Guess Who’s Back?

Kat

August 21, 2009

Do you remember Stacey & Quentin and their awesome love train photo session from earlier this year? I have to say, I see a lot of faces and photographs everyday but as soon as I saw these I recognised Quentin (or more specificallyhis damn cool beard!) right away. The couple, who cited Rock n Roll Bride as a great source of inspiration during their wedding planning (yey!) met up with Jeremy Lawson for yet more fabulous portraits - lucky things! Jeremy, you rock my world! MWAH...

A Day In The Life

Kat

August 20, 2009

As soon as these images landed in my inbox early this morning I was desperate to blog them right away! First off the couple are ridiculously beautiful (but that, of course, goes without saying), secondly I have never seen such a gorgeous set of images where it is just the two of them, no barriers, no props, just the newlyweds being themselves. In fact I'm not even sure I've ever seen an 'in bed' style shoot used as part of a day after session. I love it. The photographs are so intimate and so personal yet done in such as way that there is no element of sleaze...I don't even feel voyeuristic looking at them They really are just art. Art and love. We then move onto the bulk of the shoot, where living in Odessa, Texas (a place where there is apparently 'nothing ') doesn't seem to have made these images anything less than breathtaking. The train, the graffiti, the river, the tree. The gorgeously intimate style continues only this time with a back drop that tantalises the senses all by itself. If this isn't enough for you, then be sure to check out the couple's wedding too! A huge thank you to Chelsea for sending me these exclusive shots (oh yes, exclusives make me happy!) Good morning blog-land...how are we all? I just wanted to say thank you thank you thank you for the amazing response to the first 'How To Blog' article and I will definitely be writing some more in the future. I have received some brilliant questions relating to the idea of Originality and Connections which I will certainly share with you all soon. Right, back to the gorgeousness and an adorable engagement session from Australian photographer Tim Harris. I was completely overcome by fashion envy when I saw these, for me it's all about her delightful dress and his awesome trilby hat! Credit: Tim Harris Photography

How To Blog – Originality & Connections

Kat

August 19, 2009

For a little while now I have had a little nugget of an idea floating around my head, a teeny tiny musing that could turn into something if nurtured. I have been thinking of starting a mini series about ‘How to Blog’. I’d love to be able to share my experiences and hopefully impart some wisdom on others wanting to expand their blogging success. I’m primarily thinking about those who want to blog in order to share other people’s work and inspiration. For this first instalment I want to draw attention to a small part of whole affair that I feel is quite an important one. I am making reference to bloggers and photographers solely because this is what I know and this is the circle I move in, yet I hope the basic idea can be transferred to your own preferred network. Let me know what you think…

The Enchanted Forest

Kat

August 19, 2009

Sarah & Kevin's North Carolina wedding has got to be one of the most detail-perfect enchanted woodland wonderlands I've ever seen, with branches even weaving and wondering throughout the rooms the couple got ready in. This stunning venue is Garden Retreat in Poplar. At this outset this day had an air of magic about it. From the ever so slightly scary giant wooden insects, to the awesome 'picture on the wall' photo booth, to the amazingly detailed centrepieces - there is nothing about this wedding that doesn't exude enchantment. The magic doesn't stop there though - the couple actually DIY'ed the whole lot! Oh yes...That is quite frankly incredible and makes me feel terribly terribly inartistic. The couple's portraits in the woods are so perfect they look like they were shot on the set of a Hollywood movie - most probably directed by Tim Burton or written by Lewis Carroll. I just can't get enough of the back lit images! As always, thanks to Tara for sharing her incredible images with me. Eeeek..I looove them! Credit: Dixie Pixel Photography

If you're having a English country garden themed wedding then what better way to celebrate your engagement than with a complete opposite in a Sex and the City style pre-wedding shoot!? I am loving all the wardrobe changes, especially that ruffly, ruched green dress - I have been swooning over it in Coast myself for the past few months! Thank you to the wonderful Julia Boggio for sending me these exclusive (woop woop!) images to share with you all. Credit: Julia Boggio Photography

Vintage Vegas

Kat

August 18, 2009

I've never been to Vegas and I'm not all together convinced I'd like the craziness, but when I see images like these I know it can't be just one big city of sin. According to photographer Maria Mack, Las Vegas doesn't have to be all bright lights, strippers, gambling and bachelor parties. These beautiful, retro shots show Vegas in a much softer light, - one with cute heart signs and quirky vintage touches. Oh yes, this is a Vegas I could get on board with... Thanks to Maria for showing me the diversity of a Las Vegas photo shoot!

Worth The Wait

Kat

August 18, 2009

Sometimes a wedding comes along that is so damn fabulous that it's worth the wait for. I was sent an image of the bride trying on her stunning Elizabeth Dye dress by a reader, boy must have been about 6 months ago, and since then I have made it my mission to find more about the wedding, the dress, the girl, the guy and the stunning photography - it's all a bit too delightful for words huh?I am so excited to finally announce that I have the results right here! You are going to be completely gaga over these - I know I am! Ali & Danny were married on the 6th June at Bend, Oregon. The ruffles, the flowers, the cute cute shoes...I just love it all. Happy snoozy Sunday to you all! I have a distinct lack of a day filled with snooze myself as I plan to share some gorgeous and rockin' trash the dress sessions with you (and knowing me probably more!) I'm going to start with the hot shoot sent in by the very lovely Jeffery Chan of I Cherish You, a photographer from Toronto. The location of the shoot is pretty awesome huh? The shoot took place in the abandoned Kodak building which is now apparantly a very popular shoot zone for local photographers. Thanks to Jeffery for sharing these with me! Credit: I Cherish You
