Old Hollywood, Mexican Punk Rock!

Kat

November 30, 2009

Summer & Christopher's wedding took place in July in a cemetery/mausoleum where the bride's mother works at their beautiful 1920's era chapel - certainly made for some awesome shots huh!? Summer told me: "It didn't bother us that the chapel had a mausoleum inside of it. It's not that we were being purposely macabre, but we both have an understanding of the cycle of life, and felt that it would be beautiful, appropriate, and romantic, to have our wedding in a place which encompassed beauty and history. It was also a nice tribute to my mom, who brought me up with the understanding that death is just another part of life"

A Match Made in Rock n Roll Heaven

Kat

November 24, 2009

When one of my favourite photographers, Matt Miller, joined on of my favourite photographic teams, Our Labor of Love, I just knew it'd be a match made in heaven - even more so now because they only went and shot his wedding! Matt and his new wife Danielle are the epitomization of what Rock n Roll Bride stands for - kick ass, rock n roll and individuality in weddings! I am so excited to share their wedding and bring you the full report on the day soon but to whet your appetite, I couldn't resist a little preview in the form of their Smilebooth. Oh yeah baby this is gonna be gooooooooood! Thanks to Jessie & Whitney and Matt & Danielle for sharing! Credit: Our Labor of Love

Off the Hook Carnival Eye Candy

Kat

November 17, 2009

I knew Amy & Jesse's wedding would be off-the-hook with it's intense awesomeness as soon as I saw and blogged their engagements a while back. Surely a couple this offbeat and rockin' couldn't have anything but a super crazy, kooky, inspirational and incredible wedding day could they? However, even I was blown off my chair when I laid eyes on these little beauties. Their DIY, carnival wedding was not only ridiculously creative and awe-inspiring but the couple themselves literally looked like a candy covered explosion of kick ass attitude and fun all over! (By the way I fully realise that my explanation of my thoughts on this wedding probably make little or no grammatical and linguistical sense - however my intense excitement over getting to blog these appears to have rendered by logical brain dysfunctional!) Got it? Right...on with the show... A HUGE Rock n Roll thank you to Marina of Red Heart Photography for sending these over. I couldn't wait to blog these (as always) and so the photos below are actually only part 1 & 2 of her posts. Go check out her blog over the next few weeks for even more eye candy!

Little Black Number

Kat

November 15, 2009

This bride actually bought a prom dress to wear on her big day as she wanted a little black number! It fitted in perfectly with their venue (an estate) and it's beautiful and old demeanor - it was full of antiques which suited the couple and their style perfectly. The reception was outside held and decorated with butterflies and moss which certainly made for the perfect backdrop for photographs. With an English family who love football (soccer!) they had to get a game in there. The bride even bought wellies - black and pink of course - to play along in the rain too. Photographer Ingrid paid special attention to photographing this special part of the day. Thanks to Ingrid for sharing these with us today

Autumn Leaves

Kat

November 11, 2009

Oh yes, yet another autumn/fall/Halloween wedding for you lucky lucky people, but this one couldn't be further away in style from the last. Darby & Eric got married at Heritage Park in Dana Point California on October 3rd 2009 and the reception followed at Darby's Parents home nearby with just some of their closest friends and family. A super personal, uber stylish affair the couple really went all out to make it their own. I am absolutely loving the autumn leaf bouquets and subtle Halloween theming around the event - not OTT, not crazy, just them. Oh and I had to mention the bride and bridesmaid's dresses too... swwaaaahhhoooon! Thanks to Molly & Matt for the exclusive. Love love lurrrve

Electic & Colourful

Kat

November 9, 2009

You lucky lucky things, I have yet another post of wonderfulness from Vanessa of Wildberry Design & Studio - the wedding to accompany the amazing Pin Up. Tattooed. Awesomes engagement shoot. Although this wedding has undeniable classic and traditional elements, it's the personal and Rock n Roll touches that 'make' it. They give the wedding the twist it needs to make me fall in love with it - and them! Plus it may well have the most electic and colourful gaggle of guests I've ever seen. Love them! Again, thanks to Vanessa for sharing Credit: Wildberry Design & Studio

Sleepy Hollow(een) Wedding

Kat

November 6, 2009

I don't get to feature enough gothic style weddings so when Carmel & Drynn's rustic yet opulent gothic affair landed on my desk I jumped at the chance to share these. The Bride told me... I found my dress at Gothic Wedding Dresses and our flowers were done by Punch Portland. The inspiration for our theme was based on Tim Burton-esque Sleepy Hollow, classic Victorian but with a dark feel. We are kind of "darker" individuals so we wanted that reflected but wanted to do it in a classy tasteful way. We didn't want to scare our guests too much! We picked Drynn's hat up at a vintage store the feather piece & my headpieces were done by Cricket Quills. Thanks to Carmel & Drynn for sharing their day with us

Perfectly Sweet

Kat

November 4, 2009

Carnival weddings always make me smile. Jenna & Tommy's wedding is no different. I thought I'd share another wedding with you that I did this summer. The bride's last name was Morrissey which made me instantly think of The Smiths (one of my most favorite bands ever). Jenna and Tommy were married in Providence, RI in Roger Williams Park. Their inspiration was that of a 1950's carnival complete with carousel, penny candy and popcorn. The bride stole away during the reception to change into a pink vintage dress to surprise her new husband. Their first dance? "There is a Light That Never Goes Out" by The Smiths. Perfectly sweet. Thanks to Olivia for sharing this and making me smile (again - she shoot the Married by a Moose wedding!)

Screamingly Awesome

Kat

October 20, 2009

Remember Keith & Rachel's screamingly (yes I did just make that word up) awesome engagement session? well oh oh oh here comes the wedding! Yeeeeey...baby I love them - the dress, the tattoos, the succulents, the lanterns, the location (they got married under the same tree that they had their engagement shoot at), the cupcakes and the simple and beautiful yellow flower in her hair. Yes, I think I'm pretty much crazy about these! Thanks to the ever delightful Corin for sending these over and to Keith & Rachel for being just way too cool Credit: Corin Jones Photography

Wed Like Rockstars

Kat

October 19, 2009

I'm sure many of you have been waiting with baited breath to see these - hell, I know I have been dying to get these out! It's worth the wait though I assure you. Carly & James tied the knot at a winery in Sanger, CA. Her dress was an authentic vintage tutu style dress and feathery veil and James didn't even want to shave on the day - he rocked it though right!? So without further ado...prepare to be blown away by greatness. A Rock n Roll Bride classic if ever I've seen one. Again, thanks to Dani for sharing these...I feel so lucky to be the blog to bring them to you!

Too Wonderful for Words

Kat

October 16, 2009

I know I say this a lot but eeek I am so excited to share Vince & Amanda's wedding. I have been lusting over it ever since Lisa of Ophelia Photography showed me a sneaky peak and the full wedding certainly lives up to my hype! The candy coloured wedding took place at Minoru Chapel and UBC Boathouse in Vancouver and Amanda's dress was handmade by her Mother - how rad is that!? Lisa you rock my flipping world girl. Thanks so much for sharing these with Rock n Roll Bride. I heart you!
