Rock n Roll Bride was built on sharing alternative, inspirational yet attainable real weddings. When I started blogging in 2007 there was no other platform showcasing weddings that sauntered off the beaten path. However through many long hours of trawling wedding forums, Flickr groups and good old fashion Google, I was able to uncover many, MANY incredibly creative, super unique real weddings that weren't being shared anywhere else - I assume because they didn't fit the picture perfect, traditional wedding mould that was so popular a decade ago.Read more...

Charlie and Mark had a pretty unconventional, NSFW engagement shoot (which is actually one of my favourites we've ever published!) so, unsurprisingly, their September wedding shunned tradition too. They decided that they wanted a bohemian inspired by with elements of Peaky Blinders and Wes Anderson. They did lots of DIY projects to make their day feel really special and personal. In particular they arranged all the flowers and created all the paper goods (invites, table plan, order of the day etc).Read more...

Em and Tam were married in August at Court Farm in Standerwick, a lovingly restored 16th Century farmhouse set in ten acres of gardens and grounds in the heart of the English countryside. However there was no question in our minds when we clapped eyes on Alexa and Andries' two day celebration in South Africa. Katherine and Jason's wedding was like something out of a movie, and was a real community effort. They rented a cabin for all their guests to stay in the week before. The day itself started with a first look, right by the water, followed by an intimate and nature-inspired ceremony. Karen and Dean were married in the ruins of Ettington Park's chapel in October. Their day had a gothic theme which was reflected in the bride's choice of black wedding dress (made by The Couture Company), their Black Cherry Cake Company cake and all the decorations. I have two very distinct sides to my personality: A rainbow loving, magpie emulating, glitter obsessive, 'Disney is everything!' side and an all-black-all-the-time, metal music listening, 'forever looking for the perfect nude lipstick' side. I am nothing if not a contradiction but for some reason it makes total sense to me. One day I want to roll myself in glitter, dress head to toe in rainbows and slick on some hot pink lipstick, and the next I only want to wear black and for everything to be clean and very neatly organised.Read more...

Not only is it usually one of the first things you have to do (you can’t really organise anything else until you know where the day will be taking place!) but its hugely time consuming. Narrowing down your search by venue type, location and budget… then comparing packages and prices to make sure you get the best deal and that everything you need is included with no hidden surprises is, quite frankly, a bloody nightmare.Read more...

Claire and Tom went for a Mexican/Day of the Dead theme for their July wedding. Complete with sugar skulls, piñatas, flamingos and sombreros, they planned their day with a £5000 budget.
