A Mountain Top Ceremony for a Modern Art Wedding

Kat

July 8, 2010

Sara & Andy's mountain top wedding took place at Sapphire Point in Breckenridge, Colorado. They kept it intimate with only 50 guests to the wedding and reception, which was held at the Museum of Contemporary art in Denver. As well as keeping their wedding small and personal, the skipped a lot of the traditional fluff - for example instead of a cake they opted for ice cream sandwiches with sprinkles! They also didn't want (or need) to add any extra decor to their ceremony location or their reception venue as the surrounding countryside and the museums art work spoke for itself and complemented their unfussy theme perfectly. "We utilized the beauty of the spaces from the natural mountain top to the contrast of the modern space of the contemporary art museum to make the couples wedding photographs uniquely theirs" photographer Anna told me. "It was nice working with the two seemingly contrasting spaces to create wedding photographs that were cohesive and representative of the couples day, personalities and love for each other." Finally, Sara & Andy chose not to have any bridesmaids or groomsmen.

Winter Warmers & DIY to Die For

Kat

January 30, 2010

This brand spanking new wedding was sent to me by the fabulous Andana Lima. I fell in love with bride's beehive, her faux fur coat and all the DIY projects involved in making their day elegant and personal. The DIY projects behind this wedding included the bouquet made out of black and white fabric, the boutonnieres for the groomsman and mother of the bride, the monograms, the wishbook and all the centerpieces and table decorations. Courtney also added her own beads to underneath her shoes. Thanks to the ever delightful Andana for sharing this weith us. I'm sure you'll agree that it's fabulous indeed Credit: Andana Lima Photography

Snowed In

Kat

December 19, 2009

So I'm sharing some of Kelty's work twice in two days but you'll forgive my repetition after you see these I'm sure. You have to understand, I couldn't hold off posting these until next week or something because England is currently covered in a blanket of snow so sharing these images right now is more than a little bit apt. You know Hannah & Alex. Their wedding rocked your socks off when I posted it in all it's glory back in September. So their anniversary shoot (as in anniversary of when they met up again after not seeing each other for 10 years aww!) covered in snow is just way to perfect not to post. There were strolls in the park, chased first kisses, prosciutto snacks, dog walks, a drive to the desert, and their first of many snowy Christmases in Portland together. The beginning of something wonderful, really. So they've donned their wedding gear and hit the slopes to celebrate their past, present, and future. Happy Anniversary, my loves! Thanks to Kelty, Hannah & Alex for rocking so damn hard. Credit: Steep Street

Married by a Moose

Kat

November 1, 2009

OK what the hell is going on? Is it really November already...what the fudge?! Does this mean I'm going to have to finally admit that Christmas is on it's way? I'm just going to forget about that for a while and get to posting today's awesome weddings and photo sessions...that's a much better idea! A wedding based around a moose? I have to admit I giggled rather a lot when I read the email from photographer Olivia. However the photographs certainly justify the hilarity. Sweet and personal...everything we love!

Wed Like Rockstars

Kat

October 19, 2009

I'm sure many of you have been waiting with baited breath to see these - hell, I know I have been dying to get these out! It's worth the wait though I assure you. Carly & James tied the knot at a winery in Sanger, CA. Her dress was an authentic vintage tutu style dress and feathery veil and James didn't even want to shave on the day - he rocked it though right!? So without further ado...prepare to be blown away by greatness. A Rock n Roll Bride classic if ever I've seen one. Again, thanks to Dani for sharing these...I feel so lucky to be the blog to bring them to you!

Adventure Playground Of Fun

Kat

August 28, 2009

Carrie & Brian got hitched on the snow-capped Mt. Hood at The Timberline Lodge. Carrie's amazing dress, cashmere-and-organza ruffle bolero and hair piece with chenille dot netting, feathers and flowers were all designed by Elizabeth Dye (who I have featured a few times before) an independent clothing designer in Portland, Oregon. Their wedding was a total adventure playground of fun. To get to the venue all guests had to snow cat up steep snow slopes of Mt. Hood in a near white out snow fall. Photographers Shawn & Bonnie went on to tell me more: Beyond that the night was full of quirk and personal style, from their unique toasts that involved in-unison speaking to their wedding vows that were a written haiku read line by line by each person in attendance. Thanks for sharing guys! Credit: Find The Found

Holga Love

Kat

July 28, 2009

I am really feeling the Holga love right now and when I saw these I knew I had to feature them as soon as possible. Shooting a wedding with a toy camera must be a precarious and slightly unnerving job (what if the film doesn't load? what if the photos turn out badly? what if I loose the film? eeek!) but photographer Daniel Krieger appears to have got his skillZ down and pulled this one off seemingly without a hitch. These images are just making me even more excited about getting my very own piece of plastic joy soon..ahh the light, the texture, the soft focus - swoon! Daniela & Chris got married at the ridiculously stunning Mohonk Mountain House. Have you ever seen a location so picturesque? Daniela's beautiful dress is the Fontaine wedding gown from J Crew and she is actually selling it right now on Craigslist. It's a size 4 and you may well be able to snap it up for yourself (if you're quick!) you lucky lucky things. Daniela has also shared a few little tips of her own: Enjoy every minute and roll with it. The quirks of your wedding are what will make the memories that much better. On our day, it was so cold that the ipod playing the bridal march (dum, dum, da dum) froze (literally!) and the audience had to hum the music. Couldn’t have asked for anything better!! Thanks so much to the brilliant Daniel Krieger for the photography, and the couple Daniela & Chris for allowing me to share their day. Credit: Daniel Krieger
