I was forwarded Danielle & Jerry's wedding by the lovely Amanda of Vintage Glam. I saw it and I loved it. I also discovered their rocking engagement session so I had to feature these first. Danielle's cute little hair bow, their awesome tattoos (do I sound like a broken record sometimes?) and the almost spooky fun fair location - I love it all. Stand by for the wedding, complete with a Groomsman with a mohawk and a Bride in a black wedding dress.

Abbey Ruins – Part One

Woo! I have been dying to share the results from my photo shoot with Chanelle & Craig Segerius-Bruce so much so that I don't even have the full set yet so I'm going to do it in two parts. I met Chanelle for Sushi a while a go and we got a-chatting about doing a shoot together. We knew we wanted to come up with an idea that wasn't 'overdone' (even non brides-to-be worry about doing the same as everybody else...maybe I should read this article I wrote!?) Anyway, we came up with an idea revolving around an old castle and black...lots of black. This little inkling of an idea then evolved into shoot you see below. Despite buying a black dress from Ebay for the shoot, when it came to the crunch it just didn't look right so we went back on the old faithful, my Maggie Sottero wedding dress. I made the black veil myself out of some black tulle, a hair slide and lots of glue(!) and also broughtalong some various other colours of tulle which ended up coming in very handy (yes that is me splayed across a big rock and no it wasn't comfortable..or glamorous!) We trekked our arses all the way down to the Abbey Ruins in Reading town centre but when we got there it was all gated off with warning signs for potential falling rocks. Oh noooo! So what's a Rock n Roll Bride and photographer(s) to do? Hell break in and do the shoot anyway of course! Chanelle & Craig were fantaaaastic and played around with a new technique called 'painting with light'. I had to stand very still in one position for a number of shots while one of them moved around me flashing a flash for in different areas to highlight various area. I think you can see the results are pretty darn spectatorand give the images a real high fashion, edgy look. Chanelle is also an amazing re-toucher and has worked for no less than Mario Testino (oh yes!) so I knew me and my far from perfect skin were in good hands. Filipino photographer Jeffroger Kho sent me these stunning engagements which perfectly reflect his 'wild, crazy, and downright addictive' style. These are kinda spooky and dark but I seriously love them (yes even the creepy doll) Check it out... The client Mark and Johanna are photographers and very artistic individuals. You can check out their site here as well Happy Garaje Graphic Design and Illustration. Their style is really dark, desaturated, and textured. And I am happy that I was able to capture that and also reflect the clients style. The outfits are from the clients own wardrobe. They pretty much have everything already. They collect a lot of old stuff as well so it quite reflects much of their personality. I believe that this set is very Rock n Roll because it's different, downright crazy, non-conventional, and most importantly it reflects much of the personality of the client and not just a random theme just for the sake of having a theme. A scholoristic wedding with a Best Girl rocking it in a top hat is something to be shared. Sharon & Dan definitely went all out to make sure their wedding was truly original, even so far has having the one of a kind 1925 Studebakeras their wedding transport. They also had a theologian conduct their ceremony which was written with the work of Lord Byron, William Morris and Walt Whitma in mind.
