Alex and Sophia were married at Stoke Newington Town Hall, followed by a reception at The Draper’s Arms pub in Islington, London. They day had a subtle vintage vibe - from Sophia's Jenny Packham dress and Flo and Percy headpiece, to the retro photo booth and polaroid shots their photographer Lisa Jane took! The beautiful wedding of Anna and Luke took place at Victorian Marriage Registry, Melbourne followed by a casual lunch at Golden Orchids Malaysian Restaurant (where they had their first date!) and an evening reception at North Fitzroy Star. Nothing about this wedding was traditional. The bride wore a non-wedding dress from theoutnet.com, the cakes and desserts were made by their loved ones instead of a wedding cake and instead of an expensive wedding car they either walked or caught taxi's from place to place.Read more...

They met in Manchester in 2001 while they were both at University. He asked her to join his band even though he didn't have one yet. At their Islington wedding, 12 years later, many of the friends they made during this time were there as witnesses. "We considered many themes briefly but decided in the end just to try to make the day as relaxed and informal as we could while still making it feel like a special event", explained the bride. Ben and Emma wanted a wedding that was, above everything else, chilled out and relaxed. The day took place at The Star Inn in North Yorkshire, their guest list was limited and Emma bought and wore the very first dress she tried on. Marina and Darren were married at The Prince Albert pub in Camden. Their day was simple but elegant and beautiful. The bride read the term 'rustic luxe' in a bridal magazine and that seemed to fit them perfectly! "Our wedding was full of beautiful rustic touches, like the flowers and picnic baskets, mixed in with a bit of 1920s glamour to give it a luxurious feel," she explained. Ciaran & Ellen's wedding was a far removed from a traditional wedding as possible. The bride didn't wear a white dress, she wore a tweed suit; they didn't have bridesmaids or groomsmen, they had their dogs; they didn't have a fancy vintage car, the went for a hike. The ceremony was held at The Woolpack Inn in Cumbria in February and was followed by a low key and intimate meal for their few attendees. I'm rather partial to IKEA... I know it's not the fanciest of home stores, but whenever I persuade Gareth that we need a trip there (I'm sure we're due another one soon) I feel like a proper grown up. I can actually afford the stuff (like who decided £2000 was standard for a table and chairs? pah John Lewis, PAH!) and it makes me feel all educated buying things with Swedish names. Plus their items are always pretty... even if not always functional - "why yes Gareth I do need that cardboard deer head to put on my office wall..." And don't even get me started on the kids department. I just wish the pink chest of drawers came in adult size... So when wedding photographer and all round cool dude Chris Barber sent me Janet & Dave's wedding I was excited. Not just because of Dave's Rock n Roll stylings but because they chose the Coventry Ikea as the location for their wedding day portrait sesh. GENIUS! Oh and they spent just £4000 on their day. "Jon & I were married on a scorching hot day (temperatures just shy of 100F!) in September of last year in Columbus, Ohio", wrote Ashley. "This was the culmination of a year and a half of UK to USA long distance relationshipping! We met while living and teaching ESL in South Korea 3 years ago, and after 8 months of dating while there decided to keep trying even as we returned to our respective continents. After Korea, I started a master's degree course in Ohio while Jon returned to Brighton and found a job. The year and a half apart was tough but we kept the love alive with lots and lots of Skyping and daily gchats. We got engaged when Jon surprised me by secretly flying to Ohio (an impressive collaboration between himself and one of my best friends/roommate) on February 13th, 2011 with a vintage ring he'd bought at an antique shop in the Brighton Lanes.
