Quirky & Stunning, British Wedding

Kat

February 22, 2010

Forgive me, but I literally almost wet myself when I saw these shots from the hottest, newest photographer on the block, Emma Case - and can you believe it, this is only her first official 'Emma Case wedding'! (I've featured a wedding she shot for a friend before she decided to pursue it full time.) I got a very excitable email from the lady herself this morning and I couldn't wait to get home to share these right away. "Well, here it is, my very first, official, didn't know the couple before, professional, as 'Emma Case Photography' wedding!" She began. "Christie contacted me back in November and straight away I knew just how ace she was. Not only did she mention fake moustaches and knee-sliding as part of the wedding plan but she was funny and honest and completely on my wavelength. We emailed back and forth in a 'know each other already' type of way and by the time me and Pete were driving up to Devon on the 30th January I was a little nervous but so excited to finally meet her (we didn't get the chance beforehand) and her soon to be husband... the Berninator! The wedding was held at the most amazing Huntsham Court... oh man the bathroom in the bridal suite was AMAZING, oh and the library... and the... well you can see for yourselves, the whole house is stunning! The ceremony (that I wasn't allowed to photograph.. grumble, grumble) was beautiful with a really heartfelt speech from both Christie and Bernie's sisters (I'm gonna have to man up in this profession as I could feel myself going) and then food was served followed by a wonderfully proud speech from the Father of the Bride and a particularly funny song by the Best Man and his guitar! Instead of a wedding cake they had a 'pig'nata (pinata) and for the evening entertainment 'Gabby Young & Other Animals' played their socks off (you need to check this band out) and EVERYONE was dancing! Finish it all off with about 3 hours of The Photo Booth which had me literally in pain through laughing too much and you have all the ingredients for one hot wedding." Thanks to the lovely Emma for sharing these, and I KNOW we'll be seeing a lot more greatness from this girlie (and I can't wait to finally meet her soon!)

I'll be back tomorrow with part 2 (there's too much to narrow it down to just one post!) I'm also taking this slow blog-time (I like to refer to it as 'Crimbo Limbo' (!) to ponder my ideas and plans for Rock n Roll Bride in 2010. I'll try and share my musings for the year ahead with you soon and would love for you to let me know what you think. It's all about you dear reader after all...

A Day Dreamy, Whimsical Picnic Wedding

Kat

October 7, 2009

Jenna & Michael had a fabulously quirky, kiiky and personally rockin' wedding two weeks ago and the every lovely Love Me Do photography were there to capture the entire thing. The couple put a lot of work into the day with DIY projects a-plenty. "We wanted our wedding to be very classic looking, but still have a whimsical picnic, day dreamy kind of day feeling” the couple explained and they certainly acheived this goal with ideas such as the wishing tree - handmade bird silhouettes pinned into flocks and hung from the branches - which was used instead of a guestbook and the funky chocolate mouschases that certainly made for some great pictures and were provided by Pink, White, Brown. Jenna looked the perfect rock n roll bride in her Alvina Valenta dress and hairpeice from Liaison on Etsy. The bridesmaids dresses were the stunning Vivien Leigh dress by Siri in which they all looks quite the rockabilly princesses! Like these images? Well if you are about to book your wedding photographer then STOP. Hold on a few days and wait until I launch my next contest on Monday... I am terrible at keeping secrets it would seem but it may just be my best ever. Eeek...My lips are sealed. Thanks to Carina & Amanda as always for the gorgeousness and to Jenna & Mike for all the wonderful details. Credit: Love Me Do Photography

Tyson & Courtney are a quirky and creative couple and so what else would be perfect for their wedding than what full of quirks and creating! The event took place at the house and yards of The Dana Powers House in Nipomo, where the couple made the day their own with all the personal touches. Thanks to the lovely Beth for sharing these with me and yes I am waiting to hear who made the dress right now! Fret not... Credit: Bath Armsheimer Photography

Guess Who’s Back?

Do you remember Stacey & Quentin and their awesome love train photo session from earlier this year? I have to say, I see a lot of faces and photographs everyday but as soon as I saw these I recognised Quentin (or more specificallyhis damn cool beard!) right away. The couple, who cited Rock n Roll Bride as a great source of inspiration during their wedding planning (yey!) met up with Jeremy Lawson for yet more fabulous portraits - lucky things! Jeremy, you rock my world! MWAH...

Too Stylish For Me

Kat

August 11, 2009

Bess & Matt...ahh what can I really say what would do justice to the images I see before me? The couple wed at Ridley Creek State Park with an amazing outdoorsy, rustic style fest. Of course Bess' tattoos and Matt's 'tache are what did it for me. Not to mention the dress by Megin Sherry, the check shirt (wow this Groom has some serious style) the casual garden flowers provided by Amanda Staples, the peacock earrings, the trilby hat and the cupcakes...oh yes Bess & Matt are just too stylish for me. Thanks to Amanda & Carina for sending me this glorious wedding Credit: Love Me Do Photography

Days Gone By

Kat

August 5, 2009

Emma & Chris had their engagement shoot at home with the french bulldog Colby for company. Chris' sister photographed them using film and digital to get these great shots. I have had such a resurgence of love for film photography recently, I am loving reliving days gone by with the gorgeousness of real film photography so these are right up my street. Thanks to Emma & Chris for sending me these gorgoeus shots and I can't wait to see their wedding photographs (which will be captured by the wonderful Katherine O'Brien) Credit: Kelly Lynn James for Williams-Matson

Family, Friends and Fabulous Fashion!

Kat

July 10, 2009

I have been dying to get the wedding up all day, and I am so excited that it is all now ready to go. Photographer Monika Broz of Project Mad Love sent me these gorgeous images alongside a fantastic overview of their day by the couple, Cori & Rollie. So without further ado... We wanted to have a relaxed but stylish outdoor wedding with a casual feel in the Lambertville/New Hope area close to where are families are from but not too far from NYC where a lot of our friends are. I always pictured the sun shining with fluffy clouds and blue skies and kids running around and everyone just kicking back and enjoying the good food and good company. We chose the Mills for it's beautiful location on the Delaware River and the charm and history of the buildings.

Been Done? Who Cares?

Kat

July 8, 2009

You know this about me already but I'm a huge activist for being yourself on your wedding day, however crazy, out there or even mundane (oh yes) that may be. As all the veteran readers will know, I ran a contest for free wedding photography a while back, and have now gotten to know our winners pretty well. I was chatting to the Bride to be, Vana, on the phone the other day for no joke, literally an hour about all things wedding (jeez that gal can talk he he!) and I'm sure she won't mind me telling you this, she was running a few of her newest wedding ideas by me to ask my opinion as to whether I thought they had 'been done' (for some reason she thinks I must be some kind of expert on such things…) I said this to her, and on her recommendation I am now going to say this to all of you...do not worry about tack, or about being over the top or if something you really want seems to be springing up everywhere in blog-land, and has therefore ‘been done’. Just remember this teeny tiny pearl of wisdom…Your guests won't have been scoring the Internet looking for wedding ideas for the last year so will have no idea if something has 'been done' or not! To me, our wedding was not completely nuts. We kept it quite simple with a black and white theme and a few personal touches, but we had so many people saying to us it was the most stylish and cool wedding they had ever been too...they hadn't spent the last year looking at other people's weddings and comparing themselves after all! So don't doubt yourself... Are you lusting after that cute Stephanie James Couturedress but are worried that in 10 years time the cute short dress look will look as dated as the poofy sleeved meringues of the 80’s? Pah, if I got married in the 80’s I would have wanted to remember the 80’s…2008 was the greatest year of my life and I want to remember that year through my wedding pictures. Have you have been dying to have cupcakes as your wedding cake ever since you started planning your wedding, but are worried because now everybodyseems to be doing it? Well a lot of people that are getting married may be yes, but everybody in the entire world?...erm no. Are you worried that your wedding isn’t cool enough because you spend all day looking at weddings that seen so much crazier/chicer than yours? (You are not alone by the way, I felt the exact same thing) You are more likely to regret planning a wedding in a style that wasn’t really ‘you’ than one that perfectly matches you and your fiancé’s tastes. So quit stressing about what other people will think and just do it already...and then send me the photographs afterwards! Now for a couple of trends I love and therefore don't care if they've 'been done'. Let me know if I've missed any of your favourites!

Sweet As Cherry Pie

Kat

July 3, 2009

This sugary sweet engagement session is full of fun and frolics and I have been dying to get these up all day. Bridget and Dan chose Balboa Island for their shoot as they will be getting married there in September at her grandparents house. The candy bouquet was quickly put together by the photographer, Crissy after she saw them in cute little bunches at a local shop, and the stick on moustaches were bought on Etsy. Thanks to Crissy for sharing these sweet as cherry pie shots with me!

Las Vagas Showdown

Kat

July 1, 2009

Have you been eagerly sitting by your computer waiting for the next installment of Teneisha & Chris' crazy-gorgeous wedding extravaganza? I certainly have..every 5 minutes I've been checking my email to see if the rest of the photographs have been sent to me...sad? yes, yes I am. Now if you thought their engagement shoot was to die for then you ain't seen nothing yet! I'm actually going to stop gabbing on about it and hand straight over to the couple who have described their wedding and their idea of what makes a rock n roll wedding absolutely perfectly... The objective for our wedding, besides getting married, was about two things. The first was a goal that every single person have a completely kick ass time, including ourselves, and the second being that we would do things our way, no questions asked. We solved the "having fun" issue pretty easily by getting married on a Saturday evening, in Las Vegas; with a premium open bar and an excellent ipod play list. We served sushi and had chocolate covered strawberries instead of cake at our reception and had an open invitation after-party with a bathtub full of beer and debauchery that lasted until 5am. We also encouraged people to get creative with the dress code, which produced a very colorful crowd. I think that our Bride and Groom outfits helped to set the right mood as well. I wore a vintage inspired, Sherri Hill polka dotted blue/gold/silver dress with all bright red accessories that I either made myself or bought from independent artists on etsy.com. I had the dress shortened from ballroom to tea length, which everyone tried to talk me out of and I'm so glad I didn't listen! The groom wore crazy blue pants, suspenders, a fedora and an awesome bow tie that matched my dress perfectly. You love this couple right? Yeah me too. Again, I can't thank Teneisha & Chris' and their wonderful photographer Holly Jones enough for sharing this amazing wedding with me!

I Am Smitten.

Kat

Angelica Glass is one of those photographers that I wishI'd known about when we were planning our own wedding! Her style is so fresh and modern and she always makes her subjects look so flawless and model-like. Her attention to detail is beyond fabulous, there is something about the way she shoots these extreme close ups that just make everything pop! Well this post has turned into a bit of an Angelica love-fest right? What I was meaning to do was to share this new gorgeous wedding with you...the details from those sparkly blue Christian Louboutin shoes to the custom invitations, from the unique flowers to the Monique Lhuillier wearing Bride's awesome tattoos - everything is totally rock n roll fabulous, and the couple most definitely could be rock stars themselves! Oh... and the cake, and the Bridesmaid dresses, and the moustaches, and the Polaroid photo booth, and the fact the Bride is quite literally model-perfect... Smitten doesn't even cover it.
