Backyard

Orange.

Kat

August 31, 2009

Rachel & Geordie are a little bit too gorgeous to keep to myself and the orange motif that runs throughout the images - from her shoes and flowers to the Mini (bought by Rachel's Mother a week before the wedding!) and the JCB (!) - is just too damn awesome. The wedding took place in Rachel's parents' back yard and really had the stylish vintage vibe going on. Rachel's stunning 1920's inspired dress was custom made by her good friend (and clothing designer) Mireille Stettler and Geordie complimented her perfectly with his casual look. Thanks to the gorgeous and super talented Brittany for sending me these! Credit: Brittany Esther Photography

Quirky, Colourful, Kitsch

Kat

I am crazy in love with Tanya & Mark's amazingly colourful DIY wedding! The event took place in Tanya's parent's backyard in Northampton, PA and totally reflected the couple's quirky, colourful, kitschy nature. They really put 100% of themselves into the day. Tanya made the invitations, the felt flowers, the centrepieces and most of the decorations herself and all of the tables were covered with unique vintage fabric sourced from various places throughout the wedding planning. One of my favourite details had got to be the pink flamingos everywhere though! Tanya says she has a slight obsession with John Waters so this detail was a must! Tanya found her and her Bridesmaid's dress from Ebay and her amazing red birdcage veil from Events and Occasions. Her shoes were from Modcloth and her red petticoat was found at Unique Vintage. Thanks to Tanya and Mark for sharing their day and all the gorgeous details with us! Credit: Matt Stanley

God Only Knows What I’d Be Without You

"Good morning, starshine... the earth says hello!" Boy am I one crazy blogger - got to bed at 3am last night and at 8.30 this morning I am raring to go again. Sleep? What's that? Prepare for another day of wowing by the way... Lets get going with this simple yet beautiful backyard wedding, given a little bit of a retro feel with Danielle's stunning dress which was made by Siri and Wade's suit which was from Banana Republic. Photographer Carey, loved telling me about this wedding: When Danielle came out to the Beach Boy's "God Only Knows', you knew it was going to be a great night. It was out at Wade's family farm (just outside of Regina, Saskatchewan), and was just a really relaxed fun day. There wasn't too much of a theme, but the little pieces added gave it a really comfy feeling. The food was bbq'd, little homemade Canadian honey was given to the guests, there was music and dancing all night, fireworks, a firepit with smores and weiner roasting, and people camping to stay the night. Thanks to Carey for sharing the love...

Classic, Simple, Beautiful

You may have seen a few a snippets of this wedding gorgeousness on a number of other blogs, however I've gotta go that one step further and get you the full scoop on the wedding behind these glorious images. Katie & Nathan's wedding took place in the Groom's parent's back garden. They decided on a simple yet stunning green and white theme which was perfectly reflected in their surroundings. Katie's dress was a vintage find and Nathan wore a suit from Zara. Unconventionally the couple had their reception they day before their ceremony. They decided they would rather have a full day to perfectly engross themselves in their temple wedding without feeling at all distracted by the craziness of a reception to follow. Nathan said: It worked out perfect for us. Party hard the night before, and enjoy the simplicity of the temple ceremony with family and close friends the day after. Highly recommend it. A huge thank you to Nathan & Katie for allowing me to share their wedding. Images from this set can also be found on some of my other favourite blogs including {frolic} and {Casando Idieas} Credit: Julie Wallace

Laid Back Lovelies

Kat

July 22, 2009

Karlie & Jamie only made the decision to get married three months before the day. A lot of their friends were getting married during the year and had spent months planning everybody else's weddings. So it wasn't until the very last minute, that the laid back couple decided to get engaged and then hitched literally straight away! Karlie's father is a pastor at their church so they started the day with a very heartfelt, personal service. They then went to a local park to have some cool portraits taken (they couple also had their engagement shoot here) and rounded off the day with a small reception in Karlie's parent's back garden. Special thanks to photographer Kate for sharing this beautiful day with me. Credit: Depict Photography

Standing Out From The Crowd

Kat

July 22, 2009

What you'll probably first notice about this set (apart from the Bride's wicked tattoo and the wedding's cute daisy theme) is that the photography is a little different. Photographer Katie Malone uses a variety of techniques to make her work stand out from the crowd. First we have the Holga images, an inexpensive 'toy' camera that produces distorted and low-fidelity images. The effect is dramatic light leaks (the red intrusions) blurs and vignetting (the soft dark edged images). She accompanies this with the use of infra-red (in black and white and with complete colour washes) and TTV (Through the Viewfinder) images. The latter looks a little like a Polaroid and produce a vintage looking, square image with a dark black border. These techniques aren't for everyone, but I'm sure any Rock n Roll Bride can appreciate the originality and quirkiness of the result. Thanks to Katie for sharing...

Genuine Vintage Style

Kat

July 6, 2009

I get super excited when I find weddings like this, and I get even more excited when the couple send me all the juicy details so I can share them with you all. Sarah & Colin chose some really special details to make their vintage wedding just right. Sarah's ridiculously beautiful dress was a genuine 1950's vintage find from a small shop in Lambertville NJ, and her shoes, which perfectly match her dress, were from Anthropologie. Colin wore a J Crew suit with a pocket square that belonged to his Grandfather. The couple also went DIY crazy, making the invites, the name cards, and the table numbers themselves, Colin said to me "We spent way to much time using one of those round corner cutters! It hurt my fingers" but I think it was definitely worth it, the result is just gorgeousness. Finally the flowers were put together by generous friend and family helpers, gotta love them! A huge thank you to Amanda and Carina of Love Me Do Photographyfor sending me the images, and to Newlyweds Sarah & Colin for sharing their wonderful day with us.

Garden Rose

Kat

June 30, 2009

I have something to say and it may be shocking to some of you...I don't 'get' Martha Stewart...what is they fascination? I'm just as crafty as the next geek but something about her repulses me just a little bit. Maybe it's because the first time I ever heard of her was when she went to jail (I'm in the UK, not Mars by the way) or because whenever I catch her on Wedding TV (yes I am that sad...) I feel inclined to run away. I mean, she's not very rock n roll is she? However, I just saw this wedding on her ridiculously kitch (although it pains me to know it's not even in an ironic way) wedding website, and despite the source this wedding is so uber gorgeous that I have to share the love. John & Lily married in Lily's parent's back garden which had great sentimental value for the couple. Lily's beautiful bouquet was made of bridal garden roses, dahlias, orchids, lily of the valley, jasmine, sweetpeas, and scented geranium, all tied together with a cute blue ribbon. She also ordered some custom Liberty fabric clutches for her Bridesmaids, each designed to fit the individual girl's personality. Clicky here for more images and info, and let me know - am I the only wedding obsessive that doesn't love the Stewart?

A Broke Ass Wedding

Kat

June 28, 2009

After posting Dana (of The Broke Ass Bride fame) & Hunter's awesome 'Fresh Hubby of LA' wedding video I thought I was done. I saw their phenomenal photographs by Dan of Chennergy (who shot their wedding for free!) but decided to not share them straight away as I assumed photography as fantastic as this would pop up on all the wedding blogs. However it seems that maybe everybody else had the same idea as me, and while I've seen their video everywhere I look their photographs seem to have fallen to the wayside maybe just a little bit. That, my friends, is a travesty of utmost proportions. These must be seen and adored. Enjoy! Credit: Chennergy curtosy of The Broke Ass Bride

Happy Sunday and a very Happy Father's day to you all. Posting will be slim today as I am cooking up the most amazing contest which I will launch tomorrow...believe me, it's worth checking back! The light, bright and fresh colour palate of this gorgeous wedding has been perfectly mimicked by Benj Haisch's gorgeous photography. The whole effect is a chilled out, cool and calm one and they seem to have had an absolute blast! Thanks to Benj Haisch for this submission - photographers, if you too fancy seeing your work on Rock n Roll Bride, drop me a little email why don't ya?
