James and Lillian first met as members of a body modification website. After three years of chatting on MSN messenger (how all the best relationships are formed, of course) they finally met in person and became a couple after attending the wedding of a mutual friend. Many years and two children later, they decided to get hitched themselves, wanting a very laid back, chilled vibe for their day that didn’t cost the earth.

They chose a local village hall for their September wedding. This not only meant Bronia and Joe had a lovely blank canvas to decorate however they liked, but it was a really affordable option (£500 to have it from Friday morning to Sunday!) The groom wanted a really big wedding, but the bride wanted to elope, in the end they met in the middle (ahhh, the secret to a happy marriage right?!) and had something medium sized but relaxed and informal.

Liam and Tara’s September wedding was inspired one thing; their journey together. Meeting at 17 and being each other’s first loves, they’ve had a rocky road to get to where they now are and so wanted to celebrate not only the things that they like together, but also as individuals. This translated as a fun, geeky mismatch of inspirations; comic books, unicorns, Disney, Alice in Wonderland… the list goes on!

Ashleigh and Ric decided early on in their engagement what they didn’t want for their wedding day; “We knew from the get-go that we didn’t want to do many traditional things,” explained Ashleigh. “I didn’t wear the white dress, get married in a church, have 350 guests or to worry about chair covers. I think because we have our own house, we just couldn’t justify spending £20,000 on a wedding, which seems to be the norm in Northern Ireland!”

WOW. OK prepare yourself, because this is a wedding you are going to pay attention for. Burners Yoshi and Gilles chose their favourite place in the world to say their vows - Burning Man! In total they spent just $2000 on the day (not including their tickets because they knew they'd already be going). Apart from their outfits (which the bride made) their photographer, some champers and a homemade cake, they really didn't bother with anything else!

Zara and Alex didn't want a big fancy wedding, so they decided to just have an intimate legal ceremony with a few witnesses and their baby daughter present. Following this was a pit stop at the groom's tattoo shop for some matching ink, and from the bride's point of view they were done. However, the groom had other ideas though, and he secretly planned a big garden party for all their loved ones in his mum's back garden

Josh and Shandre weren’t afraid of being a little kitsch and over-the-top with their wedding theme. They wanted to tie together a movie theme, with Halloween, while keeping a very home-y atmosphere. They asked their family and friends to dress up as their favourite movie or Halloween character so it felt less like a traditional wedding and more like a house party celebration, which is exactly what they achieved!
