Ben and Helen's biggest priority for their May wedding was that it wasn't stressful. "I found being engaged very, very intense. I was the ultimate nervous bride", Helen wrote. "In the end I decided I really just wanted to keep it as simple as possible but still be our perfect day. Our 1950s look evolved naturally and really suited our venue, Stockport Plaza. We loved that the venue didn't need much extra décor too. It really took the pressure off."

A Fun-Filled London Wedding: Sarah & Rueben

Kat

October 25, 2011

Quite apart from the fact that Sarah & Rueben are utterly gorgeous and achingly cool, their wedding is definitely one of those that I wish I was at. The day was simple and perfectly reflected them - they even had Sarah's lips and Rueben's mustache as a recurring theme throughout the details. From the stationary to the jam jars, and from the photo booth props to their wedsite....the mustache 'trend' is always ultimately cooler when the groom rocks a real one too isn't it?!

A Backyard Handfasting & Rock Festival Wedding: Becca & Gary

Kat

September 19, 2011

Bex & Gary’s wedding looks like it was a lot of fun, dispite the rain! The first part of the day was a handfasting ceremony and morning reception in the bride’s Gran’s back garden. Afterwards the couple went to the registry office for the ‘legal bit’ and the day was rounded off by them going to Nozstock Festival and staying in their very own honeymoon suite – a tipi! "We knew straight away that we didn't want a traditional wedding and we both loved the idea of running away together to get married in secret but at the same time we wanted all our friends there too," the bride told me."We'd both been to weddings that felt impersonal and where we'd both felt nervous and out of place so our mission was to try and make the day as chilled out and as comfortable for everyone as possible. Gary came up with idea of going to a festival instead of a wedding reception and it all sort of fell into place."

A Picturesque Scottish Wedding: Fiona & Darren

Kat

September 5, 2011

By the time you read this I will be back from the US of A and probably jet-lagged to the hills! I'll be blogging all about my American Adventures really soon, but in the meantime I've got this beautiful Scottish wedding from CandySnaps Photography to share with you. Fiona & Darren were married at Boturich Castle, Alexandria. They were married outside (which in legal in Scotland) and in front of the impressive castle. The bride wore a beautiful gown and veil handmade for her by a friend and vintage jewellery which had belonged to her Grandparents. The groom wore traditional Scottish kilt, the tartan of which was an Irish pattern (Murphy) which was his Grandmother's family name.

Jess & Rob’s Hip-Nouveau-Country-Handle-Bar-Moustache-Rayban-Sunglasses-with-a-Dash-of-Vintage-Perfection Wedding!

Kat

December 2, 2010

Jess & Rob got married "under a lone tree in a field" in a cermony that was perfectly related to the things that they adore. "They really do live a dreamy life," their photographer's Emmy & Aaron told me. "Jess is a lover of horses and what better life than to run Foxstone Stables at Glenora Farm and also to live right above the stable with 300 acres of Vancouver Island's Cowichan Valley paradise. They even have their own natural spring swimming pond, meadows with lone trees, and gorgeousness everywhere you look!" Needless to say, their home provided the perfect location for the wedding.

Sugar & Spice & All Things Nice – New Wedding Trends for 2011

Kat

November 26, 2010

If there's one thing that makes a wedding blogger's heart go a-flutter, it's lots of lovely details - gorgeous ideas that you, dear reader, can sneakily steal for your own weddings. So, when I was sent this utterly gorgeous rustic/Rock n Roll (who says the two can't merge!?) it took me all of about 30 seconds to say yes to featuring it. Moustache cookies (and shoes!), cute typography, mis-matched bunting, multi coloured florals a-plenty and a cake covered in different coloured bow ties (seriously dying over here.) Oh yes, this blogger certainly approves!

Free Wedding Photography Contest Winners – Jamie & Neil’s DIY, Campfire Wedding

Kat

October 4, 2010

Oh I am EXCITED...like, seriously jump up and down and eat a big cream cake-excited about sharing Jamie & Neil's wedding with you today. Why the extra enthusiasm you ask? Well Jamie & Neil were the lucky couple who won the contest for free wedding photography that I organised alongside the the fabulous Kat Braman back in January (you can see their entry here) The couple got married in style on September 18th at the YMCA's Camp Pendalouanin Holton, MI, a place that holds very special significance for the bride. "The whole wedding weekend from Rehearsal on Friday through Sunday morning took place at the Muskegon YMCA's Camp Pendalouan," Jamie explained to me. "Camp Pendalouan has a special place in my heart as I attended girl scout camp there as a child. The ceremony took place at the scenic Boyden Chapel situated on Big Blue Lake and the reception was held in Nikana Lodge. The evening was concluded by a roaring bonfire that could be "seen from space" at the Council Ring of the Great Bear fire circle. The camp setting was just perfect for us since love outdoor adventures. It also gave us extra time to spend with our guests that were able to spend the night in the bunks!"

Nathan & Marianna’s DIY-Fabulous New York Wedding

Kat

August 30, 2010

Oooh I am so excited about Nathan & Marianna's diy-fabulous New York wedding (although this is doing nothing to quench my desire to sign 2 weeks off and jet off to NYC!) The couple got married at St. Luke's Church and then had their reception at Sea Cliff Yacht Club. "Both are in the small one square mile town (22 miles from NYC) where I grew up in Long Island, NY" Marianna told me. The couple only splurged on the things that really mattered to them - one of them being the band that played their reception "This was probably the best splurge (and only) of the wedding. I highly recommend getting a live band, we had a great fun dancing ALL night long" the bride explained. "I thought we were just going to go the ipod shuffle route, but was convinced that the band makes the party and to have one. It was great advice, and is probably (most definitely) true."

A Spider Ring, A Diamond Skull & Empire State Building Shoes

Kat

July 22, 2010

I think the phrase 'off the hook' was invented for engagement sessions like this. Danielle & Ed have such amazing style! First up her ring is a custom made creation by Greenlake Jewelry Works...and it's a spider! The heart diamond in the ring actually belonged to Danielle's Grandmother. Secondly her shoes are in the design of The Empire State Building (wow!) by Geox and thirdly they have a crystal encrusted skull lamp that they found unadorned in a vintage shop. Danielle & Ed added all the sparkles themselves...I love it. In fact I want one!

The MOST INCREDIBLE Alice in Wonderland Wedding Ever. FACT.

Kat

July 14, 2010

I've seen a lot of Alice in Wonderland shoots and weddings this year but none as fan-bloody-tastic as Jessica & Wade's. The couple said they came up with the Victorian Alice theme on a whim (even before the film came out this year) and decided to run with it. Unbelievably the couple designed and came up with everything for the wedding themselves. This is a wedding I wish I'd be at! I literally don't know where to start when it comes to talking about how awesome this wedding is so I'm just going to make a huge list of all the bits that I love about it.

Retro Art Deco Kitsch

Kat

July 13, 2010

I LOVE a bit of retro kitsch and Caroline & Jim couldn't be more perfect at pulling this off if they tried. The shoot took place in their own Art Deco apartment in Brighton (just check out the exterior shots!) which has been decorated with an eclectic mix of bits and bobs collected from all over and ranging in era from the 1920's right through to the 1970's. I adore everything from the authentic mirror, clocks and Princess Anne collectible mugs to the incredible wallpaper and all the retro furniture. Jim is 'Mr B the Gentleman Rhymer' , a brilliant musician playing all over the country at gigs, weddings, parties and festivals. Caroline has a complete passion for fashion as she works in the fashion industry in London. The pair both embrace everything retro and nostalgic in fashion and styling, so their style was spot on for this style of shoot. The couple both wore all their own clothes to give a completely genuine portrayal of themselves and who they are as a couple.

City Hall & The Seaport

Kat

June 17, 2010

Courtney & Jon got married at New York's City Hall in February with just their baby with them. Afterwards they headed to The Red Lion in Greenwich Village for a few drinks and some photographs. However this month they decided to have a big reception at Bridgewaters by the South Street Seaport to celebrate with all their friends and family. Courtney looks incredible in her modern ruffled dress - in fact so much so that someone stopped them in the street and asked if they were models or if they were actually getting married! The reception looks like it was a lot of fun - fake glasses, moustaches and lips never get tired!

Kat

June 7, 2010

I'm sure you won't be disappointed with this babyin fact I am so in love with this wedding that I appear to have titled this post will the longest, most over-excited, rambling header ever! Violet & Eric are certainly going to being some much needed spice to Rock n Roll Bride today. I had an amazing chat with the super creative bride (who also makes her own Steampunk inspired jewellery - you can see some of her designs here) where she told me all about their wedding.

I've been thinking long and hard about who should be my Sunday Kind of Love victim this week...it's getting increasingly hard as so many of you are so awesome to me!
