I’ve watched Say Yes to The Dress with my mum for years, so when the first big COVID lockdown ended and all the bridal boutiques were only allowing one or two people to accompany the bride, I felt fine about not taking a big entourage. More often than not, a big group can end in tears, and not the I-just-found-my-dream-dress kind! My auntie is a keen dressmaker, and generously gifted me a budget for my wedding dress, so I went with her and my mum.

Julie and Peter's October 31st wedding was held at a park, local to their home. They used the park's nature centre (which is actually where they first met. The the bride was was giving a talk about the black market wildlife trade in Southeast Asia) to host their food and drinks, but the majority of the day was outside. Their wedding date was also four years to the day of their first official date.

They wanted their New Orleans wedding to be a celebration of their love that wasn’t bound up in ideas about gender or consumerism. Quinn, who married Natan’s in February, wore a stunning Scotch and Soda suit instead of anything traditionally bridal. They also didn't have a bridal party, their low key ceremony was in a park and they ended the day with an intimate gathering in one of their favourite restaurants.
