Arguably the most important part of your wedding day, but one that is so often overlooked until the last minute of your planning, the ceremony is the area I wanted to add some advice to this week. Enjoy! Emma Smyth If your bridesmaids are going to walk in first make sure they give each other a second before the next so the photographer can get a clear shot of each one! Then Brides.. give yourself time too! It's your moment!

Post-It Notes – 30th September 2011: Transport & Remembering to Breathe

Kat

September 30, 2011

Arriving in style is easier than ever these days, with some great companies around offering unique wedding day transport ideas. If the traditional horse and carriage or vintage Bentley isn't your style then there's no need to fret! "Dear twitter & facebook," I asked this week, "What advice would you offer to a Rock n Roll couple struggling with the idea of how to get to their wedding...?"

Post It Notes – 16th September 2011 – Entertainment & Praise

Kat

I often get emails from brides (and a lot of the time grooms) asking for recommendations or advice on wedding entertainment/bands/DJ's etc. Now shameful admission time - despite being called the Rock n Roll Bride my taste in music is appalling. It's not cool* and it's certainly not worthy of advice-giving. So again, I've turned to twitter and facebook to help me out of this sticky spot. If you have any extra tips you'd like to add to this list, simply comment below!

Post It Notes – 9th September 2011 – Inspiration & Influence

Kat

September 9, 2011

Today's business and wedding note kinda have the same basic message and I think they are both actually pretty interchangeable - i.e. applicable to both wedding planning and running your own business. I'd love to know what you think in the comments below...even if it's to tell me I'm off my head... FYI I also totally stole/was inspired to think of these ideas from Noa of Feather Love Photography, who's workshop I attended this week. She rules. More on this on the blog soon.

Post It Notes – 19th August 2011 – Finding the One & Productivity

...and by 'the one' I mean the dress (sorry fellas!) But let's be honest, as soon as girls get engaged the first thing we think about is the dress! Finally we're allowed to buy wedding magazines and look a wedding dresses online without being...well...a little bit weird. My top tip when it comes to searching for your dress is to be open minded. Yes, everyone will have an idea in their head of what they wants their wedding dress to be like but until you actually try them on, you never really can tell what your're going to like the most...and I do think every bride-to-be should try on a massive meringue, even if it's just to have a laugh!

Wedding Fashion for Plus Sized Brides

Kat

July 27, 2011

Hi Kat, My name is Sara and I just found your website. Wow I was so relieved I wasn't the only one who hated the idea of a cookie cutter poofy foofy wedding! Amazing site! I have always dreamed of a 50's style tea length wedding dress. I found one I love on unique vintage thanks to you, but here's my problem. I'm plus sized. Like say a size 26 plus sized. I've been really ill for the last year and between taking care of my Mom (she had a stroke on my sixteenth birthday) and my illness, weight loss has been on the back burner. I'm set to be married November 5th of this year. I'm on a tight budget, but I just can't stand the idea of not having a wedding dress. Please please help me find one!

Post It Notes – 15th July 2011: Sticking to your Guns & Defying Conventions

July 15, 2011

Wedding Note A few tips I gathered from my twitter followers this week... @PeteSmyth "My tip would be to stick to your guns. Do it your way, not your parents way." @INHousewifey "The best wedding planning tip I learned (too late!) was if you can't find something you like...make it yourself...don't settle!" @levansphoto "My tip is for all husbands-to-be ... as much as we appreciate "whatever you want is fine by me" 99% of the time occasionally we appreciate your input!"

How to…Dress as a Wedding Photographer

Kat

July 9, 2011

After such a great response to last weekend's post about How to Dress as a Wedding Guest, I got thinking about how I could expand this mini-series. I had a few photographers in the comments asking if I had any tips of how they should dress to shoot weddings. Now clearly I'm not a wedding photographer myself so I thought instead of trying to guess my way through answering this question, I'd ask some of my favourite photographers to share an outfit they might typically wear to shoot a wedding.

Post It Notes – 8th July 2011: Getting Carried Away & Happiness

Kat

July 8, 2011

It's very easy to get carried away when you first start planning your wedding. This is a fast track way to quickly spend lots of money on the 'pretty things' that you might not even end up using (I think I bought about 5 pairs of wedding shoes...) Wedding planner Josie of Savoir Weddings agrees, "Get the major planning elements underway before you start thinking about styling and decoration. You can get excited and look for inspiration as soon as you want but the key parts of a wedding - the venue for instance, can have a huge impact on the way you style it so take your time before you start deciding how you want it all to look."

How to…Dress as a Wedding Guest

Kat

July 2, 2011

I think they key thing is to dress appropriately to the theme of the day and usually this can be determined by how and where the ceremony is taking place -ie a church wedding might mean the wedding could be a more of a traditional affair so maybe you should tone down your inner goth. I think if you know the couple well it's easy enough to ask what the dress code might be, but just in case you're off to the wedding of your second cousin twice removed, I hope some of my recent finds can give you a few new ideas...
