The World Is Our Living Room

Kat

September 3, 2009

Cyrus & Kiss (I kid you not - cutest names ever!) had a 'the world is our living room' themed engagement shoot. Along with their photographers, they lugged a sofa (actually from the photographer's house!) into the back of a truck and drove to their location. When they got there they only wished they had also brought the TV and maybe a lamp or two to complete the set! Thanks to Paul for sending these to me. Love the album cover feel these have... So I received a link to this amazing lifestyle style engagement session last week and I have been waiting with baited breath all week to share them with you! I love the concept. It's like a day in the life of...series. It really reminds me of that Brangelina W Magazine shoot. It's got a great 1950's vibe to it all. Either way it's flipping gorgeous and Sabina & Andres make for fantastic models. Thanks to Molly & Matt for sharing this awesome set with us! Credit: Mathieu Photography

Quirky, Colourful, Kitsch

Kat

I am crazy in love with Tanya & Mark's amazingly colourful DIY wedding! The event took place in Tanya's parent's backyard in Northampton, PA and totally reflected the couple's quirky, colourful, kitschy nature. They really put 100% of themselves into the day. Tanya made the invitations, the felt flowers, the centrepieces and most of the decorations herself and all of the tables were covered with unique vintage fabric sourced from various places throughout the wedding planning. One of my favourite details had got to be the pink flamingos everywhere though! Tanya says she has a slight obsession with John Waters so this detail was a must! Tanya found her and her Bridesmaid's dress from Ebay and her amazing red birdcage veil from Events and Occasions. Her shoes were from Modcloth and her red petticoat was found at Unique Vintage. Thanks to Tanya and Mark for sharing their day and all the gorgeous details with us! Credit: Matt Stanley

Cowboys & Rockstars

Chris & Todd had two reasons to celebrate on their wedding day as Chris was 7 1/2 months pregnant! Her gorgeous dress and bolero were custom made by Elizabeth Dye and complimented her baby bump beautifully. I hope I look this radiant if I ever have kids. The couple incorporated everything they love into the day, as photographer Heather Hawksford described it - 'canoeing, horseshoe, croquet, Pete Krebs Trio, The Dickle Brothers, cowboys & rockstars chatting over homemade beer' Sounds perfect huh? Wherever The Music Takes You

With a pair as passionate about music as these guys, coupled with the fact that they met at a park, what better place to have their engagement shoot than at a picnic and to have it featured on Rock n Roll Bride!? I am well aware that every single couple I feature is adorable, but Emma & Paul?...there really is no other way to describe them! The Enchanted Forest

Kat

August 19, 2009

Sarah & Kevin's North Carolina wedding has got to be one of the most detail-perfect enchanted woodland wonderlands I've ever seen, with branches even weaving and wondering throughout the rooms the couple got ready in. This stunning venue is Garden Retreat in Poplar. At this outset this day had an air of magic about it. From the ever so slightly scary giant wooden insects, to the awesome 'picture on the wall' photo booth, to the amazingly detailed centrepieces - there is nothing about this wedding that doesn't exude enchantment. The magic doesn't stop there though - the couple actually DIY'ed the whole lot! Oh yes...That is quite frankly incredible and makes me feel terribly terribly inartistic. The couple's portraits in the woods are so perfect they look like they were shot on the set of a Hollywood movie - most probably directed by Tim Burton or written by Lewis Carroll. I just can't get enough of the back lit images! As always, thanks to Tara for sharing her incredible images with me. Eeeek..I looove them! Credit: Dixie Pixel Photography

Worth The Wait

Sometimes a wedding comes along that is so damn fabulous that it's worth the wait for. I was sent an image of the bride trying on her stunning Elizabeth Dye dress by a reader, boy must have been about 6 months ago, and since then I have made it my mission to find more about the wedding, the dress, the girl, the guy and the stunning photography - it's all a bit too delightful for words huh?I am so excited to finally announce that I have the results right here! You are going to be completely gaga over these - I know I am! Ali & Danny were married on the 6th June at Bend, Oregon. The ruffles, the flowers, the cute cute shoes...I just love it all. Too Stylish For Me

Kat

August 11, 2009

Bess & Matt...ahh what can I really say what would do justice to the images I see before me? The couple wed at Ridley Creek State Park with an amazing outdoorsy, rustic style fest. Of course Bess' tattoos and Matt's 'tache are what did it for me. Not to mention the dress by Megin Sherry, the check shirt (wow this Groom has some serious style) the casual garden flowers provided by Amanda Staples, the peacock earrings, the trilby hat and the cupcakes...oh yes Bess & Matt are just too stylish for me. Thanks to Amanda & Carina for sending me this glorious wedding Credit: Love Me Do Photography

Vibrant.

Kat

Dave & Pam sure let their imagination run wild with their gorgeous wedding at Canada's Kopje Regional Park. The Bride is particular loves bright colours and so decided to reflect that in their day by organising and designing the whole thing herself. Her dress was by Maggie Sottero and the awesome stripey cake was made by Wedding Cake Creations. For the flowers they relied on the expertise of Art Knapp Plantland & Florists, which meant they got the perfect pink, orange and red (who says they don't go together!?) flower combo to compliment the rest of the decor. I love their completely non-boring group shots too! The photographers wanted to find something different and were worried that they might not in such a small town. However when driving one day, the spotted the a mechanic's garage on the side of the highway and after asking a pretty confused owner permission to use the site they had found their perfect spot. The antiquey sofa and the fun masks add a great finish to the shots and transform them into something that is anything but dull. Thanks to photographers Emmy & Aaron for sharing this hot damn gorgeous wedding with us! Credit: E/A Photography

A Topsy Turvy, Day Of The Dead, Mexican, Skull Spectacular

Kat

August 5, 2009

I swear sometimes I am overwhelmed by the greatness of the submissions I receive for my little blog. I have many people say to me that I must not sleep due to the amount of blogging I do, but I really only wish I could do more! When I saw Melissa & Phil's wedding I knew I'd be getting these bad boys up asap! The couple went for a 'Day of the Dead', skull and Mexican theme - complete with an awesome brightly coloured skull encrusted cake made by The Bleeding Heart Bakery (plus custom skeleton cake topper from Claylindo.) The couple have matching skull tattoos that they got after only 8 months of dating so there knew it was pretty much the perfect theme for them. When they started to plan their wedding they only had two things they knew they wanted - skulls and tacos! Melissa explains: I heard about a Mexican custom for the newlyweds’ cake to have a skeleton bride and groom perched atop it. This symbolized the couple will not only be together until death, but even after death for all eternity. We liked this concept so much, we extrapolated upon it and made it the theme and focus of our entire wedding. The Dia De Los Muertos theme was a perfect fit! It is a custom that is spiritual, quirky, morbid, and unique – just like us! The couple also incorporated a quirky, retro feel to the day. As Melissa went on to tell me: I wanted a "vintage" feel for the attire, but also knew that I NEEDED to wear a cute top hat. Or I would possibly die. All the maids had pinup-style dresses and hairdos with skull feather fascinators in their hair. I wore a long A-line dress by Maggie Sottero with a custom made top hat from Topsy Turvey Designs, and had a slight steampunk look happening. I tried to make the guys look a teensy bit vintage with their vest and sans-jacket look. And Phil wore a lovely long suit jacket that looked almost pall-bearer-esque and complimented his long hair nicely. A huge Rock n Roll Bride thank you to Melissa & Phil for sharing their day...and a even bigger thank you to every single one of you that takes the time to send your wedding gorgeousness my way! I ♥ you all...

Vintage Rural

Kat

August 3, 2009

Part three of Caroline Ghetes' modern vintage bridal sessions landed on my online lap this afternoon and it's a corker. This final installment has much more of a country feel - the shed, the field, the horses, the cowboy boots, the rustic, casual florals (made by Caroline herself!) - but that doesn't stop me from having a hell lotta love for them. The model's dress was supplied by etsy seller Lorimarsha (it's the same dress as used in the 'aviation' shoot) and her pink hairpiece was by Chamberry Cherry, who can also be found onEtsy. Clicky here for part one and two... Thanks to Caroline for sharing her newest work with us.

Retro Italy Wedding

Kat

August 3, 2009

I'm well aware it's very unlike me to blog so little on a Monday but I have been a bit of a busy bee today. Please forgive me and fret not because Janel & Jim's 'retro italian' wedding is here y'all! (I don't know where that 'y'all' came from either) The couple continued to rock their awesome kitch/rockabilly style whist still managing to pull of a pretty damn elegant wedding. The dog was of course there being his cutie-pie self and the styling was second to none. From the vintage vespas (again) to the retro suitcase, from the kinky killer heels to the merrygoround - this wedding is one of pure rock n roll class.
