Post-It Notes – 18th November 2011: Just How Much is This Wedding Going to Cost Us?

Kat

November 18, 2011

I've been wanting to put this post together for some time to give you an idea of what you might expect to pay for certain areas of your wedding. Now before I get you all hating on me, saying "But we can't afford to spend XYZ on my dress/our photos/the food" I want to make it clear that I'm certainly not writing this to show you what you should be spending. No no no, I want this post to give you a basic idea of what you might get initially quoted to save you from the mini-heart attack I had when I first realised how much wedding dresses were.

A DIY Cornish Wedding: Angie & Jack

Kat

November 15, 2011

Angie & Jack's Cornish Wedding was a wedding of three parts - with the ceremony at Devoran Parish Church, drinks and afternoon snacks at Devoran Village Quay and finally the main reception, with dinner and dancing, at Devoran Village Hall. "We didn't stick to the standard 'wedding rules' and just wanted our wedding to be fun and to show our personalities," the bride told me. "We wanted everything to be as unique and as personal without spending a fortune."

A Footloose Meets Vintage Romance Wedding: Jessie & Mark

Kat

November 2, 2011

You might mistakenly think that Jessie & Mark's wedding is a little on the pretty and elegant side for me, but you'd be wrong. On the odd occasion (in between all the tattooed chicks and badassery) I do like to swoon over a genuinely beautiful wedding like this one. The outdoor ceremony wedding and rustic barn reception were held at Fischer Hall, Texas. The bride wore a Priscilla of Boston gown which she found on preownedweddingdresses.com and real flowers in her hair.

A Fun-Filled London Wedding: Sarah & Rueben

Kat

October 25, 2011

Quite apart from the fact that Sarah & Rueben are utterly gorgeous and achingly cool, their wedding is definitely one of those that I wish I was at. The day was simple and perfectly reflected them - they even had Sarah's lips and Rueben's mustache as a recurring theme throughout the details. From the stationary to the jam jars, and from the photo booth props to their wedsite....the mustache 'trend' is always ultimately cooler when the groom rocks a real one too isn't it?!

A Quirky Afternoon Tea & Library Themed Wedding: Ney & Phil

Kat

October 20, 2011

Ney & Phil's DIY wedding was loosely based around the theme of a books and libraries. "We wanted a literary theme and thought using vintage books as invites would be a lovely idea," Ney told me. "We met at University studying English Literature and just love books, in particular old Penguin classics. We found some companies that can make them for you, but they’re expensive so we decided to do them ourselves."

A Patriotic Red, White & Blue Wedding: Julia & James

Kat

October 20, 2011

Julia & James had a handmade and patriotic Great British theme for their September wedding - red, white & blue. "I knew from the moment we started to plan the wedding that I wanted it to be DIY," the bride told me, "and to be able to keep all the aspects to decorate our home. We had so many great comments on the day from the registrar and venue that they had never seen a wedding like ours before. I am a avid follower of Rock n Roll Bride, Ruffled blog & Green Wedding Shoes so I scrapbooked a lot of ideas from them all over the past 2 years!"

A Homespun, Backyard Wedding: Emma & Nigel

Kat

October 13, 2011

The garden wedding of Emma & Nigel was held at the groom's parents house in Brisbane. Emma explained, "The wedding was a mammoth team effort for about a week before the big day with people flying in from all over the place, gardening, weeding, cooking, shaving, marking and reporting (I'm a teacher getting married the day after the school term finished!) Somehow I still managed to sneak in a quiet moment with my bridesmaids to watch Dirty Dancing the night before and eat copious amounts of fish and chips and marshmallows.

“Punk Rock is in Your Soul” – A DIY City Hall Wedding….and a Bride in PINK: Lenore & Ryan

Kat

October 12, 2011

I don't say this lightly, but Lenore & Ryan's wedding may be my wedding of the year! I simply love everything about it - from the bride's incredible pink ensemble, to the family-central cuteness of the whole thing. I've also realised that I definitely need to add some more giant bows to all my outfits. I don't know about you but I kinda want to live in this wedding...

A Simple Brighton Wedding: Holly & Patrick

Kat

October 4, 2011

Holly & Patrick were married in Brighton. They didn't really stick to a particular theme for their wedding, they simply included things they love. They wanted to keep the day simple and stress-free, as the bride explains, "We didn't have a theme, and we didn't say anything had to be a certain way. My dress was handmade on me, through chatting, drawings and ideas, by my friend Aimee who trained at London College of Fashion. Patrick chose his suit because he was definite that he wanted a 'mod' suit. It was all done very organically, and it was perfect. Somebody suggested I wear a long sleeve, high necked dress to cover my tattoo but I declined the suggestion and went for as low a back as possible."
