Not all brides want a traditional diamond engagement ring, which is why I love to share companies like Weston Jewelry with you. Vintage or antique engagement rings are particualrly popular with my readers, as are rings with coloured stones such as ruby, emerald or sapphire engagement rings. Weston Fine Estate Jewelry also carry a large selection of cocktail rings as well as men's jewellery. They even offer free wordwide shipping and a full 60 day money back guarantee!

Agony Aunt Anna – Bling for the Bridesmaids

Kat

August 7, 2010

Hello Kat and Anna I'm getting married in October and have two of the loveliest, super helpful bridesmaids (as well as a lovely, super helpful bridesman (has anyone come up with a better term for a male bridesmaid yet?!)) I have been searching all over for a present for the girls (I think the boy is sorted). I would love to get them a necklace or bracelet, but would be open to other ideas. I have been looking all over but nothing has caught my eye yet. I'd like something pretty but not too girly, and fun but not too crazy ironic - does that make sense? I can spend about £50 ($80) per person (but I could be persuaded to go a little higher).

Mad Hatter Rock n Roll Bride ~ Candy Floss, Beach Huts & The Great British Seaside

Kat

July 6, 2010

It's that time of immense excitement for me again, when I finally get to share with you a 'lil project I've been busying myself with behind the scenes. Unbelievably this shoot has been in the pipeline for over a year but it's only now that I've had the time to get it all organised properly! The Photographer I first met Eliza Claire just over a year ago at the very first 'Rock n Roll Bride meet'. We met in a teeny cocktail bar in central London. We drank cosmopolitans and mojitos and talked way into the night about business, photography and changing the face of the UK wedding industry...and look how far we've come in a year! At this first meeting we talked about doing a photo shoot together and would you believe it's actually taken this long to get it together. However, as always, the wait was soworth it as within this past year we've got to know so many more amazing people in the industry, a few of which we asked along to join in the fun. "My thoughts on the shoot were to do something different, bring out the softer side of Rock'nRoll Bride! You've done a gothic shoot and a Punk-rock shoot, I wanted to show your softer, feminine side. Tiffany and I were definitely on the same page when it came to ideas for this, and the Whitstable location really grew from that - getting you out of the city, and wanting beach huts!"

Jewellery Focus Magazine

Kat

May 17, 2010

Do you remember Becky & John and their 'Most Curious Party' wedding that I featured back in January? Well, the lady is not now only a vintage wedding stylist, supplying vintage trinkets, teasets and details other brides and grooms to be (check out her company A Most Curious Party) but she is a brilliant writer. She was tasked with writing a piece on bridal jewellery trends for trade magazine 'Jewellery Focus' and she asked me to help her out. It was of course a pleasure and I'm more than happy after seeing that I've been put alongside gorgeous images of Flo & Percy, Pearls & Swine, Vintage Magpie and Karin Andreasson.

Make Jewellery Magazine – June 2010

Kat

May 7, 2010

For those of you who enjoyed my outing in Sew Magazine two months ago (and I know a bunch of you did - one Rock n Roll Bride in The States even contacted the editor to get a copy shipped over - wow!) should enjoy my next bit of press, this time Make Jewellery Magazine! I was contacted by them soon after the Sew feature came out as they too were running a wedding special and wanted me to help them with ideas, inspiration and to put them in touch with some brides who did it themselves when it came to their wedding day gems. So not only does this magazine feature a little section on yours truly, but it also features past Rock n Roll Bride blogged beauties Rachel, Jennifer, Hannah & Kristi!

A Little Bit of Rock n Roll Magic

Kat

April 21, 2010

I've got another Luella's Boudoir-related post for you now (can to tell I'm excited about tonight?!) Becci & Mark's wedding is a pretty special one, for more reason than one. Not only did the pair find their photographer David McNeil through Rock n Roll Bride, but Becci also found and discovered the amazing vintage jewellery experts, Magpie Vintage. Who wouldn't fall in love with their amazing designs after all!? As a DIY bride (Becci's made her own dress from an original 1930's pattern as well as her flowers and all the decor and details for their wedding) unfortunately the jewellery pieces she fell in love with were slightly out of her price range. However with a little bit of Rock n Roll Bride magic I was able to pull a few strings for her and the lovely ladies at Magpie Vintage were kind enough to lend her the gorgeous headband and necklace you see her wearing! How amazing is that?!

Classic Vintage with a Twist of Awesome

Kat

March 21, 2010

I am really starting to fall head over heels in love with Matt Johnson Photography...and I'm not afraid to admit it! His images are subtle, unobtrusive and captures beautiful weddings with all the justice they deserve. Elodie & Greg's wedding was one I fell in love with as soon as I saw the first frame. Her amazing vintage-inspired outfit, jewellery and so-now white lace gloves make me smile with glee and his rad groom style puts every other groom to shame! The no-jacket/waistcoat look is totally Rock n Roll and looks way-too-cool when matched with his boys in braces. The details of this wedding are to die for - from the birdcages, the white heart motif, the retro 'admissions' sign, the outdoor chandelier. Awesome.

Win ♥ A Little Bit of Love – From Me to You

Kat

March 10, 2010

As you all no doubt will have seen by now, I had a very exciting announcement to make yesterday. After over a year of working 2 jobs I've finally got to the stage where I feel I can cut back on my 'proper job' and put more into Rock n Roll Bride. Anyway, as I said before, none of this would be possible without you. Seriously, without you brides (and grooms!) to be, photographers, bloggers, wedding vendors and wedding / pretty picture obsessives reading, submitting and generally loving my little blog, I'd be nothing and Rock n Roll Bride would be no more. So I wanted to give a little something back - LOVE

Retro Rockabilly vs Vintage Hippy Chic

Kat

March 2, 2010

For Jessica's trash the dress, she wanted to go for two different looks. So along side her husband Randy and her photographer Lori she got kitted out twice to create some images she'd always remember. First up was a retro rockabilly style urban session full of graffiti shots and stark architecture completed with her kick ass attitude and fashion including necklaces by Anna Sheffield for Target, the Je t'aime two finger ring (which I adore!) by Erica Anenberg and heels by Steve Madden. F0llowing this a much softer, more earthy style was required, so they all headed out to a local woodland with a gorgeous green chair and had a play around. For this style she wore vintage necklaces and a vintage coat, boots by MIA and a pink disc necklace by Dominique Cohen. Her dress in both sessions was from David's Bridal.

The Designer Wedding Show February 2010 ♥ Highlights

Kat

February 16, 2010

few weeks ago I was offered a couple of tickets to attend The Designer Wedding show in Battersea, London. The event took place from last Friday - Sunday so my friend (and photographer extraordinaire) David McNeil and I thought we'd go check it out in the hope to be inspired, have fun and to actually real-life-meet some of the amazing UK wedding vendors that we've met online. Today I want to share a few of my highlights and photographs from the event so you can see what fun we had. I definitely did and I even got to meet a bunch of Rock n Roll Bride readers. It was the first event I've been to where I actually got recognised which was surreal but certainly nice! Here are some of my (and David's) faves. ♥ Magpie Vintage undoubtedly had one of the busiest stalls of the day. I've wanted to meet Lisa & Tania for ages now and The Designer Wedding show proved to be the perfect opportunity. I wondered up to their stand hoping they'd spot the pink hair and know it was me and as soon as I was within 20 feet I was greeted by Lisa with a massive hug and an "oh my god you look so young!" (haha way to suck up Lisa - you go girl!) and " oh you simply must wear this necklace!" She the proceeded to drape a beautiful powder pink and teal green reclaimed vintage gem around my neck which I was lucky enough to walk around with all day (and yes I did remember to return it after!) ♥ Abbey of Sugalily Stationary and I have been chatting online for months now so it was great to finally meet her in real life. I fell in love with not only her but with her beautiful creations in paper, ribbon and sparkly bits. From retro to classic, colourful to muted, Abbey's display was one of the most indearing there..and she had cupcakes! Now who could say no to that!? ♥ Myself and David had waaaay too much fun at the Booth Nation/Glitterbooth. As we walked past I was instantly drawn to the 8 foot, silver glitter-covered photo booth. We were greeted by Seamus who immediately told us to hop in and give it a go, and inside only a bloomin' built in wind machine (you can see we had fun with that!) I swear to god, if I was getting married again I would totally have one of these. Awesome!

Carnival Crazy

Kat

February 7, 2010

Dina & Gary's 1920's vaudeville carnival themed wedding makes me wanna squeal. I wish wish wish we'd done something as fabulous as this when we got hitched. The wedding took place at Asbury Park, New Jersey and the pair really went to town with their theme - from popcorn and candy for the guests, a sideshow performance, goldfish in bowls... in fact everything you might expect to find at a carnival! Dina wore a custom dress (made by a friend) and wore jewellery and carried a candy bouquet made by another friend Melissa Heid. Just. Wow. Thanks to Brandi for sharing this awesome day with us. Woooo!

The Vintage Empire

Kat

January 14, 2010

This stunning vintage styled fashion shoot was inspired by the work of jewellery designer Adrienne Mineiro of The Vintage Empire. Not only did she design and make the beautiful pieces used in this shoot but she modelled them too! The pink dress and pink petticoat were genuine vintage finds and the blue dress and boots were from Junkee Clothing Exchange in Reno, Nevada. Thanks to Courtney for sharing this beautiful shoot, and bringing Adrienne's fabulous work to our attention

Glorious Springtime Vintage Styles

Kat

December 28, 2009

You went totally nuts over the 'And so we Danced' photo shoot I shared from Elevenorchids Photography last week so it is my absolute pleasure to share some more of their work with you today. This glorious shoot was set up for Michestyle, a young designer who loves to celebrate vintage styles and lines by adding a modern feel to them. She takes pride in every detail and was on set to style and do the makeup, hair and to guide the model through the entire process. Thanks again to the awesome Annie & Benjamin for sharing their work with us. We love it!

Hollywood Rock

Kat

December 18, 2009

Megan & Marcelo met at a punk rock bar in Hollywood... so naturally their wedding would have elements of rock too. The day took place at the ube cool Marvimon in LA with the beautiful flowers being put together by Holly Flora. The bride wore a short hip wedding dress by Amsale and shoes by Gwen Stafani's label, L.A.M.B. The groom looked similarly hot to rock in his skull themed accessories. All the music was hand picked and complimented by the couple's favourite videos projected all night behind the dance floor. It felt like The Rolling Stones, Bowie, Devo, Love and Rockets and Nick Cave all attended the bash as well! The guests kept saying was that this wedding was just soooo Megan & Marcelo...and that is one the best compliments a couple can get. Thanks to Suthi for sharing this funky, Rock n Roll wedding with us today!

Vintage. Quirky. Eco. Gorgeous.

Kat

November 17, 2009

Who couldn't love the quirky, vintage, rustic, eco wedding of Amanda & Matt? I am particularly gaga about the wheat bouquet and boutonnieres and Amanda's beautiful cameo bracelet. The pair wed at theirhome in the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia. They rented a tentand despite the torrential downpour most of the day, things worked out really well in there. Friend and caterer, Nikki Kleinberg, catered the wedding using mostly foods grown in the urban farm Amanda and Matt maintain adjacent to their backyard. These two are super into self sustaining, eco-friendly means to living in the city. Amanda made her own flowers and centerpieces and friends played the music for the wedding ceremony plus they even dj-ed their own reception. Thanks to Carina & Amanda of Love Me Do Photography for giving Rock n Roll Bride the exclusive first showing of this awesome wedding.
