Gema and Matt's original wedding was June 7th, on their five year anniversary, for which they'd planned to wed in New York City, honeymoon in Kuala Lumpur and Bali and then have a big pub reception back home afterwards. It was due to cost them £25k but when Covid scrapped those plans they took the opportunity to re-evaluate everything. Although they still plan to have another big wedding next year, they really didn't want to have to wait a whole year to be legally husband and wife.

Many of their early dates were doing something adventurous - from hiking to snowshoeing - so, when the decided to marry in August, having an outdoor adventure elopement was the prefect choice. They decided on an early morning hike, with their kids in tow, culminating with a mountaintop elopement as the sun rose.

This April wedding was a strong female-led affair with both brides being walked down the aisle by their mothers and the cake and flowers being made by Carleigh's. She even surprised them by putting pictures of some of their favourite people on the bouquets - those that had either passed away and were unable to attend their special day. "Carleigh’s bouquet had a photo of her dad, and Sara’s bouquet had a photo of her grandmothers who raised her", they explained.

They were always going to elope and luckily, even though a lockdown was imminent, Jodi and Terry were still able to go ahead with their intimate March wedding. They'd booked into have their quicky ceremony at Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago (which was free!) and a friend, who got ordained especially for the event, hosted the proceedings. They had no guests at the ceremony, which was always their plan. They really didn't want a big wedding or any fuss. The idea was for it to just feel like a fancy day out.
