A Black Wedding Dress, A Traditional Church Wedding & A Burlesque Themed Reception: Scarlet & Craig

Kat

November 21, 2011

Scarlet & Craig's wedding wowed me as soon as I spied that dress. I was so excited to be able to share this incredible Goth extravaganza and luckily for you lot, so were the newlyweds. In fact Craig's reply when I emailed him back saying 'Yes yes, hell yes (ps your wife is hot)' was something along the lines of 'OMG so excited that you're going to feature us!!! Squeeee'. "I'd never really thought about my wedding day growing up, so when Craig proposed on a trip to Amsterdam (with a tattoo that simply said 'Marry Me' on his wrists!) I was thrown into a bit of a panic!" Scarlet explained. "But as soon as we started planning we knew we wanted to do things our own way. Luckily we found Rock n Roll Bride, which made us realise there really are no 'rules' for a wedding, and then we just went all out! We didn't start out with one, but as we went along we developed a kind of pink and black gothic fairytale theme, pink being my favourite colour, and black being Craig's!

‘Rock n Robin’: A1950’s Christmas Shoot for the BBC

Kat

November 7, 2011

I know what you're thinking...Christmas stuff already woman?! Well just hear me out would ya... I've known wedding photographer Ashton Jean-Pierre ever since we both went to Emma Case's wedding back in March. I don't think we managed to talk on the night, but after the event I saw some of his incredible photos (that he just took on his iPhone!) on facebook and so I got in contact to ask if I could share some of them on my blog. He said yes and we've chatted online ever since. Ashton is deaf which makes no differece at all when communicating online, but when he asked if Gareth & I would like to do a mini shoot with him I was a teeny tiny bit nervous on how we would get on it 'real life'. However I needn't have worried. Ashton is so expressive and animated that it's actually pretty easy to have a conversation, and although I didn't know any sign language before we met, we were easily able to chat by gesturing and using good old fashioned pen and paper to write things down.

A Footloose Meets Vintage Romance Wedding: Jessie & Mark

Kat

November 2, 2011

You might mistakenly think that Jessie & Mark's wedding is a little on the pretty and elegant side for me, but you'd be wrong. On the odd occasion (in between all the tattooed chicks and badassery) I do like to swoon over a genuinely beautiful wedding like this one. The outdoor ceremony wedding and rustic barn reception were held at Fischer Hall, Texas. The bride wore a Priscilla of Boston gown which she found on preownedweddingdresses.com and real flowers in her hair.

An Edgar Allan Poe Themed Spooky Romance: TJ & Elizabeth

Kat

October 31, 2011

TJ & Elizabeth's wedding had a spooky Edgar Allen Poe or "Spooky romance" theme as the bride described it,"Think Edgar Allan Poe meets the Addams Family!" she explained. "Our inspiration basically just came from our relationship. We took things we love in our every day lives and tried to figure out how to incorporate them into our wedding. We wanted a vintage feel but wanted it to be a little on the darker side."

A Rooftop Bride Shoot with a Blue Haired Bride

Kat

October 25, 2011

"Must. Remember. To. Breathe" I thought as I looked through this amazing set of images sent over by Gabby of En Route Photography last week. It's not just beause bride-to-be Bonnie is utterly stunning...and has blue hair...and is rocking that amazing 80's dress like nobody's business... but just check out the LIGHT! The relatively simple rooftop backdrop (in Berlin no less) is the perfect location for such a breathtaking bridal shoot.

A Bride in Black: Bethany & Doug

Kat

October 18, 2011

Bethany & Doug were married at Houston Station, Nashville. The bride wore a black Betsey Johnson dress. "My dress was a big deal," she began. "I had originally purchased a vintage inspired white dress and the bridesmaids were going to wear black but I kept thinking about a photo I had seen of a model bride in black that our photographer had used as an ad for her studio. I really wanted to wear black but I was having a hard time finding one that didn't look goth, since that's not my style at all."

Lip Tattoos, Graffiti & Ice Cream: An Anti-Wedding Bridal Shoot

Kat

September 26, 2011

"The inspiration for this shoot really came from a morning cuppa with me and Hayley from Vintage Scoops, who owns a vintage ice cream van," photographer Shaneen Rosewarne Cox writes. "We became friends via Twitter and discovered that we live very close by. I couldn't resist a look at her fab ice cream van 'Betty' so we met up a few times. One morning over tea and lemon drizzle cake we decided to put together a shoot. 'Betty' is such a soft, pretty and summery ice cream van so we wanted to create a shoot that contradicted everything wedding-y."

Rock n Roll Bride on The Morning Blend – American TV Debut!

Kat

August 29, 2011

As most of you will know, I'm currently on my first American tour (OK it's not really a 'tour' per-say as I'm only going to two places but that sounds fancy right!?) This past week I've been in Omaha for their annual fashion week. I was invited by the way-too-cool Megan Hunt better known as Princess Lasertron to model a limited edition Rock n Roll Bride dress (that she would design and make especially for me and the readers of Rock n Roll Bride) in her runway show to debut her Fall 2011 collection. She quite frankly didn't have to ask me twice. I grabbed Gareth and we hot-footed our way to the US of A.

A Beer-Swilling, Handfasting, Freak Show Wedding: Heather & Tyler

Kat

August 23, 2011

Whoa Whoa Whoa...old onto your knickers as they are about to be blown off! Heather & Tyler's wedding is quite simply and all out freak-fest (and I mean that entirely as a compliment!) "Yeah I would describe our wedding as a Red, Black, Moustaches, Beer, Victorian, Wild West, Freak Show" Heather told me. "We wanted to get married in place with a lot of history (and liberal liquor laws) so we chose Virginia City, NV becasue it still has the Victorian beauty, but has decayed a bit to make it spooky and they welcome rowdiness. The ceremony venue was The Mackay Mansion and it is thought to be haunted. For the Ceremony, the wedding party (bride included) walked out to 'Hysteric' by the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. We had a gender-blind wedding party with both guys and gals on both sides."
