Jonali wore her mother's wedding from from 1989 (with a few minor alterations) when she married Michael in September last year. She wanted to play homage to her mother while still making her look her own so she had the sleeves and a bow on the butt (so 80s!) removed which she then used to wrap around her handmade brooch bouquet. Other than that, their main inspo for the day was their venue, Hammond Castle, and wanting to have a dark, 'til death' vibe.

There's nothing we love more at Rock n Roll Bride than going OTT, extra AF and living your best authentic life, no matter what that looks like to you. This shoot, which we shot just days before lockdown began in March (yes, it's taken me a long time to getting around to blogging it!) was featured inside issue 32 of the magazine, and while we'd been planning it for a few months, the glitz, glamour and all-round flamboyant extravagance of the theme was actually JUST what we needed to see once the dreaded c-word wreaked havoc with the world!

Fiona and Allana wanted their summer 2019 wedding to reflect their personalities and their love story. They met at primary school (although were in different years so they didn't really know each other) and reconnected when they both started working at the same place. Although neither of them were out at the time, they instantly clicked, knowing what they were feeling for each other was more than just friendship.

This April wedding was a strong female-led affair with both brides being walked down the aisle by their mothers and the cake and flowers being made by Carleigh's. She even surprised them by putting pictures of some of their favourite people on the bouquets - those that had either passed away and were unable to attend their special day. "Carleigh’s bouquet had a photo of her dad, and Sara’s bouquet had a photo of her grandmothers who raised her", they explained.

This couple spared no expense to have the wedding of their wildest dreams! Harout and Rosario’s love story is like something out of a movie. They met in an LA art gallery, becoming best friends and within a few months of knowing each other, fell in love. For their winter wedding they wanted to reflect their love story and planned an opulent and glamorous day with a rich, luxurious feel. Their colour scheme was white with accents of gold.

This morning I posted in our private Facebook group checking in with everyone and asking if there was anything particularly worrying people right now. Overwhelmingly, the responses were that there was a general feeling of anxiety and apathy about having to postpone and re-plan their weddings. I figured if that’s going on in there, it’s probably going on out here too, so I did something I haven't for a very long time and sat down to write and publish a blog post in real time!

We LOVE Megan and Phil's unique and stylish wedding theme. A mixture of yellow, blush and nude tones with citrus fruits used as decor, they created a really beautiful, yet totally 'them' summer celebration (plus Phil is a chef so incorporating ingredients into their table settings felt very fitting!) Having the bridal party all in white really let the decor touches shine too - sometimes (sometttimesss!) less really is more!

They were always going to elope and luckily, even though a lockdown was imminent, Jodi and Terry were still able to go ahead with their intimate March wedding. They'd booked into have their quicky ceremony at Garfield Park Conservatory in Chicago (which was free!) and a friend, who got ordained especially for the event, hosted the proceedings. They had no guests at the ceremony, which was always their plan. They really didn't want a big wedding or any fuss. The idea was for it to just feel like a fancy day out.

Dinka and Renier, who are German but live in South Africa, realised that their marriage license was going to expire during lockdown. Not wanting to start the whole planing process again, they decided to bite the bullet and get married the very next day, before lockdown came into effect. Although it was different to what they had in mind for their wedding, they don't regret the way they did it at all!
