Sparkle

I found a linky to the wedding of UBER UBER UBER cool recent bride and artist Zoetica Ebb & her writer husband Ales Kot on Gala Darling last week and literally couldn't wait to share it with you - especially after I visited Zoetica's inspiring website and laid eyes on her sparkly, blue, faux-halk! Serious hair envy batman! The pair actually got officially married in a microscopic civil ceremony June as Ales is a Czech citizen (you can see Zoetica's post on the event here including their adorable 'leaving the ceremony' video) so the couple decided that a second 'just for show' ceremony didn't make sense so their wedding was actually just a big old Rock n Roll celebration!

Fairy Lights, Scrabble & English Heritage

Ella & Sam's London wedding was such a gorgeously quirky affair that not only I was boiling over with excitement to blog them, but Emily from the ridiculously popular (and in fact one of my personal favourite blogs) Once Wed was too. So we've decided to join forces on this one and to both share our favourite bits of this gloriously English affair. For all the ceremony and portraits head over to Once Wed and I'll handle the beautiful reception details. You might actually recognise Ella from her sister's wedding that I also featured on Rock n Roll Bride a while back - who could forget those wonderful red shoes?! While Tara opted for a bright and colourful summer wedding, Ella & Sam's day was one of enviable vintage glamour and sophistication - with a touch of Rock n Roll of course! I am absolutely crazy for those bridesmaids in sparkly black jackets and the un-corordinated patterned tights, and of Sam's awesome floral shirt and bow tie combo. The wedding which was held in Grenwich, London was one of English Heritage and followed by a secret dinner at Davy's Wine Vaults, decked out with candles and hand-chosen gifts for everyone

A Crystal-Encrusted-High-Octane-Glitterati Seriously Rocking Wedding Day

Kat

January 10, 2010

Follow up posts are always fun, I always think when I see an engagement session 'ooh I wonder what their wedding will be like?' So it's great to find out the answer! Nik & Nicole's Desperate Housewife session gave me high expectations for their big day, and boy am I not disappointed. I am loving Nicole's crystal encrusted shoes, cuffs and hairpiece and her phenomenal fishtail dress (check out the back!) which the bottom detached from for the dancing in the evening. Her bridesmaids too look every bit SATC chic in their daring black dresses and fishnet tights...and the boys in all black - hummanahummana... Thanks to Ryan for sharing these and bringing some much needed glamour to the site today Credit: RCJones Photography

I hadn't planned on another blog post today but I couldn't resist sharing these stunning images right this second! Siri is a singer/songwriter...and as it turns out, quite the model too. Just check out this stunning dress made for her by Stephanie James Couture for her upcoming tour. I thought she needed something special for her 2009 US tour, so I went with the Fifi dress with a draped bodice and puffy, pleated sleeves…she loves 80’s fashions, so I did my best SJC with an 80’s spin!! It looked amazing on her. My friend and I went up to Hollywood to make sure it fit her and did a mini photoshoot while we were at it!!

Cowboys & Indians

I'm pretty sure none of the adjectives flying around my head as I look at these images can do justice to this ridiculously, spectacularly, awesomely, fantastically, edgy and wicked shoot! Alma & David got married in New Orleans and had a cowboys & indians style wedding! The pair actually acted as models in a workshop for 25 photographers who want to learn new techniques and to photograph a couple as cool as they are. I'm sooo excited that photographer Belen sent her shots to me to feature - thanks so much chick! Credit: Gerber + Scarpelli Weddings

With Extra Sparkle

This little gift arrived into my inbox the other day from the ever delightful Brandi Thompson...I didn't realise it was Christmas already! You might remember Jayme from her engagement session with her (then) Hubby to be Matt and those shoes! Well from these it would appear that their wedding was just as Rock n Roll, gothic and pretty damn cool. Her dress was made especially for her by a local seamstress and the hat was from Leg Avenue to which she added her own extra sparkle! Thanks sooooo much for making my gothic fantasy's come true Brandi and Jayme! Credit: Brandi Thomspon Photography

Red, White & Sparkle

Trsiha & John got married at Point Vicente Interpretive Center in Rancho Palos Verdes which is actually old marine land. Trisha told me all about it: I think that we took the traditional/ all American black, red, and white wedding and added some wild flare and edgy fun! I wanted something wild yet simple and romantic all at the same time! My dress was by Bonny. My bridesmaid dresses were by Watters & Watters. The guys tux's were from Mens Warehouse and my flowergirl wore a tutu was from chasing fireflies and adorable red, sparkly converse trainers! Thanks to Trisha and John for sharing their wedding day with us! Credit: Jason Q Tran

Glam Rock

Kat

September 8, 2009

Aww pretty pretty sparkle dress! Faith sure looks rock n roll glam on her wedding day back in April! It's not only the dress that I love - her faux tats are super cute and the peacock feathers instead of a traditional floral bouquet are of course stunning. Her one of a kind, custom dress was designed and made by Marelize from Gingered in South Africa. The gown was based on Jenny Packham's Papillon dress, but being in South Africa getting hold of the origianl proved too difficult so Faith decided to get her own version made. Marelize even spent over 45 hours hand sewing on all the beads on the bodice - wow...Glam rock on! Thanks to Faith for not only sending me her images but for sharing all this fab info - a true Rock n Roll Bride!

Local Talent

This is something a little different for me to post but when I saw Rosie Parsons' last few 'detail shoots' I fell in love! The Bristol - based photographer has a great relationship with some fantastic local vendors, from Clara Bows who rents and sells gorgeous vintage crockery, to local florists Bella & Fifi with whom Rosie spend the day dashing around the city delivering blooms in an adorable eco-chic piaggio. Finally I had to share some photographs from Gilly Woo, a good friend of Rosies' 30th birthday a few weeks ago. The birthday girl is also a ridiculously talented dress maker and so not only are the images pretty damn stunning but how retro chic gorgeous is the her sparkly gold vintage glam dress? An Urban Fairytale

Hurrah! Part two of Caroline Ghetes' amazing vintage inspired bridal sessions is live! This second installment has a much more modern twist to it as Caroline wanted to show how vintage fashion can work in super modern, urban suroundings. She scoured Etsy for the majority of the gorgeous pieces to go in this shoot. The ever so popular 50's style tea dress was from ghmarketplace, the sparkly tulle veil was handmade with vintage material from the 1940's by Liaison, the pink and the peacock hairpieces were by Chamberry Cherry and finally the dramatic bouquet was actually made by Caroline herself. (Just in case you missed it, Part one is here) Thanks again to Caroline for sharing these with us. I am waiting with baited breath for the third and final installment!

When She Used To Rock n Roll

Kat

July 20, 2009

Kirsten & Josh’s wedding not only had a fun, retro feel, but they really went all out with their 1950’s diner theme. I am crazy in love with the Brides entire outfit - from her Dorothy ruby slippers to her cute polka dot dress made by her Mother and friend Marnie Rogers, who designs clothes for Wintersun. The gorgeous Bridesmaid had a rockabilly style to them - especially their amazing hairdos! For the reception, the couple went all out for a 50's diner theme, where they designed and made everything themselves. The centrepieces were giant lolly jars and each table had a different type of old school lolly, which was the name of the table ("Sweethearts" "Milk bottles" "Ice creams" "Jelly beans" etc) The place cards were black & white candy striped lolly bags with everyone's names on them, each painstakingly tied with little red ribbons. The placemats were old records that they picked up in an op shop and they had little gifts for everyone on the table - mini erasers in the shape of burgers, fries, hotdogs and donuts, plus vintage metal wind up toys. Each table also had a diner style spring loaded napkin holder, salt and pepper shakers and tomato and mustard bottles. Then best of all, for dinner they served burgers, hotdogs, pizza and fries. I bet their guests were thrilled - no boring wedding food for them! The celebrations continued into the night with the couple having their first dance to 'I remember the Bride when she used to Rock n Roll' by the Stray Cats, finishing the night by swaying along to 'Earth Angel'. Thanks to the Groom's Mother Rhonda for sending me this wedding and to the couple for putting together all the awesome info for you all.

A Vintage Masterpiece

Kat

June 29, 2009

If Ginny & Ed's vintage wedding isn't featured on every wedding blog out there I will eat my..well, hat. Does photographer Josh Goleman get the best clients or what?! Remember these guys for example? Yep...amazing! Although my automatic reaction is usually to be against the idea of asking guests to dress as per the theme of your wedding, I have to admit the effect of everyone vintaged-up together is phenomonal to say the least. I am literally dying of excitement to share these!

I Am Smitten.

Angelica Glass is one of those photographers that I wishI'd known about when we were planning our own wedding! Her style is so fresh and modern and she always makes her subjects look so flawless and model-like. Her attention to detail is beyond fabulous, there is something about the way she shoots these extreme close ups that just make everything pop! Well this post has turned into a bit of an Angelica love-fest right? What I was meaning to do was to share this new gorgeous wedding with you...the details from those sparkly blue Christian Louboutin shoes to the custom invitations, from the unique flowers to the Monique Lhuillier wearing Bride's awesome tattoos - everything is totally rock n roll fabulous, and the couple most definitely could be rock stars themselves! Oh... and the cake, and the Bridesmaid dresses, and the moustaches, and the Polaroid photo booth, and the fact the Bride is quite literally model-perfect... Smitten doesn't even cover it.

Beth Retrois a stock photographer from Essex, England. I came across her gorgeous images via the wonder that is flickr and I straight away knew I'd be sharing these as some non wedding - wedding inspiration. Whimsical and beautiful, her use of out-of-focus, twinkling lights and bright, luminous colours is right up my street. She also appears as obsessed with balloon as french fancies as I am so it's gotta be good! For more of Beth's work check out her flickr stream, or herEtsy store of you fancy treating yourself, I know I will be!
