Sana & Derek were married on an island. Artscape Gibraltar Point is located in the former Toronto Island Public and offers 35,000 square feet of affordable retreat space, artist studios and accommodations for artists and creative thinkers. The tranquil and idyllic setting was perfect for their intimate and artistic wedding. The day started with the entire wedding party taking the ferry over to the island together. "We knew immediately that we wanted to hold the wedding on the island - it's the perfect escape from Toronto, and a place where we have spent countless summer days swimming, biking and hanging out on the beach," wrote Sana. With just $6500 to spend, Monica & Jason knew they wanted a small wedding. So instead of the going down the traditional route, they flew themselves and their daughter to Maui for an intimate beach wedding. "We didn't have an actual budget in mind", Monica began. "My parents gifted us $5000 to put towards our wedding and we spent a bit ourselves too. In total the wedding was around $6500, which doesn't include our rings. What it did include was everything needed for the wedding plus return airfare from Vancouver BC for three of us, lodging in Maui and car rental. As a colour fiend (and unapologetically so) its unusual for me to fall head over heels with such a neutrally coloured wedding. But as soon as I laid eyes on Timothy & Sherra's intimate ocean view ceremony and dramatic portraits on the beach I knew I had to blog it. It's unusual for me to split a wedding feature into two parts, but as Sarah & Doug had a two day wedding celebration with each event styled very differently, I felt it was quite appropriate. The first part of the wedding took place on Friday 15th June where they had their legal ceremony surrounded by just a few close family and friends on the beautiful Lusty Glaze Beach in Newquay. Lusty Glaze is a gorgeous secluded horseshoe cove surrounded by 135 foot cliffs - perfect for their intimate ceremony.Read more...

The retro wedding of Nat & Sam is perfect... literally perfect. I just know you're going to go nuts for Nat's nostalgic bridal style, their ocean view ceremony and the reception that looks like it stepped right out of the past. "Our ceremony was at Burrows Park Headland, Sydney", explained Nat. "The ceremony spot was a beautiful cliff edge looking over the Pacific Ocean and located right next to the Bowling Club where we had the reception. We loved that the only way to get to it was via a very long, natural aisle sheltered on one side by trees, which we decorated with Chinese lanterns. For our reception we chose Clovelly Bowling Club. It was cheap as chips to hire, the drinks prices stuck in the 1980s, and the tacky bright blue carpet and a strange old picture of the Queen flanked by two Aussie flags above a stage which houses an ancient piano (which we tuned up and used!) were AWESOME! Jo & Rob were married at The Gallivant Hotel, an eclectic, shabby chic coastal hideaway. Once a former retro motel on the edge of Camber, the hotel is located right opposite the sand dunes and beach of Camber Sands - what a perfect and idyllic spot to get married! Nellie & Matt planned their Whistable wedding in just three short weeks. They wanted something small, something personal and something relaxed. They found the amazing Beacon House, right on the beach, for their ceremony and were able to use the back garden of the bride's brother's holiday cottage for the reception. Choosing St Ives, Cornwall as the location, what could be more apt than a seaside themed wedding?! "We met at journalism school in London in 1999 and were friends for five years before we eventually got together," began Suzy. "Even though we live in London (and I'm from Oxford), we never discussed getting married anywhere but St Ives. It's the place my dad's been to on holiday ever year since he was a baby - so the place I've been to on holiday every year too. When wedding photographer Sassy of Assassynation told me she'd booked a wedding through a feature on my site last year I was super thrilled. However my excitement was pretty much quadrupled when she them told me the bride was wearing a short dress... with a rainbow petticoat... with glittery turquoise leopard print wedges and ankle socks... oh yes and that they were getting married in a cave. I think died and went to wedding heaven right about then. Caroline & Johnny were married on a Monday, on the 14th May this year. The ceremony was small - just the two of them, the celebrant and Sassy and her husband Ian, who not only photographed the event but acted as witnesses. The ceremony was at Carnglaze Caverns in Cornwall. "One fabulously weather proof venue!" the bride laughed. "Subterranean lake, 500 candles and really dangerous steps for the clumsiest bride. Is there anything cooler than a pirate wedding? I was pretty hard pushed to think of anything...that was until I saw Lou & Jürgen's pirate wedding with a rock gig themed after party! OH YES. The pirate themed ceremony was held on a beach in Malibu, CA. Sinead & Dan were married in Whitstable at Beacon House, with a reception afterwards at the groom's parent's house. The great thing about Beacon House is that it's one of the only wedding venues in the UK that's licensed for an almost outdoor wedding, on the porch of the house, overlooking the beach. However it's a small venue, hence why like a lot of couples Sinead & Dan moved to another venue for their reception.Read more...
