October 4, 2013

Ali and Ben met while they were both working at PlayStation. This mutual love fro all things techy and geeky was a recurring theme throughout their festival inspired wedding. Instead of using lots of paper they sent out digital invitations and had an online gift list, their seating plan was animated and they had pacman references everywhere. Each tier of their homemade wedding cake was a different PlayStation symbol, and they even the meme style table names!

Rain on your wedding day is a big worry for a lot of couples, but today I'm here to prove to you that it can actually be pretty amazing! Yes, Helen and James' outdoor festival wedding was a wash-out, but they definitely didn't let it ruin their day. Check out the amazing photographs their photographer Neil Thomas Douglas was able to capture... of course shots like this requires a couple who aren't afraid to get a little wet and muddy, but these guys went all out! Lauren and Red's Pennsylvania wedding was a real team effort. It planned by the bride, her mother and their neighbour Patience. The wedding was held on the couple's own farm. "Patience taught us how to make homemade limoncello and smoked salmon and helped so much during the wedding making sure things ran smoothly", Lauren explained. "My mother is a crazy collector of beautiful dishes, as well as ideas. She is also a food connoisseur so she helped add tons of vision and plan the menu. Patience’s daughter got married the weekend before so we were able to share a lot of supplies and ideas which worked out very well as well as work trade. My mother in-law Eva planned the rehearsal dinner which also happened to be my birthday. She created a picnic outdoor super with barbecue chicken for 45 two days before the wedding. She also helped decorate!"

September 6, 2013

Ellie and Ed wanted their June wedding to not only reflect them - their likes and loves - but to be a fun day for everyone, full of DIY details. The day started with an emotional ceremony at Aldenham School, Elstree and the reception was in tipis on Buckettsland Farm, Well End. "We said the whole way through the planning process that we didn't have a theme but looking back it was essentially junk and glitter", began the bride. "If you ever saw our flat, you would know that we’re not matchy-matchy people in the slightest. I love tack and have a big collection of oddities, plus I have an obsession with the stars and the moon and anything glittery, so I always knew they would end up making an appearance."

Casual Barn Wedding: Kate & Dan

August 26, 2013

Kate and Dan wanted a big celebration for their May wedding, but one that was also relaxed for their guests and a lot of fun. They wanted to involve them in the day as much as possible and not only had their guests bring cakes instead of gifts, which were eaten instead of a traditional wedding cake, but sent everyone a little packets of seeds with their invitations, asking them to grow the flowers and bring them along on the day. The crappy weather in the run up to the wedding meant that a lot of the flowers didn't grow very much but everyone still valiantly brought along their little seedlings to show the couple and to display at the wedding. Don't you just utterly love that idea?!

August 19, 2013

Six months after their legal ceremony at Brighton Register Office, Jen and Steve had what they would consider their 'real' wedding. "We wanted a spring weekend of celebration, filled with love, laughter and true meaning", Steve explained. "Having got the 'legal' bit out of the way we could design the entire day around what we really felt important to us, which was to be surrounded by like-minded souls having a relaxed weekend house party with a festival feel, centred around a Humanist ceremony that we wrote specifically for ourselves and witnessed by friends and family."

Veronica and Craig are pretty much obsessed with their camper van, so when wedding photographer Lisa Devlin asked them if they'd like to model for her upcoming Photography Farm, a 3-day residential photography workshop in the heart of Sussex, they asked if it could get in on the action too! From there an idea started to form for the shoot and Lisa, alongside florist and stylist extraordinaire Hannah of The Tea Set, came up with the concept of a Summer of Love theme.

July 11, 2013

Hannah and Kristie were married at Quonquont Farm in Whately, MA. Their laid back May celebration was one that perfectly reflected them as a couple. "Kristie's from Virginia and I'm a New England girl through-and-through", explained Hannah, "so we wanted to find a happy balance that would allow all our friends and family to feel comfortable and have a good time. Elegant, rustic, authentic, quirky, and comfortable were all words we threw around during the planning process."
