The World Is Our Living Room

Kat

September 3, 2009

Cyrus & Kiss (I kid you not - cutest names ever!) had a 'the world is our living room' themed engagement shoot. Along with their photographers, they lugged a sofa (actually from the photographer's house!) into the back of a truck and drove to their location. When they got there they only wished they had also brought the TV and maybe a lamp or two to complete the set! Thanks to Paul for sending these to me. Love the album cover feel these have... We’re The Theme!

Kat

September 2, 2009

Amy & Jody certainly didn’t want a traditional wedding and went all out to show their individuality though their big day. As Amy told me, ‘We never wanted a conventional wedding. We wanted a mishmash of our favourite things and hoped it would all work out. Who needs a theme? We’re the theme!’ The couple had an intimate wedding with close family at Islington town hall which was followed by a massive party at The Distillers Bar. It was the small touches that made this day fabulous - whether that being the ice-cream van (free 99s all round!) the Cuban band or the tower of cupcakes and free flowing drinks that scream of British summer like Pimms. Amy’s outfit was a vintage-inspired look at high street prices. The tea-length dress was by Aftershock, her adorable shoes were from Clarks and fascinator/veil was found in Topshop! The bag and jewellery were all real vintage finds and her best friend's mum made her bolero. I love Jody’s loom so much! Sometimes the Grooms tend to let the team down (here in the UK anyway!) with slightly boring suits or unimaginative fashion choices, but not this Groom! He bought a vintage suit, shirt and cravat from J Simons in Covent Garden. The trainers have got to be my favourite part of his look. When on holiday in Vietnam, he asked a shoe maker to make him a pair of Adidas Hi-Tops out of embroidered silk, not realising the guy would actually agree. Photographer David said he loved having two pairs of gorgeous shoes to shoot! Thanks to Amy & Jody for sharing their day and to David for sending me the gorgeous images! Orange.

Kat

August 31, 2009

Rachel & Geordie are a little bit too gorgeous to keep to myself and the orange motif that runs throughout the images - from her shoes and flowers to the Mini (bought by Rachel's Mother a week before the wedding!) and the JCB (!) - is just too damn awesome. The wedding took place in Rachel's parents' back yard and really had the stylish vintage vibe going on. Rachel's stunning 1920's inspired dress was custom made by her good friend (and clothing designer) Mireille Stettler and Geordie complimented her perfectly with his casual look. Thanks to the gorgeous and super talented Brittany for sending me these! Credit: Brittany Esther Photography

Defined

As soon as I say Ashley Rose's different perspective on boudoir photography I knew I had to share these with you. No bed, no 'sexy' light, no nakedness or expensive, especially purchased, underwear - in it's place a serious rock chick surrounded by things that define her personality - the cigarette, the tattoo, the records, the cute stripe socks and her favourite yellow top - these are the things she loves and these are the things that make her feel sexy. Thanks to Ashley for sharing this session with us Credit: Ashley Rose

The Tiny Bride

Kat

August 30, 2009

I literally adore photographer Sarah Pukin's way of wording these images. I really can not compete. Enjoy this and enjoy these gorgeous images! The Tiny Bride. Once upon a time there was a girl who met a boy. The boy was in a band - when he saw the girl his heart grew and he knew she was the one. The girl gazed up at him and thought “could this be love at first sight?” As the boy came closer the girl reached her hand out - as he grabbed it they both knew that they were soul mates. They fell deeply in love. As time passed the boy and the girl got married and here are a few pages of their story. Thanks Sarah. You rock! Credit: Sarah Pukin Photography

The Last Days Of Summer

Kat

August 29, 2009

As much as we hate to admit it, summer is coming to an end. When we hit September and the kids go back to school that's pretty much it right? Hell I had to write an article for a magazine (hehe shameless self promotion to follow soon!) about winter weddings last week for crying out loud! However with the nights drawing in, we can't deny that the light gets that little bit more beautiful and the evenings become that little bit more comfortable - so comfortable in fact that Rachel & Nate felt the need for a pillow fight! You gotta love these...

Love Story

Kat

August 28, 2009

With a wedding that took place in a public library (Boston to be exact) what better than copies of 'Pride & Prejudice'' as favours and a passion in their portraits that could rival the greatest love stories. The backdrop provided almost a gothic feel to the images - the shadows; the low, moody lighting and the colours of the old books - all give such a romantic feel of history and grandeur. Anniversary Love

Kat

August 28, 2009

As photographers, Emmy & Aaron are more comfortable being behind the camera then in front, but for their one year anniversary (this week!) they decided they deserved some gorgeous photographs of their own! Emmy told me the whole story: When we took a little anniversary trip to a cabin on Cowichan Lake (Vancouver Island BC Canada) I pulled my dress, by Demetrios, out of the closet and took it with us. We had a great little cabin on the beach and there were some other perfectly decayed old buildings on the property including this great lime green shed. The owner expressed some concern that we were making photos in front of "the biggest eyesore on the property". I think that old shed is perfect!. We met over a conversation about our shared love of photography. Pretty soon we also loved each other and now we love making photographs together. We can't believe how lucky we are that we found each other and that we both have the same passion. I don't let him shoot me that often - I like being behind the camera as much as he does - but putting that dress on tends to let you become somebody else for a while. Doesn't hurt that its my hot hubby behind the camera! Everyone should do this on their anniversary – let those dresses out of the closet girls you look fabulous in them and they want to be seen! You don't have to be a photographer just head out and have some fun! I LOVE my dress and it was soooo much fun wearing it again!! Credit: E/A Photography

Adventure Playground Of Fun

Kat

August 28, 2009

Carrie & Brian got hitched on the snow-capped Mt. Hood at The Timberline Lodge. Carrie's amazing dress, cashmere-and-organza ruffle bolero and hair piece with chenille dot netting, feathers and flowers were all designed by Elizabeth Dye (who I have featured a few times before) an independent clothing designer in Portland, Oregon. Their wedding was a total adventure playground of fun. To get to the venue all guests had to snow cat up steep snow slopes of Mt. Hood in a near white out snow fall. Photographers Shawn & Bonnie went on to tell me more: Beyond that the night was full of quirk and personal style, from their unique toasts that involved in-unison speaking to their wedding vows that were a written haiku read line by line by each person in attendance. Thanks for sharing guys! Credit: Find The Found
