Are Long Lasting Liquid Lipsticks Worth the Hype?

Kat

April 29, 2016

I'm really into watching beauty reviews on YouTube right now. I know, I'm about 5 years late to the party and probably about 10 years older than their average viewer but it's SO FASCINATING. I did actually momentarily consider filming this post rather than writing it, but then I decided to stick with what I know because being on camera is the cringiest thing ever (I just joined Snapchat and I'm trying to get better at it though, My username is kat_rocknroll if you want to follow me!)

Those eagle eyed amongst you might recognise the bride in this wedding, Kirsty was one of our models for my veil collab with Crown and Glory! When I met her, saw her amazing Disney sleeve tattoo and heard all about their Disney themed wedding, I was SO EXCITED. Now the time has finally come for me feature it and I'm pretty sure you're all going to flip out over it too. The best part is they pulled the wedding off with a budget of just £2,500!

If I've said it once, I've said it a billion times - investing in your wedding photography is SO important. However in all the discussions we've had on this topic, there's one thing that's often forgotten (and I'll admit, even by me sometimes) and that is the wedding video. I understand why so many couples decide to not have one. Whether its budget constraints, memories of cheesy 90s VHS tapes, thinking you'll probably never watch it afterwards, or not liking how you look or sound on film. So I decided to open the discussion on the topic in the Rock n Roll Bride Facebook group. Here's just a very small sampling of what they had to say.

Harry Potter Wedding at Hogwarts

OK, so Lewis and Cassie's wedding wasn't actually held at Hogwarts, but there ceremony venue, Manchester Town Hall, does have a striking resemblance! "Two words describe our wedding entirely: Harry Potter!" said the bride. "We got engaged at the Diagon Alley section at Universal Studios Florida and have always loved the Harry Potter films and books. It made sense to us to have a Harry Potter themed wedding and to take pretty much all of the inspiration for our day from the films. We wanted it to look quirky and classy but not like an 8-year-old’s birthday party which can sometimes be a challenge when you have a theme, especially something like Harry Potter!"

Helen and Rich are hooked on the TV series, Peaky Blinders, so when they came to plan their Manchester wedding, they based it on their favourite show. "It was only natural that we decided to join the Brummy gang for our wedding day", Helen explained. "Also, Rich's father grew up not that far from the real Peaky Blinders gang, he has Irish heritage, and I have always been obsessed by the 1920s. It just made sense."

Laura and Simon wanted a wedding that felt like them. They didn't pick one particular theme. "We didn't really have a set ‘theme’," explained the bride. "With so many fantastic sources of inspiration we simply couldn't decide and commit to one thing. At the beginning, we felt overwhelmed, but soon realised that we needed to focus less on the best bits of other people’s weddings, and more on what we actually wanted for our own. It was important that whatever we chose reflected our relationship, interests and personalities and this is exactly what helped us to bring it all together."

Assassynation

Alex and Maddy had different ideas about what their wedding should be like, but luckily they learned to compromise! "When we first started discussing the type of wedding we wanted, we realised we were on opposite ends of the spectrum", explained the bride. "Alex would have been more than happy with a simple registry office with minimal guests whereas I wanted something where we could celebrate with all of our friends and family, where I could feel a bit like a princess for the day! In the end we agreed on a rustic woodland theme and kept to a relatively small budget considering the size of our guest list. We had 105 people (big families!)."
