Screamingly Awesome

Kat

October 20, 2009

Remember Keith & Rachel's screamingly (yes I did just make that word up) awesome engagement session? well oh oh oh here comes the wedding! Yeeeeey...baby I love them - the dress, the tattoos, the succulents, the lanterns, the location (they got married under the same tree that they had their engagement shoot at), the cupcakes and the simple and beautiful yellow flower in her hair. Yes, I think I'm pretty much crazy about these! Thanks to the ever delightful Corin for sending these over and to Keith & Rachel for being just way too cool Credit: Corin Jones Photography

Wed Like Rockstars

Kat

October 19, 2009

I'm sure many of you have been waiting with baited breath to see these - hell, I know I have been dying to get these out! It's worth the wait though I assure you. Carly & James tied the knot at a winery in Sanger, CA. Her dress was an authentic vintage tutu style dress and feathery veil and James didn't even want to shave on the day - he rocked it though right!? So without further ado...prepare to be blown away by greatness. A Rock n Roll Bride classic if ever I've seen one. Again, thanks to Dani for sharing these...I feel so lucky to be the blog to bring them to you!

A Fabulous Array of Eclectic Style

Kat

October 19, 2009

Carly & James were describes to me by their photographer Dani as'a couple of badasses who wed like rockstars' and after seeing these and their wedding (coming up next) I have to agree wholeheartedly. Their engagement shoot took place at a variety of their favourite spots all around Fresno. They set off at 9am withBloody Mary's in hand and visited thrift stores, favourite bars, some cornfields...to name a few! It must have been an exhausting day but the results are a fabulous array of eclectic style! Thanks to the wonderful Dani for sending these over...eeek their wedding is coming right up!

Come on Get Happieee!

Bridget & James got married at a glassworks in downtown Louisville, KY. Doesn't their yellow colour scheme invoke a perfectly joyous feeling?! Love the orange/yellow and black combo of everything. Bridget's awesome polka dot dress came from Unique Vintage but was altered a little by her Mum who tweaked the fit and added the polka dot sash. Thanks to Stephanie for sharing her images and brightening up this gloomy Sunday... Credit: La Photographie

Slurpee Bride

Kat

October 17, 2009

Is it just me or doe s Rachel look a lot like the gorgeous Anna Friel?! Off topic slightly but I just had to thrown that out there. The idea for this shoot came from the bride herself. She had always been a huge fan of Tori Amos and so told photographer Duston Todd that around the time that her idol got married, and in reference to her song 'Jackie's Strength', she was quoted to have said "There’s one side of me that could very easily have ended up at the 7-Eleven sitting outside drinking a Slurpee in my wedding dress and just missing the whole thing. And then there’s the other one that did make it to the church. So, this song is about the one that drank the Slurpee. She’s still out there somewhere.” So that's what they did - they shot outside a 7-Eleven with a slurpee. Cute and elegant all at the same time. Thanks to Duston for sending these over. Le swoon. Kind of A Big Deal

Kat

October 16, 2009

So I may have written a massive article about how fab Erica Berger is just a two days ago, but when she showed me these photographs and told me the couple found her through Rock n Roll Bride...well I wasn't going to say no to sharing these little beauties was I!? Leigh & Corbett are kind of a big deal (was that a line from Anchorman?hehe). He is the co-creature of the "Saw" franchise and she is an actress and was in The Young & The Restless - I have famous readers don't ya know?! Apparently they love me and went nuts when they saw Erica's work on my blog. I'm a little bit over-excited about that. Woooooo. Oh. And their wedding absolutely rocked. Thanks Erica, Leigh & Corbett...love you too!

♥ WristieLove Custom Brooch Winner ♥

Kat

October 16, 2009

Here we go then my pretties, which one of you lovely ladies is the luck winner of the custom brooch by Sana of WristieLove - designed especially to fit your wedding theme? I thought long as hard about this, but my favourite entry, and the winner is.... Bowie Bride who said: Hands down fave: The Mini-Pearl Clockhand Brooch. We’re having a vintage-y, David Bowie-inspired, handmade decor, homemade beer, non-gender-specific bridal party, with my sister playing electric guitar as we float down the ol’ aisle, kinda wedding. We’re not really tied down to color – just a bunch of pastels mixed with black, red, peach, and off-white. We want it to look homemade and antique-y, so this brooch would be a fantastic addition. i would use it to pin on my bouquet – i am making my bouquet from scratch out of pins, brooches, handmade t-shirt flowers, newspaper, and whatever else ‘pretty’ i can find. This brooch is stunning and I would be honored to receive it. Congrats! Sana will be in touch to get all the details to make your prize perfect. I can't wait to see the result! Don't forget, the Love Me Do Photography contest is still very much open. Who wouldn't want free wedding photography!?

When I received a sweet email from Lizeth & Rafter asking if I'd like to check out their engagement session I was shocked to discover that their super modest and a-a-amazingly talented photographer Broin Hopkins had never submitted any of his work to a blog before! Blog land has seriously been missing out! I am over the moon and uber excited to be the first blog to share his work and this session in particular. Aren't Lizeth & Rafter such a cool couple!? She is a photograher herself and he is a music master. Rock n Roll indeed! Broin - get submitting your work to blogs - they will go nuts for stuff like this. I Saw a Shooting Star on my Wedding Night

Kat

October 15, 2009

Do you remember Anna & Ryan's Old Fashioned Love Affair wedding? Well, Mysi & Craig, the photographers of that soiree sent me their very own wedding - they got hitched a few weeks after! Mysi & Craig got married at a lodge in the middle of nowhere, near her parent's house in Illinois. They made a lot of the details - throwing themselves wholeheartedly into the DIY! They created their own programs to look like newspapers and got their invites printed onto handkerchiefs, the design of which was by the amazing etsy artist Heather Jenny.

Retrospective

October 15, 2009

Newlywed's Bianca & Sean got married in Cape Town (where they have now lived for 10 years) at a gorgeous restaurant called Pure at Hout Bay Manor. The wedding was based on a vintage/retrospective theme. The Bridesmaids all chose their own sleek black dresses and the boys wore skinny ties and sharp black suits. Bianca looked every bit the vintage princess in a custom made silver satin and lace wedding gown made by local couturier Cindy Bam and a vintage 1920s hat and veil.

I really do love props like the old books and the suitcases. They can make or break a shoot and these have certainly made it perfect. Thanks to the delightful Amelia for sending these in. Mwah!
