The Pink Door

Hi friends! Goodness, it's been a long time since I've had a house post for you hasn't it? I have to admit that I think I was a tad ambitious thinking I'd be able to update you weekly on our renovation. I've mentioned this before, but things have progressed really slowly (aka they haven't progressed at all!) over the winter months. The motivation to tackle big projects has been seriously lacking but now that spring is finally here (allegedly!) we are PSYCHED to get back on that reno-train. IN FACT we're doing the kitchen next month, which I am SO EXCITED about so I'll have lots more updates for you soon.

When it comes to bridal fashion, I think it's safe to say that in a lot of instances, there's a lot of the 'same old same old' about. So when I see a bride rocking an outfit that is truly unique, and a proper representation of her everyday style I get very excited indeed. Enter: Jamie and Frank and their  incredible elopement! Both motorbike obsessives who wear denim day in day out, it was the obvious choice for their wedding day too! Both of them wore double denim, the bride in all-white and the groom in all-black!

One of my favourite things is connecting with you guys on social media and something I hear over and over in our private Facebook group (where we're about to hit 13,000 members, whhhhaaaat!?) is that there's a huge lack of non-sucky, non-cheesy, non-eye-roll-inducing bridal t-shirts available. T-shirts that you can wear on your hen do, to wedding shows, getting ready the morning of the big day itself... or maybe even post-wedding to celebrate your new wifed status. So I did some research, and while occasionally a high street or online store will bring out a wedding tee, if it doesn't 100% blow (do NOT get me started on the whole 'shedding for the wedding' thing!) it will usually sell out faster than you can add it to your cart and checkout. So I knew what I had to do, I needed to design my own!

How I Started Rock n Roll Bride (AKA If I Can Do it, You Bloody Well Can Too!)

Kat

March 12, 2018

One of the questions I'm asked the most often is "How did you start Rock n Roll Bride?" There's a short version that I reel off without a second thought, but after reading this post by my friends at Bespoke Bride I was inspired to put digital pen to digital paper and write about it in much more detail. Maybe it will help you if you're just starting out with your businesses, or maybe it'll be nothing more than a welcome distraction from that other thing you're really supposed to be doing right now! Regardless I think it'll be a fun exercise for me to journey back down memory lane for a bit.

Shell de Mar

If you've been following me for a while then you'll probably already know that Marrakech is one of my favourite cities. The colour, the people, culture, the shopping... it's just heaven. The medina is crazy busy and, at times, a little overwhelming, but there is so also much more to do here than just shop. There are beautiful, colourful  gardens all over the city, rooftop terraces with spectacular views and hammams to get the scrub down of your life in! You will come home with a suitcase full of spices and colourful homewares, hands covered in henna and hearts full with all the joy of Morocco!

I don't usually like to make assumptions about which weddings might be the most popular ones that we publish, but I'm pretty confident to state that I think you are all going to lose your collective shit when you see Lisa and Tom's wedding. Why? Well would you get a load of her DRESS!!! Before we move onto discussing anything else about this one, we need to talk about that immediately!

OMEDELBAR from IKEA: Gothic Meets Hollywood Glamour for your Home!

March 1, 2018

There are two great life lessons I've learnt since embarking on our renovation project: Everything will take 1716 times longer than you hoped it would, and IKEA is basically brilliant. OK so I knew the latter already, but when you have people coming around for your first attempt at hosting Christmas Eve and you realise that morning that you haven't got enough chairs for everyone... Well let's just say I thank those Swedish home gods everyday that they decided to open a branch in Reading.

Dark Botanical Wedding at Islington Metal Works

February 23, 2018

Matt and Laura, who met at University, went for a dark botanical theme for their London wedding. They were inspired by their reception venue, The Islington Metal Works and used their prop store to source a lot of the decor. They also brought in lots of things from their own home (and the homes of their friends and family!) and handmade what they could. The DIY projects included their wish tree for guests to write on, and even the cabinet where they placed the wedding favours. They were collection of personal trinkets and curios that they'd bought from various flea markets in Berlin and San Francisco that would suit each guest. Guests were invited to look through the cabinet and find the one with their name on to take away - talk about going the extra mile am I right!? All-in-all this was one hell of a cool and creative event.
