise their gathered family and friends with a wedding! How ACE is that?! Meghan didn't even tell her best friends who she surprised by saying "Oh hey by the way we're getting married right now...and you are my bridesmaids!" Go check out the rest of these photos on Noa's blog like now! Noa - I'm blown away as ever... Credit: Feather Love Photography

A Blue-tiful Mess

Kat

October 10, 2009

As soon as I laid eyes on this beautiful bride in her STUNNING blue dress I knew I had to share and after speaking to Chloe herself and getting all the hot gossip and details from the day, well I couldn't resist but to post these immediately. Take it away Chloe... We got married at Junior Ranks Mess on the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and didn't actually have a theme - I am far too eclectic to pick a just one and definitely even less likely to find one my hubby would have agreed with! I basically chose everything I liked and knew it wouldn't match but it would make sense to everyone who knew Kevin & I, because we are both such open and free people. We chose blue as a color but did not limit it to any particular shade or tone, and the result was a beautiful mess of all colors of blue imaginable - it was a huge hit with the wedding party and guests and took so much stress out of planning (who wants to have to order swatches?) Decor was came to under $100 - I hand folded 200 tissue pompoms to hang, hand folded 300 paper cherry blossoms for bouquets, centrepieces and ceremony decor and Kevin hung 300 blue and white balloons. Even the candles and vases were dollar store and I don't have any leftover because people went crazy for them and brought them all home! We did everything possible it seems to drive my traditional in laws crazy - we asked for money instead of gifts, we served hor d'hoeuves instead of a dinner, I had a bridesman, I designed a dress to showcase my ink when my father in law suggested I get a turtleneck gown to hide them (seriously!) Oh, and Kevin insisted on rocking the ceremony and marched in there to Sweet Child O Mine by VitaminStringQuartet, and we rocked right out of there to Dance,Dance by VitaminStringQuartet. I tried on traditional gowns but looked like I was playing dress up, so in the end I ordered my dream dress - I saw it on Project Runway season 1 years back and said "that will be my dress" (the white dress). I found a great seamstress on etsy AtelierTami in Greece, who made it for $120! It was exactly what I wanted - plain. I have enough skin decoration and planned on accessorizing on top of that! I got my blue, reception dress from Sarah Seven also on etsy. I had a beautiful birdcage veil made by another etsy artisan, 5eizen and got my shoes from Betsey Johnson (Vixen) but I added the shoe ruffles myself which I made. and Kevin bought his outfit at a skateboarding shop for under $100. My bridesmaids/men chose their own outfits, I told them blue and white and something you will wear again. I wanted them to look like themselves, since I chose them because I love them as they are. I want to give a shout out to all these amazing etsy sellers that I used: White Gown by AtelierTami Blue, reception dress by Sarah Seven Birdcage Veil by 5eizen Gloves by Creonodo Shrug by LolaShowGirl Bouquet by YandeBridal Corsages, Boutonnieres and pompoms by CocoCupcakes Earrings by SweetLobe Thanks to the lovely Chloe & Kevin for sharing their blue-tiful (!) day with us! Cuteness Indeed

Kat

October 4, 2009

I seem to be getting sent a lot of cuuute engagement sessions recently and this submission from Ashley & Stephanie of the gorgeously named White Rabbit Studios is no different. Amy & Randall had this fun and offbeat session in North Alabama with their friends and photographers (having photographer friends really is the best!) and I think they turned out great. The two are very unique and Amy brought a slew of props to play with during the session. We swooned as Randall serenaded the woman he loves, and giggled as they kissed in between their sips on wine. Thanks to all involved for sharing these with us. Simply stunning! Credit: White Rabbit Studios

Comic Book Lovers

Andie & Dave are just wicked! As photographer Channing Johnson told me, "the groom being a musician and having a lot of past and present band-member guests make them a very rock n roll couple! They also looked fab with their tattoos and bangs." Good enough for me! The couple, who met whilst both working at Newbury Street Comics, Boston, went back to the very street to reminisce and get these beautiful shots. Next up - the wedding! Thanks Channing Credit: Channing Johnson Photography
