An Eco Friendly Family Wedding

Kat

November 17, 2009

Fern & Ben organised their eco wedding themselves with the help of their families. Fern's uncle even made the gorgeous cake. Everything from the invitations (recycled paper with hand-pressed flowers) to the ring bearer's pillow (Fern sewed it herself) was a DIY job. Ben even designed Fern's engagement ring from eco-friendly jewelers (rose gold with a single chocolate diamond.) They chose to get married on the land where Fern was born. The material for the gorgeous napkins were all different patterns and colours and every table had a sharpie at it so the napkins could act as a guestbook, each piece will now be turned into a quilt with which they will always remember their wedding day. A couple of other unique aspects from this wedding were the slideshow (they pinned old pictures of themselves on a clothesline in the trees) and the fact that Fern's oldest sister married them. The dress that Fern wore was a designer dress that she borrowed (she's a model). It was an original, one of a kind Melissa Sweet sample. The flowers were different assortments of wildflowers and no table or bridesmaid had the same arrangement. The ENTIRE bridal party even went barefoot! They had a bagpipe player before the ceremony which was very, very cool and beautiful. Their reception was super fun with a bluegrass band, good-luck sparkler dance and plenty of dancing.

Vintage. Quirky. Eco. Gorgeous.

Kat

November 17, 2009

Who couldn't love the quirky, vintage, rustic, eco wedding of Amanda & Matt? I am particularly gaga about the wheat bouquet and boutonnieres and Amanda's beautiful cameo bracelet. The pair wed at theirhome in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia. They rented a tentand despite the torrential downpour most of the day, things worked out really well in there. Friend and caterer, Nikki Kleinberg, catered the wedding using mostly foods grown in the urban farm Amanda and Matt maintain adjacent to their backyard. These two are super into self sustaining, eco-friendly means to living in the city. Amanda made her own flowers and centerpieces and friends played the music for the wedding ceremony plus they even dj-ed their own reception. Thanks to Carina & Amanda of Love Me Do Photography for giving Rock n Roll Bride the exclusive first showing of this awesome wedding.

Little Black Number

Kat

November 15, 2009

This bride actually bought a prom dress to wear on her big day as she wanted a little black number! It fitted in perfectly with their venue (an estate) and it's beautiful and old demeanor - it was full of antiques which suited the couple and their style perfectly. The reception was outside held and decorated with butterflies and moss which certainly made for the perfect backdrop for photographs. With an English family who love football (soccer!) they had to get a game in there. The bride even bought wellies - black and pink of course - to play along in the rain too. Photographer Ingrid paid special attention to photographing this special part of the day. Thanks to Ingrid for sharing these with us today

Sleepy Hollow(een) Wedding

Kat

November 6, 2009

I don't get to feature enough gothic style weddings so when Carmel & Drynn's rustic yet opulent gothic affair landed on my desk I jumped at the chance to share these. The Bride told me... I found my dress at Gothic Wedding Dresses and our flowers were done by Punch Portland. The inspiration for our theme was based on Tim Burton-esque Sleepy Hollow, classic Victorian but with a dark feel. We are kind of "darker" individuals so we wanted that reflected but wanted to do it in a classy tasteful way. We didn't want to scare our guests too much! We picked Drynn's hat up at a vintage store the feather piece & my headpieces were done by Cricket Quills. Thanks to Carmel & Drynn for sharing their day with us

October 27, 2009

A DIY wedding with Holga images? Oh hell yeah baby! Shelly & Jeff had a wedding that perfectly epitomised them. From the turquoise and orange pom poms and the personalised 'All You Need is Love' M&Ms to their friend playing 'Blackbird' by The Beatles and Dr Seuss' 'Oh The Places We Will Go' as gifts. From the sparrow salt & pepper shakers as a cake topper and succulents as centrepieces to the their customised 'lunchboxes' by Pink Avocado..oh yes yes yes! Shelly's beautiful dress was by Linda Asaf and I love it all! Thanks to Katherine for sending these over to me. I am in lurrrve Credit: Katherine O'Brien Photography

Rock n Roll Perfect

Kat

October 22, 2009

It doesn't get more Rock n Roll perfect than this! Sommer & Dan's wedding took place in an old mill is Somerset, New Jersey which is owned by Dan's parents. The bride wore a 1950s prom dress from Ebay and snakeskin Kate Spade shoes. The groom rocked it in a custom suit with spiderweb lining and the bridesmaids looked the part in leopard print shoes. To top off the day, Bruce, the family pet rooster, served as ring bearer and apparently he did a great job! Thanks to Siobhan for sharing this awesome wedding with us...Ooooh I adore my readers! Beautiful You

Kat

October 21, 2009

I have to be honest, when I received an email from Evelyn Eslava asking if I wanted to share a photo shoot featuring vintage dresses and horses I wasn't immediately blown away...I'm not the outdoors type should we say! But when she sent the images through yesterday, boy was I proven wrong? I am in love! Top secret news: Myself and my gorgeous hubby Gareth are doing a photo shoot this week (eek how exciting!) and we will most certainly be using these as inspiration - in fact I have already emailed this shoot to our photographer to check out. If only I can pull off that effortlessly chic vintage look myself...hum... Thanks to Evelyn for sending these over and to the models Lianna, Lydia & Lauren for being too gorgeous for words

Wed Like Rockstars

Kat

October 19, 2009

I'm sure many of you have been waiting with baited breath to see these - hell, I know I have been dying to get these out! It's worth the wait though I assure you. Carly & James tied the knot at a winery in Sanger, CA. Her dress was an authentic vintage tutu style dress and feathery veil and James didn't even want to shave on the day - he rocked it though right!? So without further ado...prepare to be blown away by greatness. A Rock n Roll Bride classic if ever I've seen one. Again, thanks to Dani for sharing these...I feel so lucky to be the blog to bring them to you!

Kind of A Big Deal

Kat

October 16, 2009

So I may have written a massive article about how fab Erica Berger is just a two days ago, but when she showed me these photographs and told me the couple found her through Rock n Roll Bride...well I wasn't going to say no to sharing these little beauties was I!? Leigh & Corbett are kind of a big deal (was that a line from Anchorman?hehe). He is the co-creature of the "Saw" franchise and she is an actress and was in The Young & The Restless - I have famous readers don't ya know?! Apparently they love me and went nuts when they saw Erica's work on my blog. I'm a little bit over-excited about that. Woooooo. Oh. And their wedding absolutely rocked. Thanks Erica, Leigh & Corbett...love you too!

I Saw a Shooting Star on my Wedding Night

Kat

October 15, 2009

Do you remember Anna & Ryan's Old Fashioned Love Affair wedding? Well, Mysi & Craig, the photographers of that soiree sent me their very own wedding - they got hitched a few weeks after! Mysi & Craig got married at a lodge in the middle of nowhere, near her parent's house in Illinois. They made a lot of the details - throwing themselves wholeheartedly into the DIY! They created their own programs to look like newspapers and got their invites printed onto handkerchiefs, the design of which was by the amazing etsy artist Heather Jenny.

Isn't this just one gorgeous couple? They seriously should be models methinks! Photographer Amelia travel to Utah to shoot this 'engagement' (the couple are actually already married, but hey why has a fact like that gotta stop you?!) I really do love props like the old books and the suitcases. They can make or break a shoot and these have certainly made it perfect. Thanks to the delightful Amelia for sending these in. Mwah!
