Thrift Store Find

Kat

August 25, 2009

A few months ago, photographer Jennifer Williams' sister found this gorgeous vintage dress in a thrift store for $10. Being the helpful sibling that she is, she knew it would be perfect for a photoshoot and so bought it right away. Jen wnt on to tell me the whole story: The minute I saw it I couldn't wait to plan a shoot centered around it! I couldn't get those old images of Bonnie and Clyde out of my head from the old 1967 movie. Most of my inspiration was centered around that, although I mixed and matched decades into my own take on vintage fashion. Then I found out we had permission to shoot at this salvage yard and the shoot became this beautiful classy take on grunge. As weird as it sounds, that is the best way I can describe it. Awesome Locations

Chad & Erin of Fuller Edge always choose the most awesome locations for their shoots. With Angel & Craig, who rocked their wedding with skull cufflinks, converse trainers, a pink wedding dress and adorable pink and green details (clicky here for the full set), Chad & Erin took them to a junkyard for these fab shots. I am loving the use of water and the texture in every single image. Wonderful! Thanks to Chad & Erin for sending these to me. I always adore their work! Credit: Fuller Edge Photography

Sunset Love Story

Kat

August 24, 2009

I really need to be lying down with some honey and lemon and watching trash on tv as I'm sick...grr I don't do well when I get ill - boredom is not my Forté. I just had to drop by and share a few little images from this Russian engagement session entitled 'Sunset Love Story.' Totally beautiful huh? It's hard to choose, but I think the 'red heart lollypop' one has got to be my favourite. Too gorgeous! The photographer, Mukhina Ekaterina, will actually be touring the states in October/November of this year and would love to meet and photograph some rock n roll couples. Drop her an email if you're game! Until tomorrow, when I hope to be feeling less vile and able to share all the amazing weddings I've been sent over the weekend (I swear...they are all amazing!) I Love This!

Kat

August 24, 2009

So I saw this wedding on I Love Lolliblog the other day and was instantly smitten. Then when photographer Christine Chang submitted the wedding to me as well I thought 'what the hell' and have decided to break my self-imposed rule of not re-blogging. This wedding is too damn special and too damn rock n roll to pass up! The gorgeous Bride Kristi, who owns her own jewellery company named Diamond Willow designed and DIYed the whole wedding - from the centrepieces to her stunning peacock bouquet, the boutonnieres and her own flower hairpiece. She wore a sample gown designed by Lian Carlo and her Mum altered the neckline and made the train detachable for dancing. The Bridesmaids have got to be some of the most gorgeous I have ever seen, rocking their Betsey Johnson frocks, white platform shoes, babies breath bouquets and personalised 'knuckleduster' rings designed by Kristi herself. Thanks to Christine for sending me these and to I Love Lolliblog for sharing them to begin with! Credit: Christine Chang via I Love Lolliblog

After giving myself an impromptu day away from my computer yesterday I have come back to a plethora of emails full to bursting with weddingy gorgeousness. I can not wait to get blogging it all! I'd better start the day with the most important announcement however..the winners of the Todd Ritondaro New York Love film contest. I have been overwhelmed with votes - over 2400 of you took the time to read the couple's stories and vote for your favourite - yey! It got pretty close at times but I am very excited to let you all know that the winners are.... Kate & Dan! Woooo! Well done guys - you will be meeting up with the lovely Todd sometime next month to film your love story! I can not wait to see the final result and of course give it the premier it deserves right here on the site. Thanks to everybody that took the time to come and vote!

Cowboys & Rockstars

Kat

August 23, 2009

Chris & Todd had two reasons to celebrate on their wedding day as Chris was 7 1/2 months pregnant! Her gorgeous dress and bolero were custom made by Elizabeth Dye and complimented her baby bump beautifully. I hope I look this radiant if I ever have kids. The couple incorporated everything they love into the day, as photographer Heather Hawksford described it - 'canoeing, horseshoe, croquet, Pete Krebs Trio, The Dickle Brothers, cowboys & rockstars chatting over homemade beer' Sounds perfect huh? August 22, 2009

With a pair as passionate about music as these guys, coupled with the fact that they met at a park, what better place to have their engagement shoot than at a picnic and to have it featured on Rock n Roll Bride!? I am well aware that every single couple I feature is adorable, but Emma & Paul?...there really is no other way to describe them! Thanks to Ashlee Nicole for sending in this web exclusive photo session! Credit: Ashlee Nicole Photography and Media

When You’ve Got A (New York) Minute…

Kat

August 21, 2009

New Yorker David M had the oppotunity to shoot a gorgeous Polish couple on his home turf. He explains: My dear friend Adam Ludwik has spent over a month visiting America for the first time. He is one of Poland's best wedding photographers. You can see his work at his website and blog. Right before he left to photograph another lucky couple on Polish ground I had a chance to shoot his clients Agata and Alfonso right here - in our old good New York. We have visited a few very familiar locations and tried to put a new spin on them. As always, thanks to David for sharing these stunning images and speaking of New York, have you voted yet for your favourite's to win the 'we fell in love in NYC' contest yet? Boy, is it hotting up over there!

Guess Who’s Back?

Kat

August 21, 2009

Do you remember Stacey & Quentin and their awesome love train photo session from earlier this year? I have to say, I see a lot of faces and photographs everyday but as soon as I saw these I recognised Quentin (or more specificallyhis damn cool beard!) right away. The couple, who cited Rock n Roll Bride as a great source of inspiration during their wedding planning (yey!) met up with Jeremy Lawson for yet more fabulous portraits - lucky things! Jeremy, you rock my world! MWAH...

A Day In The Life

Kat

August 20, 2009

As soon as these images landed in my inbox early this morning I was desperate to blog them right away! First off the couple are ridiculously beautiful (but that, of course, goes without saying), secondly I have never seen such a gorgeous set of images where it is just the two of them, no barriers, no props, just the newlyweds being themselves. In fact I'm not even sure I've ever seen an 'in bed' style shoot used as part of a day after session. I love it. The photographs are so intimate and so personal yet done in such as way that there is no element of sleaze...I don't even feel voyeuristic looking at them They really are just art. Art and love. We then move onto the bulk of the shoot, where living in Odessa, Texas (a place where there is apparently 'nothing ') doesn't seem to have made these images anything less than breathtaking. The train, the graffiti, the river, the tree. The gorgeously intimate style continues only this time with a back drop that tantalises the senses all by itself. If this isn't enough for you, then be sure to check out the couple's wedding too! A huge thank you to Chelsea for sending me these exclusive shots (oh yes, exclusives make me happy!) Good morning blog-land...how are we all? I just wanted to say thank you thank you thank you for the amazing response to the first 'How To Blog' article and I will definitely be writing some more in the future. I have received some brilliant questions relating to the idea of Originality and Connections which I will certainly share with you all soon. Right, back to the gorgeousness and an adorable engagement session from Australian photographer Tim Harris. I was completely overcome by fashion envy when I saw these, for me it's all about her delightful dress and his awesome trilby hat! Credit: Tim Harris Photography

How To Blog – Originality & Connections

Kat

August 19, 2009

For a little while now I have had a little nugget of an idea floating around my head, a teeny tiny musing that could turn into something if nurtured. I have been thinking of starting a mini series about ‘How to Blog’. I’d love to be able to share my experiences and hopefully impart some wisdom on others wanting to expand their blogging success. I’m primarily thinking about those who want to blog in order to share other people’s work and inspiration. For this first instalment I want to draw attention to a small part of whole affair that I feel is quite an important one. I am making reference to bloggers and photographers solely because this is what I know and this is the circle I move in, yet I hope the basic idea can be transferred to your own preferred network. Let me know what you think…

The Enchanted Forest

Kat

August 19, 2009

Sarah & Kevin's North Carolina wedding has got to be one of the most detail-perfect enchanted woodland wonderlands I've ever seen, with branches even weaving and wondering throughout the rooms the couple got ready in. This stunning venue is Garden Retreat in Poplar. At this outset this day had an air of magic about it. From the ever so slightly scary giant wooden insects, to the awesome 'picture on the wall' photo booth, to the amazingly detailed centrepieces - there is nothing about this wedding that doesn't exude enchantment. The magic doesn't stop there though - the couple actually DIY'ed the whole lot! Oh yes...That is quite frankly incredible and makes me feel terribly terribly inartistic. The couple's portraits in the woods are so perfect they look like they were shot on the set of a Hollywood movie - most probably directed by Tim Burton or written by Lewis Carroll. I just can't get enough of the back lit images! As always, thanks to Tara for sharing her incredible images with me. Eeeek..I looove them! Credit: Dixie Pixel Photography

If you're having a English country garden themed wedding then what better way to celebrate your engagement than with a complete opposite in a Sex and the City style pre-wedding shoot!? I am loving all the wardrobe changes, especially that ruffly, ruched green dress - I have been swooning over it in Coast myself for the past few months! Thank you to the wonderful Julia Boggio for sending me these exclusive (woop woop!) images to share with you all. Credit: Julia Boggio Photography
