Jamie and Michael had two very different wedding celebrations -  a small family-focused event in the scorching heat in Malaga and a second a few weeks later, for all the rest of their friends and family back home in Belfast... in the rain! The two events couldn't be more different (the bride even changed her hair colour between the two!) but both felt completely right for them. After all, isn't that what being a Rock n Roll bride is all about?

October 2007 was when I first started writing about weddings on the internet. As a newly engaged 23-year-old I was quickly disillusioned with the wedding world that I was presented with and although Gareth and I didn't really know what we wanted for our wedding, we knew we didn't want any of what the wedding magazines were showing us. Spend £30k? Travel in a horse and carriage? Wear a big poofy strapless dress and designer shoes? NO THANK YOU.

It's not often a wedding literally stops me in my tracks but as soon as Emma and Ian's Las Vegas wedding landed in my inbox I was OBSESSED. Their email read, "Dear Kat, we got married at The Neon Boneyard in Las Vegas on September 21st. The bride is Emma, a funeral director, the groom is Ian, a musician and artist. We had planned a holiday visiting friends in Vegas and thought it was the perfect opportunity for a quiet, intimate ceremony… Oh and the groom is a crossdresser and insisted on having a dress too."

Gemma and Brian chose the intimate setting of Minute Man National Park in Concord, MA for their September elopement. They invited just 12 guests to witness the ceremony and have a meal with them afterwards. The easy-going bride rented her dress and did her own hair and make up on the day.

Robyn and Ash were legally married in Vegas at the Chapel of the Flowers but they wanted to host a big party when they got back to Yorkshire for all their family and friends. The party had a really low key, retro and kitsch vibe, hosted at their local community centre. The flowers came from a local flower market, the cakes were from various supermarkets and the stationery was made by the bride. Instead of a fancy meal they served wood-fired pizza and the night ended with - who else? - an Elvis impersonator!

For their winter wedding, Trixie and Sam were inspired by the resident pigs at their venue, South Farm in Cambridgeshire. As soon as they found out about them they decided that they had to incorporate them into the theme of the day. All the tables were named after different species with their own facts on the table markers. They added a tattoo/ rockabilly element with their choice of cake, place settings and the temporary tattoo station which was a huge hit with the guests.

They included nods to their Scottish and Italian/Indian heritages as well as elements that defined them as a couple such as serving a fully vegetarian menu. The family-only ceremony was held at Bedford Town Hall with their low key, DIY reception hosted at The Pavilion in Bedford Park.
