Her Grandmother’s Dress

Kat

August 14, 2009

Will & Kerr are getting married next month in the glorious San Francisco. Originally from New York, the couple will surely have a super stylish day at Presidio Chapel and Marines' Memorial Club. Kerr is wearing a dress originally worn by her Grandmother on her first date with her Grandfather which really adds to the personal and intimate feel of this session. Note: If you too met and fell in love in New York then you better get on a enter the New York film contest. The contest is open for entries until Sunday so hurry up!

Under The Spotlight – Lara Jade

Kat

August 12, 2009

So I don't usually post a selection of photographers work, preferring to focus on one wedding, engagement or photo shoot instead of a bit of a mish-mash. However I believe I am able to make an exception for Lara Jade. The twenty year old (yes I know!) fashion photographer from Tamworth, UK is quite frankly so inspiring and talented that she really deserves every single image of hers to be posted. Lara's fashion and editorial style is second to none. Just check out these images and tell me you're not in love with them? Unfortunately with her being so fabulous and all, her work is often stolen and used illegally (and yes I did get permission for this post!) If you fancy hearing more about this then I just found this fab BBC video all about it. Thanks to the gorgeous Lara for working with me on the post, and if you are a photographer or vendor yourself and are interested in being a subject in an 'Under the Spotlight' feature then get in touch for all the info! Multi-Coloured Tresses

Kat

August 12, 2009

My life as a blogger is a pretty damn busy one. I'm not just saying this for effect, but I get sent so much amazing stuff to post everyday that I almost can't keep up! The next post of this early Wednesday morning ( have no clue why I'm up so early, I even drank a whole bottle of wine last night) belongs to one of my brand spanking new sponsors, Stacy Able. As soon as I saw this set I knew she not only had to send it to me for posting but she had to make it the image for her new sponsor link. The multicoloured tresses, the splattered paint, the cute dog...oh yeah baby my sponsors are the bestest. Credit: Stacy Able

A Punk Rock Fairytale

Kat

August 12, 2009

Alysson & David's wedding was a fusion of traditional, rock n roll and crazy awesome hair! They were married in a church that was a converted school by David's father who is a pastor. As photographer, Daniel Krieger said to me... The couple tore up the dance floor once some loud punk music came on the stereo.. the atmosphere of the wedding was just a chill, fun time.. people with different coloured hair and regular looking aunts all on the dance floor together. Alysson's Amsale dress was accoumpanied it with some shoes by Chinese Laundry, bought from DSW. The rock star credentials don't stop there though. Not only did The Ramones play at their reception (!) but they had a pair of guests, Tish and Snooky, that not only used to be in Blondie (ARRGH!) but are the founders of Manic Panic (kick ass hair colour dye.) I think right now I owe those two a huge thank you for creating such amazing rainbow hair dye! Thanks to Daniel for sending this rock star wedding to me! Credit: Daniel Krieger

Too Stylish For Me

Bess & Matt...ahh what can I really say what would do justice to the images I see before me? The couple wed at Ridley Creek State Park with an amazing outdoorsy, rustic style fest. Of course Bess' tattoos and Matt's 'tache are what did it for me. Not to mention the dress by Megin Sherry, the check shirt (wow this Groom has some serious style) the casual garden flowers provided by Amanda Staples, the peacock earrings, the trilby hat and the cupcakes...oh yes Bess & Matt are just too stylish for me. Thanks to Amanda & Carina for sending me this glorious wedding Credit: Love Me Do Photography

The Eyes Have It

Kat

August 11, 2009

Erm....woaaaah... I have lost all words right now. Those fake blue eyelashes really make this shoot for me - 80's-tastic baby! You have got to love these right? The shoot can be described as my attempt to take a whimsical, expect the unexpected, approach to what we normally think of when we think of a typical bride, what she should be wearing and what she should look like, etc. For example we had this gown that looks like it was straight from the 80's contrasted with perfectly styled up hair. The bride is fully made-up but in crazy colours that you would usually only see on a cabaret dancer. Even the backgrounds we chose, sitting on a haystack, waiting alone on a bench....imagery that causes the viewer to double-take and basically cause a reaction whether it be a laugh, confusion, wonder - that's what we were aiming for! WIN! ♥ A New York Love Story ♥

Kat

August 10, 2009

I ♥ New York. I’ve only been lucky enough to visit the city once before, but I have to say, after Tokyo, it is quite possibly my favourite city in the world (and seriously makes London look rubbish – sorry London.) As if you New Yorkers weren’t lucky enough, your life is about to get ever just a teensy tiny bit better. Oh yes, I kid you not – I have such a ridiculously amazing contest for you that I wish I could fly the hell over there and win the damn thing myself! Todd Ritondaro, who has worked on a range of films ranging from national commercials to small indie films is now branching into the world of wedding film and wants to make a little film about love in the big apple and he needs subjects... and that’s where you come in. He is giving away a free film shoot where you will play the lead. He will follow you and your beau documenting your story – where you met, where you hang out, where you fell in love… I am going to make films exploring the nuances of couples relationships, and film them in the place where they met, the places that are important to them, their regular bars and restaurants, the objects and events they give meaning to, etc. I'm fascinated by these kinds of dynamics and intricacies in relationships. I am approaching this idea the same way that I do when I shoot a narrative film, in that there would be a script of some kind, set locations, and a shot list. In some instances I would light them as well. Visually, I'm picturing something very cinematic and stylized. Not your usual wedding video. I feel like it’s hard to really get this in depth when shooting a couple on their wedding day. I think this approach is much more interesting and then allows the couple to use it on their website and screen it at their wedding. So, how about it? To be eligible you must have met and fallen in love in New York City and should still live there now. The shoot will take a full day and will happen sometime in September. To enter, drop me an email entitled ‘We fell in love in New York City’ and let me know, in no more that 250 words your New York story – how you met, how you fell in love and what New York means to you. Please include a recent photograph in your entry.

Local Talent

Kat

August 10, 2009

This is something a little different for me to post but when I saw Rosie Parsons' last few 'detail shoots' I fell in love! The Bristol - based photographer has a great relationship with some fantastic local vendors, from Clara Bows who rents and sells gorgeous vintage crockery, to local florists Bella & Fifi with whom Rosie spend the day dashing around the city delivering blooms in an adorable eco-chic piaggio. Finally I had to share some photographs from Gilly Woo, a good friend of Rosies' 30th birthday a few weeks ago. The birthday girl is also a ridiculously talented dress maker and so not only are the images pretty damn stunning but how retro chic gorgeous is the her sparkly gold vintage glam dress?
