Classic Vintage with a Twist of Awesome

Kat

March 21, 2010

I am really starting to fall head over heels in love with Matt Johnson Photography...and I'm not afraid to admit it! His images are subtle, unobtrusive and captures beautiful weddings with all the justice they deserve. Elodie & Greg's wedding was one I fell in love with as soon as I saw the first frame. Her amazing vintage-inspired outfit, jewellery and so-now white lace gloves make me smile with glee and his rad groom style puts every other groom to shame! The no-jacket/waistcoat look is totally Rock n Roll and looks way-too-cool when matched with his boys in braces. The details of this wedding are to die for - from the birdcages, the white heart motif, the retro 'admissions' sign, the outdoor chandelier. Awesome.

All Because of Rock n Roll

Kat

February 12, 2010

Bonnie & Rod's 195os inspired wedding was held at Malcolm's Of Maleny in Queensland, Australia. When I asked photographer Julian what made this pair rock n roll, he had the perfect answer for me... "Bonnie was born and raised in Australia and in short, is a singer. Rod was born and raised in Mississippi and had never been to Australia before -- They met over the Internet through each other's music, Rod being a Guitarist in a band without a singer. Bonnie was asked by Rod to record a singing part to a piece he had recorded. And the rest, as they say, is history. He flew over and met her, they dated and then, obviously, married. All because of Rock And Roll, literally." Thanks to Julian for sharing this fabulous wedding with us

On a Quirky & Personal Afternoon

Kat

January 17, 2010

Brett & Louise had an quirky and personal afternoon ceremony which was held at the Mt Coo-tha Botanical Gardens in Brisbane, Australia. Their untraditional ceremony featured two rituals, both a ring warming and a hand-fasting ceremony. Photographer Rebecca told me all about this fun and family-oriented day: During the ring warming ceremony the rings were past around the guests who were asked to give their blessings and to make a wish for Louise & Brett’s future together. During the exchange of rings Louise went from tears to laughter which help to create fantastic emotive images of her. After the exchanging of the rings the hand fasting was performed. This ceremony involved Brett and Louise’s mothers winding and tying a piece of ribbon around their hands binding them together in life.

Contrast & Style

Kat

November 18, 2009

This Australian wedding blew me away as soon as I laid eyes on that dress! Shannon & Carl got married in Brisbane and had a vintage glam wedding full of quirky and classically styled delights. I am loving the multi-layered, uber cute dress and accessories that Shannon rocked (including her amazing bouquet - le swoon indeed) and the locations are to die for - the glamourous ceremony hotel contrasts perfectly with rough 'n ready portrait site and the super trendy, waterside reception venue. A wedding of contrasts and a wedding of style. Thanks to newcomer Stephen for sharing one of his very first weddings with us.

Electic & Colourful

Kat

November 9, 2009

You lucky lucky things, I have yet another post of wonderfulness from Vanessa of Wildberry Design & Studio - the wedding to accompany the amazing Pin Up. Tattooed. Awesomes engagement shoot. Although this wedding has undeniable classic and traditional elements, it's the personal and Rock n Roll touches that 'make' it. They give the wedding the twist it needs to make me fall in love with it - and them! Plus it may well have the most electic and colourful gaggle of guests I've ever seen. Love them! Again, thanks to Vanessa for sharing Credit: Wildberry Design & Studio

Intense. Elation. Ridiculous.

Kat

October 21, 2009

As soon as I laid eyes on James & Rebecca's Melbourne wedding I knew I wanted to blog it. However with photographer Jonas Peterson so in demand by wedding bloggers I thought for sure that someone had beaten me to it. So imagine my elation this morning when I received a tweet from Jonas who asked if I'd like to be the first to blog them...Well of course! The wedding took place at the 300m Eureka Tower in Melbourne which proved a challenge for their dear photographer who admits to having a fear of heights! The results are, of course, astounding. Quite apart from the intense photography - the details, her multi-layers dress in the most flattering dark white shade and the gorgeous venue - make this a wedding I am more than proud to share. Thanks to the ridiculously talented Jonas for sharing these...woooo!

Equal Love

Kat

August 2, 2009

Yesterday Equal Love protests took place all over Australia for the 5th year running. Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Hobart and Canberra all hosted events. Their mission is to change public opinion on gay marriage in their country through education and direct action. Yesterday was a landmark event for them, thousands of people showed up to each venue to witness hundreds of gay and lesbian couples commit their lives to each other in technically illegal ceremonies right in front of these cities' courthouses. Photographer Jessie Broome of J Studios attended the Melbourne event and alongside 4000 others, witnessed 65 couples commit their lives to each other. I personally believe this is a wonderful cause and I fully support the rights of gay couples to marry. I would just like to add that this is not a sponsored post of any kind and that have not been paid to write this article. Jessie sent me the link and I knew I'd have to share it with you all. I feel very strongly that prejudice against gay relationships or marriage is fundamentally wrong and hope though my little blog, I can hopefully highlight this fantastic cause to a few more people. Thans to Jessie for sharing the cause with us and for allowing us to use her images from the event. Credit: J Studios
