Bohemian Chic & Floral Overload: Brink & Meagan

Kat

December 3, 2012

Brink & Meagan's South African wedding is a gorgeous mix of floral overload and bohemian chic. I mean, what's not to love?! I'm just dying over the location, the details and the bride's awesome style. Orange flowers in her hair and a lace wedding dress that dreams are made of? Oh God yes. "Our wedding was a reflection of all the things we love", began Meagan. "So to make the day as real as possible we brought elements of our life into it. I didn't want a predictable 'white' wedding. The things I love most in life are colour, texture, pattern, fabric and flowers - anything tactile. So the more colour the better. I love combining things together that contrast so combining colour and texture worked really well!"

Surprise Pool Party Wedding Recreation

Kat

November 19, 2012

Oh I love a surprise wedding! And a surprise wedding + pool party!? EPIC! But this wasn't actually a real wedding (sad face) although it was set up as a recreation of the actual wedding of some friends of the photographer who were married 30 years ago. Jessie & Kenny had this actual wedding, in this exact same spot in 1982 (some of their wedding photos are at the end of the gallery - how amazing are they?!) So to celebrate, and to have an their anniversary party with a difference, they decided to relive the whole thing. This is a styled shoot with a difference and, yes, they really had the big party afterwards!

A Bohemian Wedding with a Travel Theme: Ariane & Jonathan

Kat

July 16, 2012

Filipino born Ariane & Jonathan now live in New Zealand, which is where they chose to have their May wedding. The 3pm ceremony was held at in the vineyard of the Ascension Wine Estate in Matakana. "We wanted to showcase how New Zealand is part paradise and part home with our wedding, Ariane told me. "Marrying in a vineyard in the dead of autumn, what could be more gorgeous than that? Ascension Wine Estate was the perfect backdrop for us. The theme was a mish-mash of our passion for travel, photography, literature and the French countryside. We didn't really set something in stone, but in the end, the travel-bohemian theme dominated, with hints of shabby chic and vintage."

A Boho & Rock n Roll Fusion Wedding: Ioan & Anona

Kat

June 18, 2012

The Welsh wedding of Ioan & Anona was planned with everyone in mind - themselves, their friends and their families. It was important to them that their wedding would be an enjoyable day for everyone in attendance. "On one hand we wanted quite a traditional wedding that would keep the parents happy but also one that both our friends and ourselves would feel bore our own individual stamp," the groom told me. "I play guitar in a hardcore punk / rock band and am obsessed with old 70s riff heavy rock and classic album art so I was really keen to ramp up those kind of aesthetics. Anona’s mother was quite keen on a 'spring flower' theme and whilst initially I worried those two influences would clash spectacularly I think in the end it all came together and balanced each other nicely."

A Tropical Paradise, Bohemian Wedding: Linda & Tyler

Kat

May 10, 2012

Linda & Tyler's wedding makes me yearn for long lazy summer nights and scorching beaches. I could drink up this wedding and be satisfied for days...And with the event taking place at a venue called Paradise Gardens, is it any wonder? "Our wedding day was a wonderful accumulation of memories that we will embrace forever," Linda told me. "We’re beyond grateful for the love we have for one another and the natural way it shone through onthat day. I feel that every aspect of the wedding screamed us - from the lotus field, to the sounds of Devendra Banhart wailing, to the venue bathed in tea land gold! Our venue was amazing and we were ecstatic to have found this exotic little gem tucked away in the hills of Oceanside."

A Bohemian Hoedown Wedding: Reenie & Edwin

Kat

January 23, 2012

As soon as I saw bride Reenie in that incredible floppy hat I knew I had to feature her wedding. I love seeing brides that make really unique styling choices and I don't know about you but I can remember ever seeing a bride in a hat like this before. With her fabulous head wear she wore a 1970s style dress, which was the very first thing she bought, from Nataya for just $199! The October wedding was held at Hampton Hall Farm, Jefferson City, TN and their laid back hippy vibe makes me wish I was there. I love how homely and cosy it all looks and that the whole family got involved. The photos of them all having a pre-ceremony sing-along on the porch are just the best!

A Bohemian Engagement with Hand Drawn Illustrations: Mark & Jolina

Kat

December 19, 2011

I have a beautiful two-parter for you this afternoon, both the engagement shoot and wedding of Mark & Jolina. When I saw this shoot by MangoRed, who hail from The Philippines, I knew I had to blog it. I love the mix of mediums between the photography and illustrations. It's something I've never seen before and it creates a really different and beautiful storytelling result don't you think? MangoRed worked with RabbitHole Creatives to create this shoot, as they explained, "We have been working with MangoRed for a long time now and our collaborations have proved our good creative rapport. The exchange of ideas are both orgasmic and highly productive. RabbitHole's concepts are captured in a very special light by MangoRed. You can see the attention to detail and the desire to capture the mood of every concept."

A Relaxed, Boho Wedding: Laura & Graeme

Kat

August 26, 2011

Laura & Graeme were married at Marle Place, Brenchley which perfectly suited their laid-back boho wedding. "It is a peaceful, privately owned Wealden garden, ten acres of formal planting and many more acres of woodland and orchard," Laura explained. "None of our guests had ever heard of or been to Marle Place, before and neither had we. I didn't find it on my original wedding venue searches, eventually I found it by searching for something like 'secret garden'. It has been described as a hidden gem and I totally agree."

A Vintage Masterpiece

Kat

June 29, 2009

If Ginny & Ed's vintage wedding isn't featured on every wedding blog out there I will eat my..well, hat. Does photographer Josh Goleman get the best clients or what?! Remember these guys for example? Yep...amazing! Although my automatic reaction is usually to be against the idea of asking guests to dress as per the theme of your wedding, I have to admit the effect of everyone vintaged-up together is phenomonal to say the least. I am literally dying of excitement to share these!

Utterly Sweet Weddings

Kat

June 24, 2009

I have a couple of gorgeous sets from Sweet Monday Photography to share with you today, starting with the stunning, rustic wedding of Naama & Greg. What drew me to this wedding straight away was Naama's beautifully simple and cute dress but what kept me going through all the photographs was all the gorgeous little details they put into their day. The couple were married at Heritage Square Museum in Los Angeles and Neema got her dress from Ebay, oh yes! It was a real family affair with all the flowers coming from her Mum's garden and her sister Melissa makingall the stationary. The couple also put all the favours and table numbers together themselves. The result is a completely gorgeous DIY soiree!
